Yeah, I don't remember his name but he was an adventurer who found a way to distinguish the right teleportation circles. But, it wasn't foolproof, and he ended up in a trap and barely survived and decided to retire

I would have really liked for the animators to have spliced in 10 second scenes of "someone" struggling through the dungeon throughout the episode, leading to Roxy's reveal at the end. They are also missing out on another arc. I demand at least 30 seconds per episode going forward dedicated to the mad sword king.

It's funny to see Rudeus thinking of him as "last priority" when he is the one going to rescue his father. Rudeus wouldn't be in priority since he is in equal footing with Paul, and maybe Paul may think of Rudeus above him since he sees himself as a failure as a father to Rudeus and Rudeus being a genius boy coming to rescue him even when his wife is pregnant.

The idea that a member of a long-lived race would routinely fail to recognize humans should be a lot more common. To an elf, 10 years might be like a few months. If they routinely only associate with other elves or even dwarves, they would expect people to look exactly the same from decade to decade, with some exceptions being made for elf children who might grow quite fast, maturing in a mere 100 years. A human student growing from a child to an adult in 10 years would just be jaw-dropping, and they wouldn't get used to that unless they routinely associated with humans or people with a similar lifespan.

personally i'm hoping all the skipped content and downgraded animation quality is so they could spend all the budget on the hydra fight. Since a lot of stuff happens there that needs to be taken with meticulous consideration, like the losses need weight and if the animation just shows some 2 Dimensional fight like with roxy fighting the ever so slowly and non dodging army of bugs and weird yeti thingies advancing towards her, i'mma go out on a limb and say it won't have as much impact, for example when rudeus fought Orsted the animation was top notch and the stakes felt real, i was literally praying for rudeus. But the anime downplayed Roxxy's suffering and the first thing i said was really she's pissing herself!??!?.... don't get me wrong though, i still loved the episode.

This could actually be an excellent use of OVAs to show the perspective of other characters like Eris during her training or in this case, Roxy and her time spent surviving alone in the labyrinth. They (kinda) already did it with Sylphie with season 2 episode 0.

I love the way Elinalise has developed as a character in season 2. She's gone from ecchi elf in season 1, to an awesome warrior elf with a tragic back story. When the team were discussing Roxy in the anime, and Rudy was starting to withdraw in despair, she was aware of how he could be feeling enough to bring him back to reality with a reassuring hand on his shoulder. Elinalise's cool head, skills (fighting and navigation), banter, and support of those that she holds dear (especially during the warriors of the desert chapter) is why she's the (IMHO) the best grandma in anime.

The anime is doing a great job of covering the story within the time given, but the last three skipped content videos from Andrew have been fire. The world building in the Mushoku Tensei is fantastic, so adding all the context and juicy details from the light novel helps to make this story top tier.

During a second viewing I noticed two things I missed (subtitles do be distracting), 37:57 they took the time to show Geese brushing the sole of his boots, nice little detail. Also, Elinalise skewering a spider on the end of her sword as it leaps at her, then effortlessly flicking it away before dispatching the next. 🕷🤺

I expected an entire episode from Roxy's perspective simply because it was quite dramatic. Her trying to desperately survive would be an amazing episode from start to finish when Rudy finally shows up. But God knows why exactly they skipped it all and replaced it with no emotional buildup expect Roxy pssing herself which didn't even happen. I don't know if i'm keeping the bar too high but they reduced an 10/10 episode to 7/10 episode which is just sad i think..

Spoiler for season 3 I guess: . . . . When Rudeus is "defeated" by Orsted and brings home Eris, Lilia offers to move out of his house with Zenith so that the house isn't too cramped. Rudeus doesn't even let her finish the sentence and says he wants all of his family to be together. In his thoughts he says that he'd feel like a scumbag for kicking his mothers out. Rudeus himself doesn't feel too strong of a familial connection to Zenith. He will even say so in the later episodes of the current season. And if anything, it was Lilia who was more often providing the type of care that a mother would. So in Rudeus' head, he does genuinely see both Lilia and Zenith as his mothers.

Despite the Man God telling Rudy not to go to help save his mother, it's interesting how the Man God paved a way for him by telling him to research into the displacement incident. During his research with Fitz to end up learning about a book detailing the teleportation labyrinth. Through research to end up crossing paths with Nanahoshi. Without those pieces the journey to save Zenith would've been harder. Then once the option came up, tells him to stay instead. Edit: Wow I said this before this part was brought up lol 34:50

Unfortunately that was the 'opening' last season. They dont hace the time.or budget this season. The opening and ending are 2 minutes of screen time wasted for budget reasons. By the end of the season we will have 2 less episodes in content compared to season 1.

But with MT , I enjoyed the anime so much I didn't want to read ahead, because it tends to ruin the anime afterwards. But I was torn when I realised how much detail from the LN they were skipping. They love Roxy given how well her solo episode was with her family, I can only imagine the next episode is her perspective, and something of a humorous capping off of her peril with her interaction with Rudy. I'd be VERY surprised if they didn't. Also- A MONTH! That little self-conscious ball of anxiety and self-deprecation toughed it out A MONTH in an S-tier dungeon SOLO.
