Few people would realize or appreciate the time and effort that has gone into tweeking this loco to attain such slow running and tightly controlled starts and stops. The chuff is just so appealing, the whistle so very appropriate. Well done Terry!

Brilliant. Very impressed with the way you have that loco running. I have a Billy based 7/8ths loco, I'd love for it to run as well as your Billy. Well done!

A stunning video Terry - that has to be the smoothest, slow running Billy on the planet! And I just love that shot through the trestle at 1.08 to 1.45. Oh yes - it sounds great too ;-) Cheers Chris

Thanks Geoff There`s a bit more to do yet.I still have to fit the boiler feed pump and R.C. uncouplers.Then I`ll have to try and develop some of your skills,for detail and real loco appearance.I love that green loco of yours.

Thanks guys for all the comments.I`m glad you enjoyed Terry

Thanks Fabrizio Yes the Slomo makes all the difference for slow running but the Summerlands chuffer gives that great sound.

What amazing driving. A credit to you!

Yes It`s a summerlands.I never get sick of that sound.The chuffer has made more difference to the loco than anything else I`ve fitted

Yes good thought. In the early videos of Melly she was on a fairly stiff grade with a reasonable load on the drawbar. I'd like to see how she runs under those conditions with the RC before I make further changes. All good things to keep in kind as I fine tune her.

Yeah, it will go faster but only down hill.Thanks for your comments

Splendid slow running and a really convincing chuff - Summerlands, or did you make it yourself?
@ngineguy11 жыл бұрын
I had a look at your videos.Youv`e done a beautiful job.In the first video when your loco was running slow it looked quite smooth.It was more hypo in the run with R.C. fitted.One thing I did that you might like to try.I extended the arm on the regulator,so that the regulator opens less for a given servo travel.I extended mine to 30mm.You have finer control at the low speed end.It means you won`t get as much opening at the fast end but I have found that I don`t need it.Just a thought.

Very, very impressive. Have you written up the changes you've made to achieve this level of performance? I'm sure there would be a lot of live steam modellers who would be very interested in learning more.

Beautiful trains and railway! Where did you get those lovely cars, I'm in the market for a few for my Roundhouse L & M.

Thanks for posting. I’m currently looking to get my first live steam. This is the first time I’ve seen the couplers actually being hooked up. Does that center buffer work with the standard LGB hook and loop couplers, or are those something else?
@ngineguy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve Just happens that the roundhouse centre buffer is the correct height for the lab hook to hold on.

Won't it go any faster, mister? Seriously, superb slow running and sound effects. That loco must be perfectly fettled to do that.

Hi Lain. The whistle is from DJB engineering in the UK
