This was a good theory. I definitely think the Breaths were a lure and he had a coppermind.

Maybe the difference of the twinkling lights or all the investiture that we’ve seen on Roshar? Also, I’m trying to rewatch the video but it’s not loading for some reason...

We know Hoid is an allomancer, he did eat one of preservation’s metals, but is he a feurchamist? I don’t think he has ever demonstrated feurchamist abilities so I question the coppermind theory. Although it could be unkeyed metal minds as demonstrated in mistborn era 2 I still think it’s unlikely.

Your single best video. I am 100% sure that you nailed the basics, and the memory coin is a great call. I disagree with some of the finer points of your unified theory, and think Hoid has even more awareness of the situation than you suggest. This explains why he thinks both versions of the meeting went exactly as planned - the second time, he's referencing the entirety of both interactions.

Good points. I never thought to ask why Hoid was there above and beyond cracking wise. However, Adolin gives Kaladin a coin from Nalthis before he departs for Lasting Integrity. I think there is something to TOd not understanding Wit's pun of cents and nonsense. A Rosharan wouldn't get that pun. But I think Rayse would have, even if he didn't find it funny. Rayse can't have been that stupid. Lastly, I think Broken gods specifies that Odium is still bound by his former promises (technically he promised not to destroy karbranth, he didn't promise to destroy humanity except karbranth). Hoid voided whatever his earlier agreement with Rod was when he appeared in Kaladin's dream to give him soup. But he tried to remake the deal by writing back into the contract between Rod and Dalinar. I would love to get a copy of that contract, but will probably have to wait until part one of book 5's epigraphs.
@LoreoftheWorlds3 жыл бұрын
All very good points. Out of curiosity, what makes you think Hoid voided a contract during kaladin's dream? And I completely forgot about the coin from Nalthis- def one of those things I just didn't retain on the first read-through. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of weirdness having to do with Odium and his contract with Taravangian, but honestly can't even think of what implications there will be.

@@LoreoftheWorlds "I can't keep this bubble up much longer I'm afraid." Wit said, "He'll notice if I do-and then he'll destroy me. I have violated our agreement, which exposes me to his direct action. I'd rather not be killed, as I have seven more people I wanted to insult today" p. 920 The Dog and the Dragon. My friend pointed this out to me. I missed it too.

I get so irritated by the Hoid stans who can't accept that someone beat him in any way. For the record, Brandon has confirmed by now that Vargodium flat-out won that encounter, Hoid was hornswoggled. I have heard a million people all talking about how it's a 100% sure thing that Hoid absolutely won that encounter. It's based purely on the idea that they want their boy to be perfect. It's so trite.
@eloaba573 жыл бұрын
When Hoid went to Braize s Vision on Kaladin he stated that he was letting himselve vulnerable. I would think Rayse did not know that he helped Kaladin neither Taravangian but that Taravangian trying what he could do to Hoid he destroyed t'he breaths wich were previusly untoucheable cos of the contract but as he helped Kaladin those Breaths now are manipulable by Odium and Taravangian accidentaly found this new hole on t'he contract

I think Odium is going to be released with full power, and take over all Roshar. Kal, bridge Four, and shallan will most likely die after they speak their final ideals, but die heroically. While Dalinar does a Sazed, using the storm fathers connection to honor to become the vessel for honor, but Tod anticipates this and finally shatters the honor shard. Cultivation will probably bend to odium in order to survive, not to mention Odium plus Cultivation would be pretty OP. Imagine the galactic threat that would ensue in the third era... an Odium controlled Roshar, using corrupted fused, Thunderclasts, and whatever else at Odiums disposal, invading the other planets with shards... seems like the scale and stakes sanderson loves to set up for a conclusion to the cosmere as a whole

@@LoreoftheWorlds (Big Spoilers) wow. Just finished Rhythm of War. I was not expecting that amount of complexity. I mean, seons, full discussions of Investiture, Shards, Shardworlds, revelations of Hoid, mentioning dragons, Vasher using Awakening, the main characters knowing in detail about the Cosmere, and detailed talk of Ascention. And that epilogue as well, scary and brilliant (so, Hoid "hacked" the system to use Breaths to store memories instead of Metalminds). Not to mention the full sci-fantasy Navani chapters. And to think I got excited when Nalthis and Scadrial were mentioned in the beginning. I had no idea. I'm kind of on the fence though. Book 4 Brandon? I thought less than half of this would make it into book 5, and the latter half of the series would be devoted to the Cosmere stuff. I'm still pretty surprised. (Poor Teft)
