Thanks for the tip about pressing the pairing button. I have just got the NES30 controller with retro receiver. It worked great with the NES but notice the button mapping issue on the snes mini. I also wanted to uses the SN30 controller with the reciever and it was not working. I thought I had done the firmware upgrade (now 1.20) but did not pressing the pairing button. The receiver was still on 1.03. I have now managed to get the CN30 working on the snes mini :) I have ordered another receiver for the snes mini/cn30 controller combo.

I understand that, what I'm saying is that they actually released two different variants of the classic receivers, one that was 2.4 gigahertz and one that was Bluetooth. If you pick up the Bluetooth version, it will work with your sn30

Does this also allow using both analog sticks separately like you would on original system, for example on PS1 games do both sticks work as intended? I would get it if it works that way with Switch Pro Controller.

1 . Power on 8BitDo controller (Dinput) to enter pairing mode. 2. Insert Retro Receiver into console and then press the pairing button (the LED will rapidly blink). 3. Wait until your Retro Receiver and your 8BitDo controller's LEDS are both solid blue. 4. Your controller is now paired.

I have a question. Wasn't the retro receiver for the SNES Classic designed to work with the SNES Classic? Why did they make it so you need to update the firmware in order to work with the SNES Classic? Why not make it work right out of the box? Were they originally made for a different console? Looking at the receiver port it looks like it was specifically made for the NES/SNES classic editions.

The port is the same for the NES and SNES Classics, however there was no button mapping loaded for the X/Y/L/R buttons originally. This is why the firmware update was needed.

Hi there, thanks for the great content! The only thing that confuses me is that the 8bit do controllers are 2.4ghtz - but the 8bitdo classic receivers seem to be Bluetooth - they work? I've been looking for one snes wireless controller that will work with my SNES original hardware, my snes classic and my nes classic (both with hakchi)

So they did both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz versions, Bluetooth was the original, and 2.4 GHz later on. They will not work with each other

So the answer is they're used to be. 8-bit dill came out with something they called the Retro-Receiver which basically plugged into the Super Nintendo, and then they had another version that would plug into the Super Nintendo Mini. I am 99% sure that has long been discontinued however

So they have sold to Retro receivers, one that is only 2.4 gigahertz and one that is Bluetooth. For the most part, the 2.4 gigahertz one is only sold as a replacement for the one that comes with their controller sets, where the Bluetooth receiver can work with any Bluetooth controller. So you just need to make sure that you buy the right one for your needs

I know this might sound daft but I assume that the only way to connect the receiver to the PC is by plugging the console to the PC while the receiver is connected to the console. Just received my controller and it connects but none of the buttons work.

There's a micro USB port on the side of the Retro receiver, you can use that to connect to the PC for updates

Correct, 2.4 and Bluetooth are different protocols and frequencies, not compatible with each other

you are correct, that should sync right up. I'm actually in the process of working on a video showing how to do that exact same thing but with the Super Nintendo controller instead of the Genesis controller. Probably by the end of the week that should be up.

When trying to get my Retro Receiver to be recognized via my Windows 10 install on my MacBook via Bootcamp, it NEVER recognizes my Retro Receiver so the light on the receiver does not light up so the software recognizes it. Any suggestions? I may try my desktop but I'd have to pull it out of the closet.

Ohhhhh, sorry I was thinking the USB dongle not the NES/SNES Classic one. I wonder if it's a driver issue since you're running that configuration. I have a PC so can't really say, sorry. I haven't messed with a Mac in almost 3 years

I may just pull out my desktop and see what results it gives me. Not sure why the MacBook USB ports do not seem to give the correct power to the Retro Receiver since they do everything else fine. I am also try updating it in MacOS since the 1.10 firmware download shows it can be done that was as well. Thanks and I will reply back with what I find. I enjoy your videos as well. It's been awhile since I messed around with this, I actually unmodded my system. I don't remember but I don't think there's anywhere in the software that allows you to tweak to the controller settings

@@RoXolid there is! I actually just figured it out a few minutes ago. It said something in the instructions after pressing hot key to hold down and select. I don't have a hot key so i just held down and select then the LED flashed red and it's fine. The annoying thing is I talked to their customer service, Who was awesome and got back to me promptly. However he told me to boot it in different configs and that obviously never worked.
