Sep 15th 2024.... Why ever did the mighty algorithm think I needed this? Now? I needed this now.

And me? Two days later? I think for me it started with checking out MonoNeon - "They're Eating The Dogs, They're Eating The Cats" and spiraled from there...

Same! Oct 9th. The algorithm just decided that everyone needs a little pick me up.

College band, back in 1991: at our annual banquet while waiting for tables to be cleared for dancing, our drum line spontaneously played an entire sequence using flatware, glasses, table top, etc. Good times!

I love this. It’s not just a group of men drumming. It’s team work, it’s supporting each other, learning from each other, compromising, respecting each other. All important life lessons, but they think they’re just having fun. And schools around the country want to cut music programs when funds get tight. Don’t let that happen. My granddaughters took piano and cello during their school years. As adults they now play piano, cello, trombone, bass, guitar, ukulele, and are starting to learn the flute.

Notice how every drummer from the beginning of time bobs their head as soon as they start playing? I love it!

How did I miss this all these years. AMAZING!! Love this. I was drummer in Drum and Bugle Corps 1960s but they are much more talented than I was !!!! Beautiful!!❤️❤️👍

My 40-year-old son did something similar to this in high school. Blue Man Group and Stomp made this popular. Very fun!
@catatonicbug7522Ай бұрын
This type of percussion performance/competition was popular long before Blue Man Group and Stomp. Drum lines have been doing roll-offs as a source of pride for as long as there have been marching bands.

How fun. 8 players make an octave, as the riff at ~2:30. Would be fun to see the same routine with a mix of wood stools and metal stools. Add two metal step ladders to the mix? Would be a fun cacaphony! Keep up the fun work.

A couple years back my middle school band teacher took his most talented percussionists (one of which could play 4 mallets at a time) and taught them this for a solo and ensemble comp and they won by a huge margin bc the judges were practically drooling over the song

Look up the Stomp show back in the 90s. We also saw the classic Anna Kendricks Cups routine in Pitch Perfect, although that came from Anna Burden's YT version, itself from the LandShapes YT pages. The message came from the Vocal Instrumentation extension to acappella, originally, which allowed impro percussion.
