Rover Reaching New Dock Diving Heights | Diesel Training | Leftovers and Couch Time

I’m a little behind, this is our Tuesday here at the farm. Freddo, Cutie and I were a little late to join the pack on their walk. Freddo squeezed in a quick dip before his walk, it’s another hot day.
A few brief chats about Lily, Cruiser, Tank and Chop.
We head to the pool for the most of the day. Rover is incredible with his dock diving now, what an acrobat/athlete he is!
Lily joins us for big ball time. Woohoo Lily!!
In the evening it’s leftover time. Cup of tea time. Find our spot time. Find our snuggle buddy time. And dream of all the wonderful adventures that await us tomorrow… and every day after that. ❤️❤️❤️

Diesel’s success shows how powerful the pack is for healing. The poor dog was confined so he had to create mind games to survive, and yet he has been able to let go of his previous coping strategies to learn about social life. I am so proud of him and so grateful for all the Farm does.

I believe Luke's "Mojo" is this perfectly balanced mixture of love and healthy distance. Combined with his skills in "dog language makes him the perfect pack leader. I guess the clear yes/no on/off communication is very well percieved by the dogs. Not to mention his energy, commitment and passion which the dogs also can rely on. They are simply safe with him. You have to be a very special person to combine all these features.

All that noise, excitement, and movement and Til Til stands on the ramp, immoveable, the dogs go round her and continue on. Tilly just does her own thing, swims, and plays with her toy, but only when she is ready. It's easy to miss this magnificent dog who is confident in her role at the Farm. I love the Tilly.

It's interesting to note how Luke's approach to pack development incorporates obvious skills learned in the military. I have seen a lot of other dog trainers/behavior specialists who are good at training specific behaviors they want individual dogs to learn, but who seem unaware of or unable to manage the pack's roles in the "unit" like Luke, especially when the backgrounds of the canines under his command are so varied (and rough). Watching everything progress over time (especially the first twelve to eighteen weeks upon arrival), legitimately reminds me of induction training/boot camp. In my mind I have started calling The Farm "Fort Jilliby." It's such an awesome way to pass the time, witnessing the transformation of these wonderful canine misfits into lean, mean, cuddling machines.

Yeah absolutely, unfortunately lots of doggo's cop a bad rap. I was surprised a few weeks ago some one even giving the poor old Greyhounds a grilling. I have had a couple of retired Greyhounds in my time and they are the most easy going Doggo's on this planet. We called our's PCW Inc - Professional Couch Warmers inc, ha ha. Yet because racing greyhounds have to wear muzzles in public, (at least where I live) people think they are vicious monsters, waiting like a coiled spring to launch themselves at the throat's of the general public, at any moment. One of the most bitey dogs I have ever had was a Labrador. He had been horrifically abused as a little puppy so he didn't like strangers, both the K9 and human variety. People would see a happy, round Lab romping around the yard or jumping on the trampoline with the kids and a few other harmless looking dogs and think they could just open the gate and walk in. Even with a sign on the gate warning people. Not right, not at all. He would chase any one right back out said gate. Only ever bit 1 person to my knowledge but chased many, many people. In the end we had to lock our front gate and rig up a door bell so they could get hold of us, if need be.

I love how when the majority of the dogs were on the other side of the fence, they just wanted to get to you Sam! But my eyes caught one dog's attention on you the most - Shadow! And when she finally got to the opening, she ran for you and did not leave your space thereafter. Even after you met up and continued the walk with Luke. You are her and Hope's person for sure. I loved watching you caress Freddo - could not help but wonder whether he ever got loved the way you love him in his past life. Maybe I am slow to have witnessed it in previous videos, but this is the FIRST time I have seen Cruiser relax and actually sit and lay down!!! 😁 He has come a long way fast!

The two songs at the beginning really fit all the dogs - “you bring out the best in me” and “open up my heart and you’ll find love” and “you don’t have to cover up your scars”. All the dogs that have come through the gates, for a short time or forever, have found that - acceptance, love, the help they need to be the best -scars (mostly emotional) and all. Truly a special place for the lost ones. “For there is nothing lost, that may be found if sought”.

What a snuggly bear is our Freddo, but he's keeping watch over his kingdom. Cutey Pie on grooming duty with Abra, "wait, hooman coming". What a special treat for Freddo having the pool to himself, now's he can do the walk without getting overheated. There's all the beautiful faces coming for a cuddle from Mum. I love the bum wiggle from Shadow. It's lovely seeing Cruiser wanting one on one time. I would have thought he has the genes that it's "know the boss of the pack or you don't survive". Lily fits perfectly to get a wonderful chin and back massage. Cruiser just doesn't eat the treat but wears it like perfume ☺☺☺☺☺. "Treats, but we love you"😍😍😍😍. It's so funny seeing Tilly on the ramp entertaining herself with her toy, the others just dodge Tilly and she is totally in her own playtime. The leaps/flying are magic to watch, never tire of the normal and slo mo pace. Rosco doesn't let go and Miss Violet never gives up trying to snatch it from him, priceless. I'm sure any Water Volleyball team would be put to shame with the Farm team with their speed and agility. C'mon on Cruiser take the plunge. The food fork feed is so gentle and delicate. That was funny, Kittty turned and looked at Rover and he stopped dead. Special snuggles from Kitty for Dad, Shadow wants to get up on the lap but will take a head scratch instead. Its just wonderful to see Cruiser’s fluffy tail up high waving and wagging the whole time. Seeing him come in for pats and sitting calmly with Luke, Sam and the pack. He looks so happy already. Such an impressive dock diving session here

When you see Rover's athleticism it is a joy to behold. I can't begin to imagine how uncomfortable he must have been carrying around a uterus in a body (from memory it weighed several kilos) that wasn't made to hold it. It must have been exhausting & frustrating and then you add the hermaphrodite hormone mix coursing through his veins - poor Rover. It was a credit to his toughness that he still wanted to run & play at all. I think fate intervened when Dee, Luke & Sam came across this lovely dog. Loving humans have given him the chance to become the dog he was meant to be & boy, is he loving life. Had he stayed where he was the chances of him being diagnosed, let alone having major surgery would have been microscopic. The only 'sign' of those tough times is his urinary incontinence. Good people like Luke & Sam (and maybe someone else out there) cope with the downside of this so Rover can be his best self. I'd love to see Rover on some sort of 'Farm Agility Course'. He'd be in his element and I'm guessing Joey might be keen to give him a run for his money, too, given her competitive nature. Nevaeh would have excelled in this fun, too. xxx

In the Farm canine Olympics Joey and Banjo might be the sprinters, but Rover was today's high jump champion. Best for me was when running back up the ramp he cleared Tilly in a single bound! Cruiser is really getting to suss out life at the Farm, and he's so interested in the water, can't imagine it will be too long before he's in there. Kitty-Rose obviously loves time with her humans when it's selling down at night. 💖💖💖💖💖
