Enjoy a sunset walk out to Round Island Lighthouse along this rocky Great Lakes beach with Mackinac Island and the Mackinac Bridge as the backdrop. No talking. Just the natural sounds of the lapping water and waves, distant gulls and footsteps traversing the pristine rocky beach. After exploring the outside perimeter of the lighthouse we'll head back to the base of the point and end at a crackling campfire. The perfect end to the perfect night. Thanks for watching. Round Island in an uninhibited Island just south of historic Mackinac Island. The lighthouse is an iconic sight associated with Mackinac Island as the many ferries and freighters go by daily. What's more is this light is the twin of the Two Harbors Lighthouse in Minnesota!

This is simply STUNNING!!!!! I just got back from Mackinac Island for the second time. 1997 and just this past Wednesday night we returned. I have always had the fond memories of when I was there 26 years ago. If i would have found someone who could have taken us over there, I would have but the great turtle kayak tour said that the straits were unpredictable but if you did have at least four people in a party you could go over as a private tour and I guess it depended on the water conditions. Also, it looks rather calm when you filmed this. Thank you so so so much for that. You have no idea how much I love it.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hello! It's so great to hear you enjoyed the video and that you got to revisit the island last summer! It's such a wonderful and unique place. Yes, the straits can be unpredictable and choppy and the currents are wild. This was actually the one and only time I've kayaked over to Round Island. I've been wanting to go back because it's fun to take a tent and make a beach campfire and kayak back the next morning. An island all to yourself! I hope you get that experience some day. If I were you, I would absolutely contact Brown Eyed Girl Charters on Mackinac Island. It's owned and run by an island couple and have a beautiful boat. They might be able to take you over there and Alan is a great, energetic and charismatic guy. Couldn't think of anyone better at there job than Alan is at being a boat captain! You should DEFINITELY come back to visit! It's beautiful at all times of the year, but the spring tulips and lilacs are hard to beat and they're everywhere! You can literally smell them everywhere you go. Such a special place. And that lighthouse! My favorite on the Great Lakes for sure! Just so picturesque. Yes, definitely come visit! I’m sure a lot has stayed the same but new places are probably there for shops, eateries etc. but if I could get a kayak tour over to round island, I would love to do that. I know my friend wouldn’t do that but wow!!! also I named my daughter Elise McKennas after the movie of Jane Seymour’s character.❤️

Wow! That's awesome! The Grand Hotel has a Somewhere in Time weekend and it's filled with Somewhere in Time fans. Sounds like you and/or your daughter would fit right in 😊 Great Turtle Kayak Tours does a guided kayaking trip over to Round Island. I don't know many details but they are the kayaking outfitter on the Island. You're right, so much has changed on the Island but it's one of those places that really stays the same too. @@natureharmonytv I took my cousin since my friend couldn't go and we had a lovely lovely time.. of course. Great Turtle said $600 for party of 4 but we only had the 2 of us so I am hoping next yr we can do the kayaking over there. We were only on the island 2nights and left the next afternoon. no one so far can stay longer- I want to go back this October but need to find someone - if not I'll be back for sure in 2024. This is one of my most favorite videos EVER thanks again. I wonder how deep it is there from Mackinac Island to Round Island? Any idea?

The water is generally cool, however, that doesn't stop people from hopping in to swim. On a warm and sunny August day, it's perfect for swimming!
