One of the main reasons i fw this channel is the versatility of it's content. These are golden, keep up the great work, Don!

Loved Roy Hibbert. Him & Joakim had that center game on lock for a good 3-4 years as top 5 centers. Roy seems like a great guy. Love his character and energy! Appreciate ya Dom for this gem!

The way things panned out makes me wonder if we were underrating Al Horford at the time. He's the same age as Noah so they were in their primes together, and maybe when that Hawks team won so many games we were all just giving Budenholzer the credit we should have been giving Al
@MuakoriАй бұрын
@@ogbmt Al was definitely a great center then. Definitely top 5 in the league. I do remember him during the early 2010s missing about 2 seasons because of injuries so I think that’s why he tends to go unnoticed. However during the 2014-2015 he had a career resurrection. Great timing considering that the ‘15 season would be downfall years of Noah & Hibbert and pretty much never recovered due to changing of the game.
@ogbmtАй бұрын
@@Muakori Yeah that all sounds about right to me. I think also that in that era he might have been overlooked due to his relative lack of rebounds. In each of his first 4 seaons he averaged between 9 and 10 rpg, then only played 11 games in his 5th season like you mentioned. Coming back from injury in his 6th season he averaged 10.2 rpg, then 8.4 in his 7th season (which was 13/14). After that the most he ever averaged in a season was 7.7rpg in 21/22. Obviously these aren't terrible rebounding seasons at all, and the big drop off was partly because he started playing as a stretch big. Specifically in the first part of his career though, I think rebounding was still seen as a core part of what people felt that a center had to do in the NBA, and being under double figures surely wouldn't have helped with how people evaluated him.
@MuakoriАй бұрын
@@ogbmt Al had transcendent game. He could thrive in any area of almost basketball due to his versatility. He thrived in the post 3 point era (2008-2014) then thrived during the 3 point era (2015- current) Says a lot about his game. His ability to dominate in the post, rebound and has always been a solid / quality big men defender his entire career translates well. If the game never changed, Al could still give a healthy 9-10+ boards a night. Like you said, changing of the game had him rely on more perimeter focus and outside play and he adapted and formed well into this era. Any basketball enthusiast knows that Al should probably make the HOF eventually one day. For his collegiate and professional career. Every team he’s played for, he’s been a major difference maker, always make the right plays, just seems to proficient in everything he does.
@Yaredzbest2412 күн бұрын
I mean Al changed with the game and shoots the 3, most times he’s out in the corner, and if he’s inside for a board, there’s many 3s being shot today, many long boards, so in turn his rebounds decrease, especially with him shooting the 3. But man, Al has aged like fine wine. Lakers all day but I’m happy he got a ring 👍🏾

A guy that im really interested to hear from that I think could provide stories that people dont think about is Wilson Chandler. Was a part of the Melo deal that sent him to NYK had some of his best years in Denver, the Iggy-Coach Karl situation that happened in the first round where Coach Karl went on to accuse Iggy of being a double agent essentially to the warriors after he left Denver and he was also around for early Jokic and stuff for that conversation.

I know it's kind of out there, but Kyle Korver. Got to play with Lebron, D Rose, AI, that Hawks team with 4 or 5 all-stars. I think that would be cool too considering his role kept amplifying because 3's kept becoming more and more important as his career went on and would love to hear his input on all of that

I remember watching that lbj lay up game winner live with my pops. When it happened I said “why was pg guarding lbj so aggressively? He let himself get blown by!” My dad immediately responded “you’re right, but Hibbert should be in the game. Roy at the very least is going to try to protect the rim.”…in that moment, I realized I was just a casual lol.
