I genuinely hate how DC often treats Roy Harper rather it be cutting off his arm, killing his daughter, lasping back into drugs, making him a gun totting anti hero, and probably the worst killing him in Heroes in Crisis. DC just give this poor guy a break.

I genuinely appreciate when writers and fans like IP treat Roy well. The death of Lian Harper is maybe the most angering thing to me in any DC comic. Both of those characters always deserve better, they’re so great. Young Justice shows why.

Personally I think the whole Artimis/Red Arrow think was the writers intentionally poking fun at a potential ship. Neither Artimis or Will express feelings for each other and they only try to get together because other people keep telling them to.

Speaking as someone whose Dad and Aunt fell in love after a divorce, I appreciate the writers burning a little screen time on this story. The circumstances for a Will/Artemis relationship just aren't right. First of all, Artemis and Will are "good guys" - which means they typically put others ahead of themselves. Probably to an unhealthy degree given that their costumed vigilantes. Second, Artemis is still grieving Wally. Will may be someone she can trust to provide emotional intimacy, but any sexual relationship would only be temporary until Jade sorts herself out or Artemis was ready to start dating again. Which would require a breakup and put Artemis right back where she is now - plus the baggage of having slept with her sister's husband. Third, Will isn't looking to replace Jade. Jade is the one staying away "and focusing on work" because she doesn't believe she'd be a good mother. And Will is respecting that because he's the guy who spent years on his own skipping meals and living in abandonned buildings while he tracked down the orginal Speedy. He understands where Jade is right now. And while Will and Artemis can sort of fill the Jade-shaped hole in their daily lives, neither of them *want* to fill that hole because they love Jade and want to welcome her back into their lives when she's ready. And given that Crusher Crock raised his daughters to fight each other to "toughen them up for the family business" I strongly doubt they could share a four-bedroom house, let alone Will. Nipping all that trailer park drama in the bud by going "nope, no sparks, bad idea" was a welcome development. You have no idea how happy I felt for Liann at the end of that episode.

Completely agree, the "chemistry" was so forced that simply couldnt not be intentional, and the way they quickly caught that they were just trying to "fill" their intimacy necessity and it wasn't going to work, it was clear the creators wanted to do a little trolling, and truth be told... I loved it XD. It was such a cheeky moment, and surprisingly mature, things like that happen, closeness and dependence like they have can create moments like that, and sometimes people act on them... for the embarrassment of some of them. Artemis will find the strength to accept Wally's death and find someone to live life... but it wont be Roy, and Roy is just a man trying his best to keep his love for the woman that gave him the best thing in his life, taking care of this same little treasure and keep helping other. In a way... I can say that the even need this moment, have the little shame that comes with it, a little kick to wave away the doubts and kept going.

@@roaches2o Yeah, seeing the cheerful character I grew up with (right down to getting Greg Cipes to reprise his role for Outsiders and Phantoms) fall into depression, insomnia, and addiction is. . . a lot to take in. It doesn't help that I relate to Beast Boy's struggles because Phantoms premiered in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and I myself developed insomnia about 6-7 months into lockdown and now have to take medication just to help me sleep.

The Red Arrow/Arsenal storyline is what made young justice a bit more complex and 'deep' for me when I was younger, loved it and was kind of let down there isn't a whole lot more of Arsenal in the later seasons. Fantastic video, love these young justice short videos you are doing, really insightful and great to see people still talking about this show!

My favorite part about Will was that his house became the place that people worked on being people rather than heroes. Especially when the hero stuff got suffocating for a lot of them. If you really thing about it. He was born a hero. Not like Superboy, but literally programed to be one. The fact that he can separate the two lives best in impressive while also sad. The whole "raising soldiers" plot idea was pretty ground into the league.

I wouldnt mind this being a permanent part of speedy's story the young justice clone thing would be cool and would always be interesting to watch in other movies and shows it would keep us guessing on whether Roy has been cloned yet the only thing that i would like more is seeing Roy become a big brother to other people within the Arrow family like Nightwing is for the bat family because although hes a clone he still holds values as well as an optimism that makes him the ideal hero for people in complicated positions and a great mentor for those trying to enter the dangerous superhero lifestyle especially without powers. Honestly this is just another character young justice actually added something amazing to and this should be evaluated in future stories. Al lso the contrast between Roy and the original Roy is awesome. P.S great job as always implicitly

I found the development of Will really cool. What bothers me the most about Young Justice is the issue of splitting Roy into two characters. They only gave development to one of them. They took all of Roy's essence from the comics, like Jade, Lian, friends, and put it into Will, leaving Roy as an empty character. He doesn't have relationships with anyone because he was kidnapped early on. No one has emotional attachment to him. Will is more Roy than Roy himself.

I don’t mind the Artemis / Will Harper kiss - and - no relationship scene for two reasons. Artemis is emotionally lost for much of the season still mourning for Wally. I feel like this scene helped build the need for such drastic actions to help her move on later. Secondly, like it or not young justice has always tried to show that the world has more type of people and families than what society deems as traditional. I think they wanted to show for anyone who assumed that by living and raising a child together will and Artemis will have to be a couple……and the answer to that is no. They’re sharing the space and workload to raising a child, but that doesn’t mean they have to be romantic. And this scene makes it clear.

Another great character video. I especially like how you brought up that no one not even the real Roy ever held the fact that he was a clone or mind controlled mole over him, at least not in a negative way using it as more of humor. People loved and respected him, and considering the swap happened during the early days of Speedy that life and relationships that he had were all his. He has a good father and mother figure in Oliver and Dina, He has two sister figures with Artemis and Cissie, Two brothers with the Og Roy and Jim, and lastly he has a great daughter. So sure he for a time lost his sense of identity and purpose but he gained so much more.

Loved how Roy's story went. Didn't mind the brief romance with Artemis, felt pretty realistic honestly. But to me his story really concludes with the Security team episode, showing how he's found his place finally. Still one of my favorite episodes: "To the SUV!" I will admit though, a sick part of me was dying for them to reveal that he was on Heroin in season 2, purely for how insane that plot point has always been to me. But probably for the best it was excised.

To be fair real Roy even being on ice for years came out of the whole plot line better than before. I mean he now has two brothers in the form of clones of himself and one of them ran himself ragged to save him the moment he found out he was a clone. In terms of the cliche of Superheroes and Cloning plots tend go.

I think the cloning aspect of the story comes from Jim Harper aka the Guardian and Cadmus. I would like to see something done similar in the comics although it would be a bit different in comparison since Roy was never cloned in comic continuity but it feels like it should be part of the Harper lore.

Is me or did they write OG Roy in season 2 as though he was 18 instead of his actual physical and mental age which was 15?.........I mean he was frozen in stasis since 2008 but Ollie had only started training him in 2007(check the wiki for reference). How did he fight Luthor like that with little training, why didn't they show us freak out/have a mental break down the way one would imagine a 15year old would after hearing that he got his arm cut off, cloned and frozen for 8 years. His reaction and decision making throughout the season, though not rational, seemed very adult and logical. And yeah, shame, Robin and Kaldur were very young when they made the team and they acted really adult but......Robin was training and going on active duty since he was 9 and Kaldur was in military school and practically responsible for everything in his life since he was a child. From all we know, Roy trained with Ollie for a couple of months and that was that. Arsenal's story in Season 2 makes him come across more as an adult than a 15 year old kid who got his life taken from him to me. I just want to know if I'm the only one who thinks that way🤷
