1:06 This is the place where photographer Brian Griffin used in 1984 as the backdrop for the cover of "Some Great Reward", Depeche Mode's fourth studio album. The factory was pulled down shortly after the photo shot

Brings back a lot of memories. I grew up 1/2 a mile away from Round Oak. Neither of my parents worked there, but it did hit the town hard from what i remember. The clock building on Dudley road was till standing for quite some years after Round Oak closed, there were some small business's in there, a cafe was one. I had a Saturday job at the petrol station in Harts Hill (around 1987 to 1989) and would go there to collect the sandwiches' for the guys in the garage.

The car is driving along Dudley Rd and then turns down Level Steet. Some buildings are still present in Dudley Rd, Level Steet completely different apart from canal.

My old man and grandad worked there, dad in the factory (not sure which) and I think my grandad was involved with train maintenance. Dad left and went freightliner Dudley and I think my grandad retired

What a waste, all those skilled jobs replaced with shelf stackers at Merry Hell and the destruction of Dudley as well.

It’s loss killed the town bill agree with what you say but merry hill which is there on most of it is not an oil painting and they actually got rid of merry hill farm to build the centre which was controversial and not supported by local people
