For the counterweight I recommended metal gate's roller wheels.. I use it and it works.

Otis, thanks sooo much for these videos. I have a 7D with a 50mm lens that is around 1kg in weight. Are you saying that I need to put just over 1kg of weight on the counterweight below? and do you include the stabilizer arm in that weight? thanks

If my camera weighs 1.2 pounds does that mean if i put 1.2 pounds of weight on the bottom it should be even weight?
@OtisOriginals
@OtisOriginals 5 жыл бұрын
No, because of the distance from the fulcrum point. You will generally always have less counterweight at the bottom than what your camera weighs. For a full explanation on how to figure out which weights to use please watch my main balancing tutorial...here is the link for the first part: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6DcYpmlac-trtE I hope this helps to answer your question.

Otis, If you still review comments on this channel, would it not work to simply extend the supplied weights further from the camera via a longer bolt? Or is it necessary to add weight to the bottom for some reason?
@OtisOriginals
@OtisOriginals 5 жыл бұрын
Mark, that is a very valid question. And actually you would be correct in your assumption. Moving the weights further from the fulcrum point would have the same effect as the weights being slightly heavier. You would just need to use another nut on the longer bolt on the top side of the weights...to keep them from sliding up or down on the new longer bolt. Thanks so much for your observation and contribution. And thanks for watching.

Hi Otis little question for you what one would you recommend out of these two stabilizers - with the Canon 80D The Roxant pro or Neewer Carbon Fiber 24 inches/60 centimeters Handheld Stabilizer Many thanks Richard
@OtisOriginals
@OtisOriginals 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard. The Canon 80D with battery and kit lens (18mm-55mm) weighs 2.8 pounds, which is above Roxant's recommended weight limit of 2.1 pounds. I do have another video on here that shows how to balance cameras up to around 3 pounds on the Roxant Pro, but you will have to add some extra weight to the bottom of the stabilizer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3-WpYCoht2Lhac If you are going to get a larger lens or balance heavier cameras, you might want to go with a different and larger type of stabilizer. Thanks for your question, and thanks for watching.

I like the DIY solution. But I wonder why Roxant doesn't just sell an accessory that simply has a longer bolt and a few more ounces of weight? Cost to manufacture would be cheap. Cost of shipping would be cheap. And they can still sell it at a slight premium.

Hello dear, I have a 7D camera I want to balance but I can not make it with this note I measured the weight of the camera 1.15 kg and the hard 625 How can I balance
@OtisOriginals
@OtisOriginals 5 жыл бұрын
1.15kg = 2.53 pounds, which should be ok if you follow the instructions in my video here for balancing heavy cameras. But I'm not sure what the "hard 625" means? Is that the weight of an additional lens? You can try watching part 2 of my series on How To Balance Any Camera kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZyuZIijgJ2inrM, and at 13 minutes and 33 seconds i show how I balance a 7D with a small prime lens. Maybe that will help you? Thanks for watching.

Is nikon d5200 with a standard lense belong here? I am having a hard balancing my nikon D5200

As long as your camera (with the lens, battery and memory card) weighs 2.1 pounds or less you should have no problems balancing it. If it is heavier than that (up to 3 pounds, but no more than that) you might want to watch my video "How to Balance Heavy Cameras": kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3-WpYCoht2Lhac Thank you for your question, and thanks for watching.

Pretty sure it's just a metric M6 bolt - just too mine to Home Depot and it fits the M6 perfectly! Just not a standard bolt in the non-metric sense!
@OtisOriginals
@OtisOriginals 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andrew. I knew it was very close to a 1/4"-20 but not exactly. I'll try to find an M6 bolt next time I'm out.
