Its really great to hear all these old Roxy tunes again. In the 70s I would decorate my bedroom with the album covers. I was lucky to have the original Country Life album cover.

Always great to see someone's first reaction to a song I've loved for years. Roxy Music had toned down their avant garde sound by then but still combined new ideas with amazing musical talent. This song with its long intro, and unconventional lyric structure, shows they still were trying different things.

In my top 5 Roxy songs, beautiful, otherworldly & spooky, vintage Roxy Music, totally unique. Thanks for your great reaction, I haven't seen anyone react to this song, BRAVO!!!

I always think they're doing the same three songs in one they did with 'If There Is Something", but a little more compact. Warms the heart.

The song that leads into it - 'The end of the line' is also good.

IMO Siren was the last of their 1st 5 albums. All 5 were groundbreaking. This is my favorite song off this release. This song was the opener when they toured this album and a great show opener at that. Interesting fact...the model on the cover is named Jerry Hall, and became Bryan Ferry's girlfriend for a while. After that, she started dating and then married Mick Jagger.

The song is a dialogue, look at the text as shown in Ferrys edition of all his lyrics.

One of the few tunes I like from this album. I have to admit my interest in Roxy Music is seriously waning by the time Siren is released. They seemed to be becoming more corporate and less experimental as time and albums went by. But this, feels like it should be on an earlier album to me. The long intro with Phil Manzanera's crazy guitar part and Andy Mackay's blazing sax leans backwards into the more experimental thing i loved about them.

Ditto. I quit with Roxy Music on Manifesto release.

The cover girl was super model Jerry Hall who he was engaged to at the time

Come on! You have to admit Roxy Music's music is very unusual, yet strangely alluring. You won't get this stuff coming from the musical treadmill bands. Isn't that what always fascinates? Don't you want the unusual and unique? I believe this was one of the album covers that the American model Jerry Hall appeared on, Jerry Hall being Bryan Ferry's first wife. His second wiife is an aristocrat to whom he has been married for three decades or more.

Hall and Ferry never married. She left him for Jagger - the bogus man.

BTW I just saw their 50th anniversary show last night in Boston. Terrific show. It even included a nice musical tribute to Queen Elizabeth.

Early Roxy Music was really creative, around the time of the release of the album 'Siren' which this track is from there were rumours of the band splitting up due to inner conflicts of which direction to go in, of course things did change in the future around the time of the album 'Manifesto', if you listen to 'Siren' all the way through you can hear the different feel that some of the tracks have which fit better with their sound in the future. Please could you react to some of, Bryan Ferry's solo work from around this time? Tracks that I suggest would be 'Let's Stick Together', 'The Price of Love' (both covers of Everly Brothers songs), and 'It's Only Love' (a cover of a John Lennon song).
@Sandy-dd4le Жыл бұрын
I'd second Lets Stick Together, fabulous sax driven monster of a tune... particularly if you can do the official video, which features Jerry Hall giving the most abysmal display of lip syncing the universe has ever known.

@@Sandy-dd4le Yes, she was hilariously bad in that video.

@@Sandy-dd4le I don't remember the lip syncing. My jaw was on the floor & my eyes on stalks from the moment she made her entrance.

Let's stick together was never a cover of the Everley brothers it was Bryan ferry's idea of a wilbert Harrison track let's work together

Roxy Music just started a 50th anniversary tour a few days ago. There are KZbin videos up. The band sounds great but, alas, Bryan Ferry’s voice isn’t what it was.
