Rachmaninoff's transcription of Kreisler's Liebesleid. In English, "Love's Sorrow" (and often incorrectly written as 'Liebeslied', "Love song" which gives it a completely different meaning), this has been one of the most requested pieces since the beginning of the channel, and is one of Rachmaninoff's most charming piano transcriptions. A perfect example of Rachmaninoff's beautifully dizzy contrapuntal writing, the interplay between the voices here is so melancholic, it's almost as if these melodies are the two voices that are currently going through 'love's sorrow' (listen to the sad conversation between the two melodies in the RH at 1:19). This one is a very misleadingly difficult piece to play, a big thank you to M.I. for this enchanting performance. Enjoy the next few days and SEE YOU ON THURSDAY ♥

I can only describe this song as the sad last dance of two partners who have agreed to mutually break up for some unknown reason. The reason is not important but this is the last moment they have together and they both know this but neither one wants to accept it. To have love between each other and still have to separate is what I believe the song shows. its as Rousseau describes its like an interplay between voices who are uttering their last goodbyes to each other never to be the same again and as a last moment to share they dance in each others arms without worry and without fear to at the end disappear from each others life.

Umm, I actually see this on a more positive light. The whole theme of the composition is sad undertones being softened by small sections of brightness. Just as in life, you will experience sadness and joy Even tho the whole song is slightly sadder than it is happy, towards the end you get this tone of bittersweet joy, which gives me hope as I have learned to always see the beauty in life even through the sad times. Could be described like a struggle through depression

This scene is sadder than Kaori's death. For real. We all thought his mom was being mean. But she was just scared thinking that she didn't have enough time to prepare him for him to survive the world alone. She scared Arima will be nothing when she's gone though her wag of teaching was very strict. There's no denial that in the end, he can truly felt her love , living inside him

I agree. I always get emotional in episode 13. Such a heart-wrenching story. Kaori's death always had foreshadowing, but Kousei's reconciliation with his mom was an ongoing development that we didn't really know would happen.

Its never too late! As long as you feel the yearning to be a part of the music world then it will never be too late to start. Keep your passion for music, hold your head high, and start learning whenever you're ready, there's no rush. You don't have to play for anyone or for any recital or competition unless you want to. You just need to play for yourself and be happy. Sorry for the rant but I believe in you, you can do it!!

I often see people commenting that they would practice 40 hours a day too if they were as good as this guy. The difference between Rousseau and most pianists is that he practiced for hours every day before he was this good. That’s what sets pros apart from amateurs, I think.

Ian Kim But if it wasn’t for the show, not nearly as many people would know or appreciate this piece today. Still a bunch would, sure, like those who were shown the song by someone else directly (the old-fashioned way, lol) or those in the classical music community, which is still rather large and thriving, but until more recently has been increasingly isolated from basically the rest of music. Some people have even declared “Classical music is dying” or “It’s already dead.” In fact, classical iirc is the fastest growing genre in terms of popularity among young adults (like teens-20s) in America. Maybe this sort of mainstream exposure, along with mainstream social media exposure like TwoSet Violin or even 2 Cellos, are why? To be fair, there are many orchestras that are doing a great job too. I’m grateful to have a wonderful symphony in my city who puts on a lovely pops season every year (in addition to the classics. They work very hard) that is a very nice balance between keeping it classy and making it new. _(You can skim the subsequent description in the paragraph below. It’s not exactly necessary, just interesting and for demonstration purposes)_ From the music of John Williams (Star Wars, Harry Potter, E.T., Indiana Jones, Jaws. It was a great show) to live dubbings of the Looney Tunes or the Nightmare Before Christmas where they play the animation on a projector as they follow along playing. Of course, there’s the annual Christmas show. Some of my favorites are shows where they orchestrate for talented tribute performers. They’ve had Frank Sinatra, Simon and Garfunkel, John Denver, and the Beatles (multiple times! :-] in fact, it was my first show to see of theirs and the most recent, lol. That’s how my dad and I found out about them. Over the probably near 10 years we’ve been going to see them now I think they’ve had a Beatles tribute band come in three separate times, and you don’t hear me complaining) But even great programs like these weren’t really getting the attention they deserved until pretty recently. They were basically kept afloat by foundations and donors supporting them as well as yearly season ticket holders. They didn’t even have a home theater either; they played at one of two in town usually. But just a few years ago they somehow got the funds to get a whole new theater built for them to play at full-time that also hosts a slew of other events (Paul McCartney even played there! I wish I could’ve gone. It sold out SO quick.)
