Thank You for your kind words. Its refreshing to hear that someone in North America would have loved to have had Rovers presence its not often you hear of such desires. The 75 and ZT were i believe sent for testing in America and at ZT T V8 was personally imported later fitted with a coyote engine i think ,used on the drag strip? and quite impressive by all acounts. Last i knew it was up for sale. I also know that there is at least an MG ZTT in Canada. Rover tried many times to break into the North American market but never seemed to have much luck with it. The Sterling was hoped to do well but unfortunately didn't live up to expectations but they did have their followers. It was a shame because from my perspective the 800 /Sterling was a lovely design and the Honda engine was lovely. That has been the experience i had with my car anyway but in the US i understand there were various issues. I think Jaguar/Land Rover have had the most success. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍

Thanks Bruce i appreciate that. I agree the pre project drive was a far prettier car and MG/Rover did themselves no favours with the facelift bumpers in my opinion but as you will know if you wanted a Rover V8 this was the only choice. I don't mind the V8 grille. There is a lot more info to follow on this car in due course and it has quite a background. Thanks for watching and commenting. Do you own a 75? Hello Sheldon and welcome . Hope you are keeping well. I have followed your videos with interest as i Love anything BMC/BL etc and i love sd1 Rover's. As a child my grandad had a 1966 2000sc P6 in Connaught green , i remember him demonstrating its capabilities as i watched the strip speedo rise up to 100 mph. Happy days. Thank you for your kind comments i am very proud and privileged to own it. I decided to put this video up because there was no 75 V8 tourer on you tube then a couple of days later another one was put on and there is a link between the two but that's another story.I would agree they very rarely come up for sale but strangely enough just days after posting mine on you tube one appeared for sale. Weird. No V8 Tourer activity ,i put my video up and two more creep out. Its the one form the Isle of Man in Nocturne. I attach a link to the advert for your interest and delectation www.carandclassic.com/l/C1695098. My car has just covered over 20,000 miles. In the next instalment i tell the story of how by chance i came to buy it and then i will reveal more of its history which to me i think its special. Ok others may not feel the same but that doesn't matter its special to me and that's all that matters. Our cars whatever they be are special to us all. Thank you for popping in i feel privileged. Take care.

Absolutely stunning example. I have a 75 saloon CDTi (my third 75) in British Racing Green pearlescent and sandstone leather interior exactly the same as yours, and I've owned two Ford Crown Vics which I brought back from the US (separately) over the last 15 years. They also have the 4.6L V8 Triton series engines which I got to know inside out, and love. So I can imagine the best of both worlds with yours. It's beautiful. Well done.
@TipTopMotors.
@TipTopMotors. 4 ай бұрын
Good to know there are fellow sufferers.🤣 The 4.6 has been used in many different American cars. The main thing people say about the V8 is , they don't produce much power for a V8 and they are not very fast. Even when new that's all people could say and how disappointed they were. Yes i accept that they may not produce much power for a V8 but that's not the end of the story . Put into context they were not built as a sportscar but if you want to increase power there is so much that you can do. The 0-60 time is respectable and they are limited to 155 mph how much faster do you really want to go? Its more about the drive , the torque and the power delivery. I'm very happy with mine. The British racing green is a lovely colour in the sun isn't it and to me the sandstone is the right contrasting colour for the interior. I like the fact my car is fairly anonymous and not long after i bought it i took it out to take some pictures of it. While doing so a gentleman approached and got into conversation and he told me that he'd had one and how nice they were ,his friend then joined the conversation. He then asked is it the 2 litre diesel? When i told him what engine it had his mouth almost fell to the floor and he said he didn't know they made them with this engine? We then had to do the obligatory start up . I am pleased that the 75 in whatever format is fast become so loved. I have often thought of buying the diesel myself with such good fuel economy, comfort and value whats to complain about. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍

Was it a light green one? Moonstone? Lovely colour. Interesting to know and knowing its history makes them more special to me anyway. It was quite common for Press cars to receive more attention than the everyday ones. Extras as you say fully loaded, special colours, and the paintwork i understand was to a standard better than most. Engine bays might have a lacquered paint finish where ordinarily they may be mat finish. They were certainly the cars to buy if you could. Something just a little bit special. Thanks for watching and sharing your story.🙂👍

@TipTopMotors.
@TipTopMotors. 3 ай бұрын
@@adampowell5376 Its what most people cant understand why they made the V8 at all and feel the money would have been better spent. Personally i think MG/Rover were asset stripped and what was left was the less desirable parts of the company as far as the masses were concerned. Everyone has their own views but when it was a combined company the profitable parts i feel helped to support the non profitable parts. Take the mini, land rover and Jaguar out of the equation then what's left has to be more than good to survive but they didn't have much support from the Journalists. It was so easy to bash MG Rover. The 75 is a much loved car. Perhaps there may have been more V8 Tourers had the company survived but it was still early days for the Rover V8 as it was only available for about a year. Not 100% sure how many Tourers still survive and still trying to discover what's still out there as they can be a bit of a recluse. I'm aware the 3 lhd cars are still around and including mine i know of at least 5 others but whereabouts are unknown. There was a Starlight silver one that appeared to have been dumped but as far as i know someone put it back on the road. I think the survival rate is quite high due to the rarity. There is more to the story about my car still to be revealed which i intend to go into at a later date. Thanks again for watching.👍

In last year I was thinking about getting an MG ZT V6 but well, I actually like Automatic more and the interiour of the Rover has simply more class than of the MG. But that particular MG that I had in mind was in blue metallic and pre-facelift. I like the pre-facelifts a little bit more. The blue metallic paint is also looking amazing on the Rover & MG. I totally love blue metallic to be honest, hehe. Amazing car - really a treasure.

Thanks Sven. I agree i think the pre facelift cars were much prettier. I don't think MR/Rover did themselves any favours in the restyling. The premium bumper as on my is like marmite people either love or hate it. If i was to have a V8 you only get one choice. V8 Bumper or MG bumper. This car is a bit special and has an interesting history behind it which i intend to reveal in due course. This is the only V8 tourer in British racing green. The blue colour if you mean mid to dark then that's probably trophy blue which is a lovely colour particularly in the sunlight. The V8 with a clutch is said to be a very heavy clutch but the Rover was only ever made in Automatic format. So manual MG, Automatic Rover. I love automatics but i do own manual cars as well.

@@TipTopMotors. I can imagine about the heavy clutch on the manual. Once I saw an MG F in a car dealership and it was built around the same time. The clutch was also very heavy. So in case of a Rover 75 or MG ZT I'd then also definately prefering the Rover - plus the nicer looking interior (but well, I know a lot of people don't like bright interior but I'm really loving it). I can imagine about the search of a Rover 75 V8 - you simply have to take it as it is - they're super rare. Amazing to hear it is the V8 estate in this colour.

@@TipTopMotors. Good Morning Glyn! I'm following the market in my region about the Rover 75 and I noticed the good ones disappear quite fast as soon as they're offered. And the amount of the 75 for sale is quite low over here. But I was also checking about the Jaguar X-Type which also has a very appealing retro design. What are your thoughts about the X-Type? As I've to park outside I guess the X-Type is perhabs also the better option when thinking about the plenum drains with the cabin filter and the ECU. In this case the X-Type seems to be easier. Just noticed an offer and someone seems to sell it because spent too much money on it (which is more of a good buy because I made this mistake once before on my old Mercedes E230 - the fixed parts won't break this soon again) ... so e.g. new sills which is also a great thing because it's one of the weak points on the X-Type. So I am thinking about to use it as a daily classic instead of my Fiat Tipo SW. Saving some money for no more loan for the car - but spending it to fix a 20 y/o car, hahaha. But sitting in a comfortable and elegant cruiser in a lovely British retro design.

It goes without saying that all cars have their issues regardless and you can read about different ones and frighten yourself. It boils down to knowing what the issues are, how much they would cost to repair and how easy would parts be to get and access to someone who understands and can work on the cars. There is a variety of engines as you know and some were 4 wd some front wheel drive. I believe they may go through wheel bearings. @@TipTopMotors. Thanks a lot Glyn. Yes, the wheel bearings are also an issue from time to time, I read that already. Plus it seems like the manual gearbox especially with the weaker front wheel drive versions are more reliable than the AWD with automatic. But of course there are also different opinion. I am just seeing that there's also a nice Rover 75 that I could check out next weekend. I already talked with the Fiat dealership to return my Tipo and I'd get a great price for it. So perhabs I'm going soon to drive a British Youngtimer. But of course I've to check the cars. Both of them - so the X-Type and the Rover 75 have the 2.0/2.1 with 150 hp - it's actually enough power. So I don't mind. My old Mercedes E230 also had 150 hp. Nice enough to cruise around. Designwise the X-Type as well as the Rover 75 are really stunning - at least in my opinion. Totally loving the design with these round double headlamps on both. The Jaguar S-Type on the other hand I don't like so much. The X-Type is just looking better in my opinion because it looks more like an XJ.

75 v8 Tourer now that is rare. How many was made ? 100 or so. Will have to stick with my 1.8 Tourer ive had for years and would not sell

Its rare as you say . The 75 is a well loved car in all variants it doesn't matter which engine it has we all love them and that's all that matters. For Rover saloons your not far out. But much less for the Tourer ,its 1 of 16. Now if you also want to see a very nice 75 1.8 you may wish to take a look at this one i caught last year at a show.kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJynaqh7ma6imKc Thanks for watching and contributing.

Thank you. I have been fortunate enough to have owned it for a couple of years. I have not put it on you tube in order to sell it. I started my (Hobby) channel last June. I just thought as i visit the different shows i would try and post some videos and share the shows with people. I have enjoyed watching other videos by other you tubers and if only one person gets some enjoyment out of it then its been worthwhile. As you gather its a rare car and thought i should now put something on you tube about the Rover. I have never seen another Tourer video on you tube so i felt it was appropriate to tell its story. I finally got round to put something together to tell its story on you tube. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍

@@harryproud9679 Thank you Mr Proud for your interest. The interest is appreciated but the car is not currently for sale. You echo a lot of my sentiments about how i try to care for my cars. Interesting to hear about your current vehicles. I am a big fan of the 5 series (and to premept any questions I 'm not wanting to part exchange either but merely commenting on the 5 series) i think they are much underrated and i think both BMW and Mercedes hit a sweet spot with the styling of their cars during the mid to late nineties. I've had one of my cars for 34 years so i know what you say about not wanting to get rid. Thanks again.

I can never understand why MG/Rover invested money in engineering the 75/ZT for rear wheel drive and plonking a V8 under the bonnet to produce models that no one asked for and that would sell in tiny numbers, especially when the company urgently needed new models in order to secure its long term future.
@timgriggs8592

Completely agree - retooling the 75 shell for RWD would have cost a lot of money they didn't have. It looks now as if the directors were flailing around trying to find a way forward - the MG SV, the CityRover, and the 75/ZT V8s were wastes of valuable time and funds.😢

Your not alone in this way of thinking. I have always been a big BMC/BL/Austin Rover/MG fan and when the company went into administration you would never have thought it could of happened. It was a sad day for all concerned ,people at the factory and their families MG/Rover fans etc. It was a big loss, like Woolworths.

Was this one of the Pheonix 4s cars?
@TipTopMotors.
@TipTopMotors. 4 ай бұрын
It wasn't one of the Phoenix four cars. There is a V8 Tourer that was built for and owned by John Edwards. It left the factory painted in a monogram colour "Chatsworth"(a Bronze/gold colour). When bought by its new owner a funeral director i believe it was painted in Raven Black (top) and Moroccan Red lower half(a Jaguar colour). Thanks for your interest.👍

Late 75s and ZT/ZT-Ts, like this one with a Bx04xxx or Bx05xxx plate, were often built to internal orders for senior people - usually loaded with options and very highly specified. As with the Range Rover Vogue in the 80s, it seems like the target market was internal, not external.... (when Jaguar was privatised, BL directors turned to Range Rovers, but at that point there wasn't a highly-specified model yet).

Thanks for your interest but the car isn't currently for sale. In answer to your other points all 75V8 were autos, the MG were manuals. This one doesn't have a sun roof which some may think a negative ,but it can actually be a benefit no sunroof issues etc. Not meaning to rub it in but you probably saw its has just a little over 20,000 miles on the clock. Thanks for watching and there will be more info to follow on this car and its history. 👍

Yes your quite right. The problem was i didn't have any proper footage of the drive it was just from my dash cam and it had private conversations on which i wanted to mute as it didn't add anything to the experience. The whole video was put together too late in the year and it should have been better really but i made the best of a bad job with what i had. When the car comes out of hibernation i may try again and take the car out. To be honest its quite a quiet car not at all vocal like the MG version and its got a second box on the exhaust so it doesn't scream like the MG with x power exhausts.
