Rough Country 4" Long Arm Lift Kit & Vertex Reservoir Shocks // PT. 1 - FRONT

Today on JD Cars we’re tackling part one of the Rough Country bolt on 4 inch long arm lift kit! In this episode, we complete all of the front suspension work. This is certainly a very time consuming and labor intensive installation! That being said, this is all very doable work that can in fact be completed at home in your garage, even if you only have access to jackstands. If you do any sort of metal cutting work, I would highly recommend considering purchasing a plasma cutter. Yes you can complete this project with an angle grinder and reciprocating saw, but the plasma cutter saves a lot of time and labor.

One thing that broke 2 times were the upper shock brackets.. I made small gussets for them to brace where the top end meets the smaller lower end.. the 90deg bend. FYI it'll be good to do. Rough country did send me new ones each time and was over night mail

Hey man love your video and it helped me with my 4 inch long arm installation mor than you know... however I did notice your front upper control arms are on the wrong side because the small hole on the axle side is supposed to be on the top, per step 38 in the installation manual. I even confirmed with RC and they instructed me that the bend in the upper control arm should be outward towards the tire and small hole on the axle end should be up.... Hope this doesn't come off as a dig, I truly do appreciate the work you put into these videos and only pointing it out because I'm not sure if it will cause any problems for you.

You will get it raised and it will look good but may it drive very well and will be a matter of time before rattling and falling apart I can't believe you have a customer paying you to do that I'll give you a A for effort that's how you learn but do your homework and do use loc tight and a torq wrench and be as professional as you can not bustin your balls just a few tips remember the caster offset washer is how they align the jeep

I love it! The shocks are still dampening like new and I've yet to break anything! The thing drives sort of like a truck haha. You'll be glad you upgraded to the Vertex shocks. They're high quality and very beefy. Good luck with your install brother!

Would you need to replace your transmission with 35s or re gear with this lift kit ?

You can drive with stock transmission and gears on 35s just fine. You can also with 37s but the Jeep is a little sluggish so we regeared for 37s
