Wowsers... you've " just" created amazing progress i did not see coming. Dare i say you've created what Transport Tycoon/fever could have been from the get go? sorry, Diesel Railcar Simulator is looking to have a very bright future... SOOOO many editor features, just wow! So that's why DRS has been so quiet, you've been hard at work! Well done! Look forwards to running through other people's (re)creations. Imagine @Hans Dampf finding out about this title. Just one thing i'm wondering about, the railroad level crossing doors @3m23, shouldn't they operate/open to the outside of the rail? So that a train always has a pass through, but only the road is temperarily blocked when the train is near?

Thanks for the comment! Just to be clear, this game is closer to Train Simulator Classic / Train Sim World / Zusi / SimRail than Transport Tycoon / Fever, so the main gameplay element is the driving of trains. The editors are mainly intended for modders and as such, not really part of the gameplay (but some people spend more time in the editors than in the cabs of the trains!) I am interested in doing some kind of Tycoon game in the distant future though... The level crossings are old British type so they actually block the train too

Sorry for the wrong assumption, it's the way it looked to me, and i'm not that familiar with the other titles, again, sorry. i'm pretty sure some of the builders might actually flock to your title, to give the editor a whirl though ;) Keep up the great work, it's looking amazing!

Painful for me to say, but the new track and track bed looks completely unrealistic. No built up ballast and the track is not UK profile from the era. I have always supported Oskari's work and he has achieved amazing things since 2018, with the sim. But this one feature spoils it for me personally. I will get my coat................ 😁

Hey Mike, I know you're not a fan of the track but let me bring up two points: In some old photos the ballast is so run down that the surface is almost or completely flat, so it's not that unrealistic (though it is for the newer track with the cleaner ballast). All the tracks do have a trackbed profile but normally it's under the terrain. This is because I wanted to experiment with having the ballast blend with the terrain better than before and to take advantage of non-repetitive texturing which used to be applicable to terrain only. The new approach has some benefits but it didn't work as well as I expected so trackbeds will probably make a comeback at some point. I also try to avoid modelling, so for the rail fastenings I used what I could find. The chair for the "bullhead rail" is by a British modeller so I expected it to be authentic, but on closer inspection it does seem to be freelanced.
