In the LN Roxy doesn't actually do that. Rudeus caves after she goes off on a whole tangent, and he says he was rather rough with her (granted it couldn't have been that rough since he hadn't been eating much, if at all, for probably 2 weeks - he lost track of how many days it had been).

In the LN there was a scene in a bar in Rapan before Roxy went to find Rudeus in his bedroom. (It was cut from the anime, but Roxy mentioned some of the content later in the episode) Basically Elinalise, Geese, Talhand, and Roxy were drinking. On one hand they were mourning on Paul. but they all agree Paul definitely died proudly to protect his son. Mostly they were sad that the Fangs of Black Wolf will never come back together anymore. Another thing they were discussing was Rudeus being shut in his room for more than a week, not even in the mood of eating stuff. They all understand Rudeus was devastated by basically losing both parents and a left hand, but they also think he needs to move on soon. Geese then brought up that Lise always said that to cheer up a man the best way to do is to find a woman to sleep with him, and Lise normally would be the first person to do that as she is confident with her skills of doing so. Lise mentioned she cannot be Rudy's opponent because Rudy married her granddaughter and they promised to not cross this line no matter what. Roxy was shocked to know Rudy was married (yes she only knew until this bar conversation) and spilled her drink. At the end both Geese and Lise agreed that Rudy is a strong man, he will gather himself together and move on soon so they decided to do nothing with him, but Roxy knowing the weak and fragile part of Rudy thinks that Rudy surely couldn't get up by himself (which she is right) and if nobody go give him a hand he will eventually die then and there. This conversation made Roxy to make up her mind to seduce Rudy, and as you can see, the anime made her quite aggressive, on one hand she thinks she's helping Rudy but on the other hand she is totally taking advantage of Rudy on his lowest. This whole plot was super messy and fricked up, but after Roxy giving herself out, Rudy did realize he needs to get himself together and start to move on.

Completely agree. I don’t think enough people appreciate how seriously and maturely this show tackles controversial topics like Polygamy. Even if “harems” are a common anime trope, this show doesn’t treat it like a trope or find lazy excuses to make it happen. People would also be mistaken to assume that this show in anyway is directly endorsing many of the frowned upon things that happen. This show is big about family and tackles the idea of how to take extreme lot flawed characters who make unforgivable mistakes and find a way to forgive them, forgive themselves, and move forward. No living character is completely good or completely bad. Just because you do great things or awful things doesn’t mean you’re a great or awful person. It just makes you human* and how do you live with that. * = “human” phrasing encompasses all races in this show

True, and in the world people USED to love REDEMPTION stories, loved to see someone who has a really hard time and return from it and do great things with themselves. Nowadays, people love to tear people down, bash people and gang up on them, and just ruin people over mistakes.. Yes, a bunch of stuff was actually cut. To answer your question, it has been a little over a week since they rescued Zenith and Rudy is not eating. He's barely drinking water, and they're concerned he will die. Geese has taken a group back into the labyrinth to collect all the treasure left in the boss room including the hydra scales that negate magic. Unfortunately they need Rudy to make it back home, and the way he is now he'd die on the way, and then they would too. Rudy is the only one that can get them passed the sandstorms around the teleportation circle, and if they don't take that route it's a long trip across a dangerous continent with Zenith in bad shape. This is why Roxy sleeps with him to get him out of this funk. Elinalise suggests how to do it, but won't do it herself since she won't cheat on Cliff, or betray Sylphie. While not said Lise basically heavily implies that Roxy should sleep with Rudy. Roxy also doesn't think Rudy will go through with it since she thinks he won't find her body attractive. Rudy is also a bit more aggressive about it once she suggests sleeping together whereas here they made Roxy take far more control. Rudy tells Roxy something the next morning, but on the off chance they bring it up next episode I'll hold off on what that is. The stuff traveling through the desert is pretty close although the profits from the treasure were divided up with Rudy getting Paul's share as well as pieces of Talhand, Vierra and Shera's shares, all by their own request. Also the reason they blindfold everyone before getting to the teleporter circle because Geese in particular is a blabbermouth and would get drunk and tell everyone all about it if he knew the where and what of it. Also remember that Roxy is basically Lise's best friend at this point, and she's known Roxy longer than Sylphie. She's watched her best friend cry herself to sleep every night over this, which is why she's pushing for Roxy's happiness. She also lies to Rudy about Roxy being pregnant to get him to marry her, however I prefer how it was done in the anime more.

What’s so great about Norn is that she represents the majority of us as viewed. She’s completely normal. She’s not particularly talented or special in any way, so she has a unique perspective. She’s also a devout follower of Millis just like Zenith’s side of the family, so she will be the one who is most upset with Rudy not only cheating, but attempting to have two wives. But it’s such an interesting dynamic. I love her and her relationship with Rudy because it’s far from perfect, but they’re still brother and sister who care about each other.

14:00 sort of yes sort of no. The LN has some short bits during the trip back to the teleportation ruins, but it mostly just summarizes things. There are some interesting bits of dialogue, though, like how Jirou/Dillo the armadillo was terrified of the gryphons, and then Geese cooked one and ate it in front of Jirou, saying it's a trick he learned back on the Demon Continent that helps tamed monsters like that to understand that they don't need to worry about predators in their company, and Rudeus asks if it was a lizard-faced demon that told him that to which Geese pretty much responds with a "so you know him?" (callback to a random nameless character from the journey back home with Dead End). And Roxy gets jealous when Rudeus dispels the perpetual sandstorm on the way to the ruins by casting Sandstorm on it and then canceling the spell, and she says "so your earth magic is Saint-level, too." Also Talhand being completely unaffected by succubi.

Big cuts in this one. In the LN the party was discussing how it was strange that Elinalise didn't have sex with him yet, as she usually would in such cases. Which is where she revealed that he's been married to her granddaughter, meaning SHE couldn't be the one to do it. In shock over finding out Rudy was married Roxy proceeded to get drunk and eventually stepped up to the plate.

Glad you enjoyed the opening. I watched it most episodes and it spoiled nothing. They rarely do because you lack the context. The only people who think they will are those who have the context and thus can never be spoiled. The closest I came was people constantly saying I would be spoiled over and over again which made me start to scrutinize the opening which is when I largely stopped paying attention to it. An opening is part of the experience of a show. To skip it is to spoil that experience. I always say, don’t worry so much and just enjoy the show.

Apparently, he's not a fan. Because they actually made her look better. The original scenes that source-readers describe sound like they suck so much that I would have been insulted for Roxy instead. I hate then main characters don't have agency in their choices and instead only react to convoluted circumstances, used as excuses.

About the OP, Zenith looking like that was how Kirshirka saw Zenith. Remember, Roxy got her to use her eye to find the Greyrats when she helped her out in the Demon Continent, by paying her bar tab. They don't spoil Paul's death... but you might be able to see the foreshadowing there. Sunset, and them hiding Paul's full face... For the quick scenes that flipped where it starts with Norn in her room, a flower inside THE plastic bottle, Paul's gauntlet caressed by someone else (another foreshadow), the elven pendants, Sylphie looking pregnant (spoiler!), and Rapan of course. Then the final scene afterwards, you see Rudy going home and the girls waving back. But, interpret that as Rudy on the far left, and on the right side, it's empty now. Where Paul would've been in the previous scenes.... foreshadow! So yea, full of spoilers if you start to analyze and interpret what everything meant

Not to defend Rudy and Roxy , but the guy had been depressed and not eating for days/weeks. He was really not in the right state of mind to think. Roxy also was supposed to know about him being married, guess they cut it to make her less dislikeable by the masses. All things aside Rudy was going to die if left alone so they were desperate. It was still cheating ofc but it was better than the other alternative. PS: people underestimate Sylphy's devotion to Rudy.

This episode was perfect it fixed everything that i had a "problem" with. Mainly i just wanted them to communicate with eachother and they did. Everything was fixed. It was great that they where real woth eachother and the best part is Roxy saying to get approvel from your wife. They retconned a few things from the source material, I dont want to get into it because it would take to long, but in my mind they where for the better. 10 out of 10 episode my only grip is the beginning section was a little rushed and they cut out a scene that would have not made it rushed, but its no problem because the rest of the episode was perfect. Cant wait for next episode which is guarented to be a banger. Hopefully we will get confirmation of Season 3 soon.

Well even if Sylphie is totally chill with Rudeus dual wielding, it doesn't help that Rudeus actually promised Sylphie that he won't find more wives. The point isn't actually about dual wielding, rather Rudeus didn't keep his promise, and he's not sure how Sylphie will react to this. Also, even if Sylphie is cool about Rudy dual wielding, she can have opinions on who she's sharing her man with. She did say she is OK if Rudeus have more wives, but that totally doesn't mean she will accept any woman to join their family. If any, he should let Roxy and Sylphie meet then get her approval. (She actually does have a list of women who she doesn't want to share Rudy with, mostly because she thinks Rudy will leave her once these women come in the family)

​@@hhjan594funnily enough, one of those women is princess ariel, as seen in the novel, sylphy gets very jealous whenever rudy is alone with ariel Sylphy is not just fine with rudy having multiple wives, she basically expects him to have 3 or even 4 wives because of how he is, even when he promises she never held any hope, especially when shes pregnant and he had to hold himself back Most novel readers dislike this ep but imo its fine, just some important details were cut that wouldve made roxy look less like someone taking advantage of rudy and rudy look less of a liar for breaking his promise so readily

Getting a surrogate mother if she can't get pregnant or getting a second wife, is two very different things. But Sylphie always puts others' happiness before her own, she will agree to it even if it will hurt her in the process. (Also since she saw Paul's way of life firsthand even more than Rudy, she is probably more open to the idea.)
