The end of the Mother Road! Some people say that the trip through California is a bit anticlimactic but I thought it was fantastic! Especially the first half through the desert and mountains, and how can you beat the sunset in Santa Monica looking at the Pacific Ocean. Great trip - YOU should definitely do it someday too!

Thanks for the memories!! Just finished watching your Rt. 66 videos and they were great. My husband and I took that trip we think in 1965, trying to remember. We had a 1959 Chevy Impala convertible and drove from Illinois where we lived to California. We had a 8mm movie camera🤦‍♀️ and thank goodness we had the movies transferred to VHS tapes many years ago! Who has a VHS player anymore 🤷‍♀️ Anyway thank you so much and will watch the rest of your trips soon! We are celebrating our 60th anniversary in Aug. with a Montana,Idaho, Utah and Colorado road trip and are so looking forward to that for sure! 🙏 and safe travels to you

Love it that you're making these Route 66 videos! You replied to me once before when you were in Eastern Oklahoma and I told you I live in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. I was born 2 miles south of 66 in Springfield, Missouri. I remember riding on old 66 many times as a kid and even up until my early teens. My best friend and I took the trip from Springfield to Carthage, Missouri this May in his SS Camaro after watching your video. He grew up here but has lived in Dallas for decades. His Dad took him on a special 66 trip he never told me about until I sent him your video. We are going to do Joplin to Tulsa this year. I'm in the middle of writing a new song about 66 right now and took a break and saw this video. I've done 66 to Santa Monica but my friend and I will have to finish later as he just took a new IT job with the Bank of America. In the meantime we will enjoy your videos. Thanks!

I finally watched the last segment of this trip. I watched all of the others, but somehow I missed this one. I really enjoyed the whole series. It brought back a lot of memories. When I was about 10 years old, I traveled down route 66 from Texas to California to visit family. That was before the interstate highway. The road was a 2 lane deathtrap in a lot of spots. However, the tourist traps were absolutely the neatest places for a kid. I think we went that way twice. Great memories. Thanks again.

A couple of comments on California .. you missed the communities of South Pasadena and Alhambra (which 66 just barely touches on its original alignment) and Hollywood is a part of Los Angeles, not a separate city. Unfortunately, there is just SOOOO much to see along 66 in Los Angeles County that it can become daunting. With 100 or so National Register Landmarks within the Route 66 corridor in Los Angeles County, finding sights like the Flying A Station in Monrovia, Old Town Pasadena, Gus's Bar-B-Q, Chicken Boy in Highland Park, the Southwest and Heritage Square Museums, and even the original terminus at Broadway and 7th Street in Downtown Los Angeles can just be overwhelming. Hopefully your viewers will have a bit more time to explore that stretch of California's Mother Road, as there is something for everyone in that area regardless of what it is that you are interested in seeing and experiencing!
@TravelwithaWiseguy
@TravelwithaWiseguy 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments! You are definitely correct about those areas - I did my best to show as many as I could, that's why I put (almost) in the title. Some of them I realized I missed after the trip was over and L.A. has so many stacked on top of each other. I got to L.A. just a few hours before a shutdown went into affect as well - definitely excited to get back and explore more when things are more regular!
