I've got a pretty fair collection of RR and marbles and In all honesty I like them. But I've started buying a lot of vintage USA knives I was lacking there and also a few new Case knives here lately it's hard when you like them all to limit your brands.

You have a beautiful collection of RR knives. Thank you again for sharing your collection. I’m just starting out with traditional knives, and I only have seven RR knives. I am more than satisfied with the ones that I do have. They are fast becoming my favorite brand. It gives me the opportunity to collect many different patterns of knives on a budget. Looking forward for your next video.

Hi Rasputin: RRs are a great value……period. I have some that are better than others but I’ve never received a clunker. 👍👍

I grew up just down the road from SMKW so the best thing is being able to look through them and find the best one you can. RRs are the best traditional edc knives that don’t break the bank. And, you have to do the same quality check on Case nowadays, too, so…

@SecretSquirrel-et6dl OMG 😲 If I lived close to SMKW I'd be homeless pushing a shopping cart with 500 knives in it. I live just south of Chattanooga. We're practically cousins. 🙂🤪

@ lol I live in Huntsville AL now but most family is in Knoxville and Greene County. Go home quite often and there’s always a stop in to see what Rough Ryder might catch my eye. Got the black g10 HC trapper and a little jig one split back whittler last time. Really liking both of those.

@SecretSquirrel-et6dl I've always liked Huntsville. Sherry and I spent three days there last year. I went south on 231 and hit some antique shops.

When ppl talk about Rough Ryders and SMKW, a lot of times they leave out the Marbles brand. From what I understand, they’re made in the same factory, and if you look closely, the patterns and blade shapes match up perfectly. So I would assume, that they’re almost identical. I’ve had issues with both, but I just return them if they’re “bad” and either get another one or a refund. These are inexpensive knives, so they’re gonna have some minor gapping, and the fit and finish won’t be like a GEC, but it’s also 1/10 the price and that’s if you buy straight from a dealer. I have somewhere around 75 rough Ryders, with about 300 vintage in my collection. Ppl are right when they say RR are the gateway drug to slipjoint collecting. But it’s more than that, I find them to be great carry knives. Say what you will, but I have a hard time believing ppl are using $200-$300 slipjoints for their edc. I’m sure those ppl are out there, and more power to them, but I think most would “collect” the expensive stuff and “use” the lesser expensive stuff. The china made thing never bothered me once the quality was there. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, most Chinese made stuff was of terrible quality. But they’ve seemed to up their game in that dept. so I don’t mind. Plus, plenty of Americans are paid when you buy a Chinese knife from SMKW, it’s not like the $15 I gave them goes straight to CCP. All the ppl who ship the stuff, driving and flying all over the place to get our stuff to us, plenty of Americans are getting paid from that. I bet more Americans get paid when you buy a Rough Ryder, than when you buy a GEC. I’m a pretty patriotic guy, so I do consider those things. But ultimately, most of the time, you buy a rough Ryder, it’s a good knife, for a great price. I think they listen to us too, cuz I’ve noticed certain changes that ppl bitch about online, that they seem to address. Anyways, another great video Mike. You def got me into looking at more antique knives since I’ve been watching. You’re spot on with the craftsmanship pre war. I always thought a cool vintage American knife from the 60s was awesome, until I realized how much better they were built pre war. So thank you for that knowledge. Also, if you buy a colt brand knife from SMKW, they are rough Ryders too, they just switched out the tang stamp and sheild. I realized this when I bought a buckshot bone of both brands, same knife. And to close, you said it perfectly “I like this knife, cuz it brings me joy” couldn’t have said it any better myself.

But how can they make such quality knives and sell them for so cheap? The scale material along with the fitment of separate pieces such as that black widow seems like they would cost way more than what they do.

Well that's the rub isn't it. All Chinese companies belong to the communist government. They're dumping knives around the world 🌎 at below cost. 😡

I would rather have a knife made in USA yes but if its a nice knife and a good price I buy it if it's from China, Taiwan, Japan, or wherever people bitch over China made knives but don't stop to think that roughly 70% to 80% of everything else we have in our homes and businesses are at least in part made in China or some other country so making a big fuss over it is useless and pretty hypocritical in my honest opinion..ll🙄🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😉🙂🙃
