My cat Figaro is flipping out over the bird's chirping. LOL. I just got in 19 knives from SMKW & I've been milking the unboxing of them. My weakness is copper-handled knives & SMKW has some nice Artisan Cutlery & CJRB ones. There's a good SMKW video on making 'shipwreck copper' with ammonia & salt. I think I'll try it with one of my less expensive knives. Good to see someone else unboxing knives.

😂 I bet that would freak out a cat with those noisy birds. I like the Copper accents, or handles because they patina. The backwoods Bushcraft series is pretty nice.

I also got a small Artisan Archaeo with Copper scales from SMKW. Great knife, but the scales make it weigh twice as much as the standard G10 Archaeo.

@@WilliamsKnifeLife Thank you for your great replies, aye I just received my first two Rough Riders this week; a Coal Miner and a Buckshot Canoe, I am very pleased with both knives, the quality is very good. I have been searching for the Buckshot Teardrop Jack, that you reviewed, but unfortunately it does not seem available here in the UK, at the minute, but I will keep watching your channel for inspiration and will continue to go through your previous videos Thanks again Sammy

@@WilliamsKnifeLife I have a whole list of oldies id like to find. Like the Whittlin’ Buddy, rr565, and a sunfish in the “hazardous” celluloid, rrkb212. And a long rifle saddlehorn and pen trapper. Lol. I go to Worthpoint and search for RRs that have sold on eBay over the years. It’s a good way to get obsessed by the unobtainable. I need to find more sources for the old ones! Are you interested in the new copper swirls or celestials?
@WilliamsKnifeLife3 жыл бұрын
@@skcamerican I'm definitely interested in the Copper swirls. The old RR's are not easy to find at a reasonable price. I see crazy high prices on Ebay for some of them.
@skcamerican3 жыл бұрын
@@WilliamsKnifeLife Yeah, I’m tired of looking on eBay. I keep seeing folks from the RR FB group outbidding me, then posting about their winnings. The bastards. Lol. There’s got to be a better way to find the oldies. Plus I get tired of waiting for SMKW to come out with new stuff, like sunfish. The knife biz is a slow, slow business.
@WilliamsKnifeLife3 жыл бұрын
@@skcamerican Did you see SMKW latest RR Sunfish, the Trash Panda? They want 30 bucks for it. Seems kinda high for just a Panda in a trashcan on one side.

Awesome collection, I like each and every one. I got me a Buckshot Barlow for my first ever RR; I wanted to see what these knives were all about. I have a lot of Case, GEC, Boker and other quality knives, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I think RRs are very well constructed, sturdy, and awesome looking knives with some micro details, but that for the price you are still getting a lot of knife to get the job done. So I ordered other RR Barlows for the collection. These knives are really addictive.
@WilliamsKnifeLife4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. That buckshot Barlow is an excellent one from them. That's how it starts my friend. You get one Rough Ryder, then another, and before you know it, they multiply like rabbits 🐇🐰🐇🐰 It is a nice inexpensive way to see what knives were like before everything became super steel, ceramic BB, fancy flip, titanium, triple digit, pocket knives. Not that there's anything wrong with those types of knives. I have an Elementum in S35VN coming in this week. I could have bought a whole series of Rough Ryder's for the price of that one knife. 💸💸

The copperhead has a CLIP POINT main, not a Drop Point. A major difference in blads profiles there. I only have 60 or so Rough Ryder. Not a lemon in the bunch. All came sharp, and have a "5" pull on all the blades. None have a case of blade Wigglie Wobblies.

Thank you for watching Rhino. I wish countries would trust their citizens more with knives. Here in America, it depends upon what state you live in as to what you can carry.
@rhino54194 жыл бұрын
@@WilliamsKnifeLifeThe problem is availability. Here we can legaly carry nothing without a justified reason but SAKs and traditionals are accepted and many of my age and older carry Opinels or laguioles. The problem is RR are not sold often here. And when we do find them they are twice the price you pay in the states.

I have found that if you don’t plan to display them you can use clear Plano tackle box trays that have a hinged lid. They work pretty well when storing multiple knives

A little bag of desiccant is a smart thinking. I like the Teardrop Jack shape, though I'll wait for different covers) and the Tailgate Trapper. I got the Pen Trapper in Brown Stag Bone after seeing it on Tobias's channel and I can really recommend it. I would certainly like to know more about your dyeing if you've not covered it yet. Where do you get that sealable bag? Size?
@WilliamsKnifeLife3 жыл бұрын
I picked mine up at a local grocery store call HEB. It was by the cooking utensils. An 11 inch by 16 foot roll cost about 10 dollars. You just seal one end & cut to whatever length you need. They work great for sealing anything from moisture or air.

Nice collection, but it should come with an addiction warning on the box. I did like you and bought a few at a time, however I'm in Canada and got them on Amazon US because if I buy a few together I get one shipping charge as opposed to buying them on Amazon Canada because each one has shipping and import charges already added. I bought mostly the Stag bone Style I have a few more coming should be here this week. I'm trying to collect the entire stag Bone series or as many as I can find. I like the Marlin Spike that you showed so I'm going to order that in my next order. The seller on Amazon is Rocky Mountain LLC and I think they checked the knives before they send them because they all have fingerprints on them every knife has been 95% perfect except for that lockback Trapper that you have and I also bought which had a small side wiggle which is negligible for me. I'm going to try a little stropping on those blades, especially the peanut, got a little planters wart to shave off. Besides being really good looking knives they are also very useful lots of little things. You can use the toad sticker for olives. They make designs that other people don't dare to try.
@WilliamsKnifeLife4 жыл бұрын
Thank you James. Yes, they are addictive. The stag bone is very well done & getting one makes you want the rest.

I’m in Canada as well. I buy all my RR’s from SMKW. I spent close to $100 on a few on Amazon Canada through Rocky Mountain LLC. They basically stole my money, sent no knives and I had to go through Amazon to get it back. SMKW makes Rough Ryder, have the biggest collection to choose from and they are backed for life.

@@itsawonderfulknife7031 Two years ago I bought a $200 knife from R M LLC on his website, not Amazon. After getting it in Canada I saw it $40cad cheaper and sent an email just to see if he price matched and same day got my money back. Since then I have bought over 40 knives and camping equipment from him, no problem. I didn't Think SMKW shipped to Canada

Storing your knives in plastic can trap moisture and cause rusting.
@WilliamsKnifeLife3 жыл бұрын
You are right. Most of my knives are stainless steel, but I'll put some dry rice in there. You can also throw in those "do not eat" bags of desiccant they ship knives with, usually wrapped in plastic. Water proof means any water trapped inside will stay inside. Mine are more open air, like a tray. Once I made the mistake of putting an 8 ounce plastic bottle of water inside a metal ammo can filled with rice, beans, and a pocket knife. The water broke open and leaked all over the knife, but didn't get into the rice. The knife was a 1964 Camillus metal camp type knife, and only had a little bit of rust on the back spring after years of being in that can. The military used to store stuff packed in a thick grease, and wrapped in wax paper.
@jimmyj48113 жыл бұрын
@@WilliamsKnifeLife My knives that are going into storage get oiled and wrapped in acid-free archival paper and put in their boxes minus the plastic slips that usually come with them. The ones for use or display are kept in a wooden machinist's chest or display boxes.
