Hi Marc, that is a nice model, I've never seen /looked at one before...nice interior, love the cup holder, looks like it's been designed well...fit and finish hey. Those riv nuts will do nicely securing the grill which I think is a great choice, like the 11 fine slats look. Topped off with ya spot light and new bonnet badge, matches nicely hey 😊

FRY-998 aha yeah I have had over 18 minis now to date. So yeah maybe a little obsessed. But had to sidewalks. Regretted selling mine back in 2009 so bought another in 2012. Which is this one. Yes I love the wheels definitely sets the car off for sure 👍

I really love the upholstery on those sidewalks. The tartan really suits them. Now Marc, tell me you treated those fresh drill holes with something before you put those rivnuts in mate. Pleeeese!

The grille and bonnet badge make it look like a late 70's front end, looks really smart. Violet is a gorgeous car but still doesn't beat the budget Clubman IMO.

Haha thanks Graeme she definitely has some sentimental value for sure. But look wise I love the others as well. Always a soft spot for the clubbys but the van is the one that needs to get on the road soon.

I like Violet's seats and door trims but then I was born in Scotland lol. Can't tell tho cos I've lived in the North East for 43 years, accent comes back when I cross the border again.

Hi , tip of the day, if you have a leaking rubber to metal pipe you can Flare the pipe. Put your clip after the flare. ✌️👍

Aha cup holders where from Japan but now abs motorsport make them so easy to get I love them proper road trip car this one. Yeah I love the wavy grill and it will return on the 89 project. Just fancied a change and love the older look of a mini.

Not really seen much of violet...... nice honest mini, must be fun to drive😉 i have small rubber washers between the bumper and body and grill etc it stops metal on metal 'chaffing, lol

Hi Marc, Didn't I hear you say you liked the nice clean look of the new grill? Would that not carry over to the nice clean look of your smooth bonnet with it's 70's badge? Bonnet straps would ruin that nice clean look and they really don't serve any real useful purpose unless you are planning on rallying. I know it's none of my business but I had to say it. @@SimpsonsClassics Missed a lot of your live chatting as it was mid morning here and I wanted to get on with working on my Mini resto. When I came in for lunch you were still on but near the end. When you can see light at the end of the tunnel it's hard to stop. I'm getting to the point where I'll have to stop and take it back to the painter to do the outside of the car then I can finish it. Keen spot. They are chrome covers that screw in. Think I got them from smifys bits many years back but you see them at shows

Loving the mods on Violet. The single spot looks ace and that cup holder looks so good. Do you need the later type heater for it to fit properly or would it fit around the single speed heaters (or even a Mk1 type). Oh and what supplier did you get the cup holder from?

Thanks buddy, glad you like the bits I have added. As for the cup holders not sure if there fit earlier cars but I guess you can make some bits up if need be. They are available at abs motorsport but mine came from Japan many years ago. Hope this helps

Looking good! I'm thinking of going for a very similar look with my car, I've currently got the grey version of your old Rover badge and the basic black 80s-90s grille, and will probably end up going for a 9 or 11 slat chrome grille with a Mk3 or earlier badge. Have you got any tips for swapping the badge over?

Jack Dolley Cheers thanks yes I love the earlier look of a mini so hence doing this. For swapping badges on this car the wholes all marched up so it was a case of swapping them over. I guess different badges this might not be the case.

It’s not my car so it would be unfair to try and beg you not to drill all of those holes to secure the bonnets straps, but PLEASE don’t video it as it would be far too horrible to watch! - and the grill looks great.
