ROUGH SHOOT PHEASANT AND DUCK | WINSCOMBE SHOOT | AN AFTERNOON WITH FRIENDS

What a way to spend a couple of hours after work on a Saturday! I joined a team of friends over at the Winscombe Shoot in Dorset for a walk about in search of a few pheasants, and in the evening we had a go for a few ducks on last light.
The strong wind made the shooting very challenging!!
We all had a lovely time, checking out some amazing scenery, making some great memories and we had a beauty of a Chinese takeaway to finish off the day.

A fellow lefty. I also have a LH XLR. If you don't mind, what choke and load are you using? My XLR shoots low for me, no matter that the comb is shimmed as high as it will go. How does yours shoot? To point of aim? When I shoot target loads, 3 dram 1 1/8 oz , they won't cycle. I purchased the XLR5 Velocity piston and that cured the failure to function with lighter loads. The hunting loads are all waterfowl non tox loads, so they function with the pulse piston no problem. Thanks for posting.

Good man!! I use the 1/2 choke but am going to try a 3/4 as I don’t think it is throwing as tighter pattern as I think! It shot quite a low pattern but I altered the shim to throw a higher pattern which I prefer! 👍

@@fieldsportswithspeed Can you share any details how you modified the shim system? Half choke seems to be hitting them pretty good. But give it a whirl. So you're using the #5 choke now, going to the #7?

Great video but i thought shooting game is illegal with a semi automatic shotgun as it is classed as a machine and you can't use a machine to take game

Hi Paul! It isn’t no but I’ve recently found out you can only use 2 shots! Which I didn’t know before.. this was just a walk about rough shoot for pigeons, crow, ducks etc. but lesson learnt that if there is game involved I can only load two cartridges. I won’t be getting in the habit of using an auto for game because I love using my over and under 😁
