Learn how to do use Large Multi-Lane Roundabouts. We filmed a lot of this video using a Mavic Pro Drone and Go Pro Hero 5 Black.
In this short video we try and make Large Multi-Lane Roundabouts as simple as possible. Although the thought of large Multi-Lane Roundabouts seems scary. In a lot of cases they are very well laid out with signs and road marking. So, if you understand what to look for and what they mean. They can become much easier than you first thought.
With any junction, don’t be afraid of going the wrong way. You can always turn around and get back on course later. So, if for example you find yourself in a left only lane on the approach to a Large Multi-Lane Roundabout, but you want to go straight ahead but don’t feel like you have time or its not safe to change lanes. Just go left safely and then turn around later when it is safe. Even on a driving test it does not matter if you go the wrong way if what you do is safe.
This video was filmed using roundabouts in the area of Winchester Driving Test Centre in Hampshire, Including the Winnall Roundabout, Pitt Roundabout and the known locally as the Marwell Zoo sign roundabout.
If you have any questions about Large Multi-lane, please comment below and we will reply ASAP. We Are driving instructors that teach people to use Large Multi-Lane Runabouts every day, so we have great experience to answer your questions with, and are happy to help.
Example 1 - 00:20 Winchester roundabout by the M3 known locally as the one with the brown Marvell sign. Going ahead 2nd exit from the middle lane
Example 2 - 01:40 Winchester Pitt roundabout that has a bus lane on it. Going right second exit.
Example 3 - 03:29 Winnal roundabout Winchester going 3rd exit

I just passed my test Today with only three minors! I decided it was best for me to learn to drive with my dad, and so we used your videos a lot for manoeuvres, roundabouts, and just generally learning the rules for the test, plus you were always quick to answer my questions, even when they didn’t directly relate to the video I commented on, so thank you for making these videos because they really helped to get me to where I am today!

I truly appreciate the bird's eye view perspectives, as well as the clear highlighting of lanes and the constant visual reminders of checking mirrors and signs. They are small things, but are GODSEND for a beginner such as myself. I wish I discovered your videos sooner!!! :-)

Thank you for the great explanition. Can I just always come off at the right hand lane on these kind of roundabouts to avoid driving on bus lanes or cutting infront of someone else. I'm just asking for the test? Hopefully with experience will know how to deal with them. I'm struggling at the moment as my test's coming up soon. Please reply. Thanks again
@ThinkDriving
@ThinkDriving 4 жыл бұрын
You can come off in the right lane most of the time, but you then need to get over asap, which can be tricky so you are much better coming off in the left where safe and possible. You could pick up minors for unnecessarily coming off in the right lane. hope this helps

I'm sorry this question doesn't relate directly to this video, but in the driving test, if you have put your handbrake on at traffic lights, can you leave your foot on the brake? Or do you have to take your foot off the brake and put the car into neutral/park (I'm doing my test in an automatic if that makes any difference?) Also, in an automatic, is there any point where you need to put the car into neutral/park during the test except from parking or stopping on the side of the road?? Thank you!
@ThinkDriving
@ThinkDriving 6 жыл бұрын
Cassidy Rose Hi it’s good practice to put your handbrake on if you stop for more than 5 seconds, on a hill, at traffic lights. But as long as you are in control and safe it does not matter if you don’t do it every time. Hope this answers your question?

Think Driving School thank you! If you put the handbrake on can you leave the car in drive and keep your foot on the brake?
@ThinkDriving
@ThinkDriving 6 жыл бұрын
Cassidy Rose you should really take your foot of the brake to not dazzle the drivers behind. But your not going to fail for it as long as your in control :)

Thanks reply earlier video!! I'm strong on most things and a fair PT2 passer, my guess is could have failed a PT2 on a multi lane, I think some drivers are naturally strong in different areas, making oneself weak on others !? Videos make it look easy, in practice I hate them just as much as new learner drivers! And I did pass PT2 and I am safe and defensive just I fall apart on roundabouts !!! Like collapse , think I'll dedicate another lesson trainer on my PT3 go back and another 10 hours practising , bet I still cannot do a fresh new one! Think it is a complex !

@ThinkDriving
@ThinkDriving 6 жыл бұрын
To change down smoother you need to do several things, First make sure you have slowed down enough for the lower gear you are going to change into. Second bring the clutch up slowly, maybe try watching this video to help you understand the clutch better. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5e8gY1upp6spc0 Hope this helps :)
