Rotterdam is often second fiddle to Amsterdam as a cruise port embarkation site and as a port of call. But Rotterdam is amazing on its own, from the terrific access right at the port (such as Foodhallen Rotterdam and the Dutch Photo Museum) to great things to do (Markthal Food Court and Kijk Kubus Cube Houses) and finally to awesome public transport! Come along as we give you five reasons to love Rotterdam!

The Port Lowdown offers detailed and fun video guides for cruise ports and destinations, helping independent, budget-minded travelers save time and money. We found that many videos lack the details we needed, such as parking, restrooms, available services, and even sidewalk quality. We act as your “port scout”, providing first-hand reports on essential information that others overlook; our videos cover port terminals, independent excursions, goods, services, transportation and even ship tours. With time ticking away during your port visit, we understand the importance of sound planning to make every moment count. Let us give you the Lowdown!

great info! will be cruising on the queen anne in december (not sure we will fit in, but the itinerary was to die for. rotterdam is one of the ports. glad to see there is much to see and do and easy to get around. hoping there will be xmas market type stuff. hubby has mobility issues, so good to know public transport is so easy to use and close. would you recommend a day trip to the hague or amsterdam??? or....just stay in rotterdam? first time visitors to this particular area. thanks again!

Thanks for the great feedback! If your husband has mobility issues, my vote is Rotterdam. Amsterdam is VERY crowded and has older streets (cobblestone, etc). Also LOTS of bikes everywhere. Amsterdam IS a doable city for mobility, but Rotterdam is easier in my opinion. That said, Amsterdam has important museums and great attractions; it depends on your interests. I would also check if you get on some tours to the old villages with traditional windmills (like Zaanse Schans).
