If you haven't passed it already you should check out the Route 66 Junkyard Brewery. He is a retired Air Force guy who turned the Junkyard into a Brewery and he is a Harvest Hosts Location. It was a pretty cool stop for us.

Backing up tip from a school bus driver. When ever you are backing up from left or right side look in mirrors at the rear tire and the edge of the grass, gravel, curb etc. and follow them in with your steering. In this case I would have started my hard right steering much sooner so as to keep the right rear tires closer to the grass then moved over to the left as needed to hit the parking spot. Backing in from the blind side is a real trick. Another observation is that there seams to be a lot more roadside attractions now than way back in 1967 when I traveled across 66. Did you stop at or see the sign to the Will Rogers museum off of 66 in Oklahoma? It was there in 1967, but may not be now.

We really enjoy your channel. We love RVing and have been camping 45hrs. We started in tents. Now we have a motor home. We just sold our home of 20yrs. We are living in our RV while we build a smaller home. I couldn't keep our home up after 2.5 yrs of chemo for cancer. So we sold it. I like the 50s and early 60s cars.

Born in 54 husband born in 46 he had 69 corvette and a 55 shoe box .I had two 67 mustangs one coup and convertible now we have 49 studebaker pickup hot rod with a 502 fun truck we built together lost Joe early 2020 the truck not moved much since all the restrictions in Ontario Canada hope next year will sell after have his celebration of life next May but we had planned to do route 66 when we retired. Grew up on a ranch in Oklahoma w/buffalo on 10,000 acres near Pawhuska, OK, not as big as Ree & Ladd Drummond’s ranch. My grandma worked for the Indian Bureau of Affairs in Pawhuska. I owned a 40' diesel pusher until my divorce.....never again will I own something that large!! A waste of money and a pain to maneuver in. And if you need repairs, especially on the road.....heaven help you. I once paid $900 for one rear tire, it was a Sunday and we were very lucky to find a tire shop open in Stockton, CA with a tire that fit the wheels....owning a coach requires deep pockets.

Two things- 1. Thank you for including Kansas in the video (even though 66 isn't very deep in). We seem to get forgotten most of the time. 2. We went to the Blue Whale a few years ago, probably about 7 or 8 years, and it didn't look as good. Glad to see that they have decided it is worth the upkeep. Also, there was hardly any water back then. It must have been a drought year.

At 2:50 minutes I have to agree with your statement about sticking to Route 66. Having lived in Oklahoma for around 50 years there are some sections that have nothing of interest. Between Tulsa and Oklahoma City there are several stops and then West of OKC to just pass El Reno to the Pony Bridge. Beyond that the Mother Road gets rather narrow. The Gathering Place in Tulsa is a fantastic park, other than not being able to take your dog. I hope you enjoyed your time in Oklahoma!

Awww, Pawhuska and Bartlesville, Oklahoma have a special place in my heart. On our way to visit Pawhuska and Pioneer Woman this last summer in July on a roadtrip with our 5th wheel from Washington State, we had a little mechanical issue while going through Bartlesville, OK. No problem, called a tow truck...but...the tow truck a short way down the road and up an incline dropped our truck and rig and it ended up sliding across a two lane hwy and jack knifed into a tree in front of a house. Yikes!!! We ended up staying a month in Oklahoma while our truck got a new cab. The RV only had a few bumps and bruises so we were able to tow it home to be fixed. We finally just got it back! (We are fulltime. The fifth wheel is our house) I'll never forget Oklahoma. Love the small towns and the Tall Grass Prairie and all the beautiful landscapes. Nice to see it again on your Route 66 road trip.

I cut my teeth on your 3208 back in the 70’s. When I saw you adding a quart of oil, I remembered Cat saying not to add until down to the add mark. The engine will seek it’s level, I’ve seen them run two quarts low from the full mark and stay there til oil change. Enjoy your journey and hope to see you on the road. Greg&Pam

My two favorite cars are 1940 Ford Delixe coupe and also a 1953 Studebaker. Next time you are in Arkansas check out the auto museum on Pettit Jean Mountain they have some of the rarest cars in the US. There is also a state park there with camping.

I had a 67 Ford Bronco with the same colors as that one, with the half cab. The top comes off, the windshield folds down and it was a 6 cylinder 3 speed stick shift, 4 wheel drive. It was so much fun in good weather.

The Gathering Place is hands down the coolest, biggest, most awesomestest park we've ever taken our daughters to (glad we left Daisy home). We called it the Disney World of city parks. There was even a mirror maze.

I was Shelby dealer and High Performance shop located in the west, we dealt with a lot of Germans because they love all things American including muscle cars and Rt 66. We had customers that would buy a 50s or 60s "muscle car" then spend 2+ months on Rt 66. Store the car, return the next year and do the same until they had driven, explored the entire Rte. We had a good relationship with Germans because that's my wife's native language plus we had a good friend who worked for one of the biggest tour companies in the EEC.

Who would have guessed that you would find a Vintage Car Museum, a Blue Whale with a slide in it's mouth, and Uranus within driving distance from each other and both are around Route 66 instead of out by the ocean somewhere?! Whomever made those signs for that park area must have had a couple six-packs too many before designing them or they did it to confuse everyone, which they accomplished very well. Even on the video I couldn't figure out if they meant "Don't Do This" or Use Caution or whatever. Agan, another great video and the outtakes are a funny addition.

I think we mentioned in other comments that we did Route 66 this year ourselves and really enjoyed it. When we stopped in Tulsa we went to Buck Atom's Route 66 Curios and Buck is a new American Giant so a smaller version of him now accompanies us on our journey. Funny thing we also stopped at that fudge shop where you saw the mayor and had a blast with all the inappropriate dad jokes they are so good at spouting there. Perhaps one day our paths will cross and Gary and Buck can catch up.
