Found Roxy Music by chance in 1978 I was 14. Punk was finished and all these cracking post punk bands and new wave bands were kicking of in the UK. At the local record store I saw the cover for For Your Pleasure. And that was me. A Roxy fan for life.

The first few Roxy Music albums are an essential part of my diet. They were so ahead of the pack. The only RM album that I can't jive with is Flesh and Blood. To me, it sounds like a transitional album. They were finding their footing, but hadn't tapped into an inspired approach yet. Arguably, this started with Manifesto, but that record still has elements of their previous records. It all paid off with Avalon, which is much more fully realized.

I'm a big fan of Roxy but I don't think this is live, at least the video doesn't agree with the audio. Perhaps "Live At The Royal College of Art" means the video is from a live concern, while the audio is from the studio album. Not complaining, just it would be surprising if they could play it live exactly as it is on the album. Especially Eno's part since it's with an analog synth and Phil's guitar riffs and fills.

Actually, the Beatles were quite UNfashionable in the UK at this time, a rebound of sorts which makes sense… however, Bowie/Ferry/Roxy et al were fans of course, the Beatles are WHY we have so many great bands on both sides of the Atlantic.
