Every piece of our city comes together to create a community we’re proud to call home. We're excited to share the FY2025 Adopted Budget, thoughtfully assembled to enhance services and keep Rowlett moving forward!
🧩 *Rowlett Police Department*
We're investing in our Police Department with $1.3 million in compensation enhancements for our dedicated officers and dispatchers. Plus, we're adding new positions:
3 Communications Officers
1 Police Records Clerk
1 Code Enforcement Officer
0.5 Quartermaster
For **Rowlett Fire Department**, we're allocating $1 million to retain 9 firefighters from an expiring SAFER grant, ensuring rapid and reliable emergency response.
🛠️ *Rowlett Public Works*
A $400,000 compensation enhancement for key Public Works positions is on the way. We're launching a Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan with $115.7 million for FY25, funding vital infrastructure projects that support our growing city.
🌳 *Rowlett Parks & Recreation*
Exciting times ahead! Look forward to Kids Kingdom improvements and the grand reopening of Wet Zone Waterpark in Summer 2025.
📚 *Rowlett Public Library*
Great news! Starting October 1, the library is going **fine free**, making it easier than ever to enjoy our resources without worry.
💼 *Economic & Community Engagement*
We're attracting new businesses and families with redesigned Economic Development and City websites. Plus, City Communications continues to keep you informed and engaged.
💧 *Water and Sewer Rates*
While water and wastewater rates will see a modest 2.9% increase due to external factors, we've paused the issuance of $7 million in annual water and sewer bonds to keep rates as low as possible.
🚛 *New Solid Waste Services*
As we transition to Republic Services, residential rates will be reduced by 1%. It might seem small, but it's a welcome change in a world where costs are constantly rising.
