For the record, it is a hole. To me from a different perspective, it looks like a 3d moon with gridlines drawn through it. I'm almost certain this is one of the best optical illusions I ever seen 😮

Great! A tip to impove the look of the "vertical" lines: draw them in the oposite direction. The bottom end will be thinner then the upper one what is consistent with perspective view. Usually you move a pen faster when you start to draw a line what makes it thinner.

I too thought that he has used lined sheet but later only I felt it's a blank white sheet of paper on which he has drawn this. Now a days such artists are rare to find after the availability of lots of drawing softwares. Real drawing is this one. Kudos to the artist.
