I haven’t read the comic, but it makes sense that he did that. Views of drug addiction has changed a lot over the decades. People used to really demonize and shun the abusers. They even used incredibly confrontational styles of interventions in rehab until they realized it was not only massively ineffective but emotionally damaging. GA’s reaction was just a reflection of the times.

Have roy be an addict when introduced and have Oliver be a dick to rory about showing an obvious drama between them but have him turn around on it, so he helps roy and roy be a sidekick as a way to help himself and help others

And I love that, because Ollie is one of the least perfect heroes in the DCU. It’s a mistake he still regrets (before Flashpoint). Ollie fucks yo so much, in ways I hate were scrubbed away by the reboot to this day

@@MrEndstageactually I’m pretty sure at the time that was Ollie personality. He wasn’t like Bruce and was meant to kinda be the opposite of him. Nowadays they flipped roles due to frank miller. Honestly I kinda wish frank miller wrote some green arrow storylines cuz would love to see a more brute green arrow

As a reader of the comics, it got really frustrating after the Infinite Frontier miniseries. They set up Roy's return to the forefront as well as his daughter's return to the main continuity after her death and erasure, but then they sidelined his arc for nearly a year, demoting him to an extra in Teen Titans Academy as well as the Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths event. I'm holding out for his reunion with Lian and the return of what him made special before the New 52 turned him into Red Hood's sidekick.

i hate it so much they treat him like hes just a red hood sidekick whne he isnt hes more than that and im sad that wasnt explored in one of the dark crisis tie ins and the main book as a new reader i somehow felt that i lost a whole ton of history with my fav character i hate the new 52 for doing what it did to all the characters

In the comics, Roy got the nickname of “Speedy” the first time he met Oliver, because he spotted some bad guys and ran back to tell Oliver. The rest is history.
