Kamelot really had the best of Roy. One Cold Winter Night is beyond our world. I'm sure I'll never hear anything so magical again. Sad to think about it. But I really glad that Roy is back, it seems he's doing what he wants to.

Roy is the absolute master of emotion and magic and there are just few vocalist that can deliver the same.I am a huge Kamelot and Conception fan but my humble opinion is that his voice was on the top around 2005-2006. He is just amazing and I knew that he would return on the scene but his years with Kamelot were just pure magic. No one could ever do it like him and Kamelot is not Kamelot without Roy!🤘❤🤘
@Oleksa-Derevianchenko5 жыл бұрын
I recently discovered a singer who could deliver just as well. Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche). Just listen to their album "Operation:Mincrime". It rocked all over the world and surely influenced Conception as well. By the way, I learned about Queensrÿche from a review, where Kamelot's "Karma" (which was being reviewed) was compared to "Operation: Mindcrime" and proclaimed an eternal, legendary album.
@ewoxmaiden16115 жыл бұрын
@@Oleksa-Derevianchenko I can say that Geoff is great and deffo Operation Mindcrime is a masterpiece.Again,what Roy did with Kamelot from 98.-2011...was just...pure magic and now it's a history.Cool fact is that Kamelot's ex drummer Casey,who was wotj the band for over 20 years is now touring with Queensrýche! my top 3 prog metal singers are Geoff Tate, Roy Khan and Michael Eriksen, but the last lacks of consistent composing skills but has a very good voice, in a healthy way to recover high notes. now i have an bass baritone voice F1-A4(G5) i ve never sang. only i trained after hearing Queensryche and never tried. into the low notes Sir Christopher Lee was an useful influence.

I recently learned that early Kamelot has quite a lot of fan recordings. So I checked them out to enjoy and try to learn if my singing their early songs is comparable to the live version... Well, with totally predictable results. "Night of Arabia" is not from this world... It was fun to know that they played Conception's "Hand on heart" at least once live.

I like the clips from the One cold winters night performance. With each clip you chose we see a bit of difference. High main voice, a mid or even a low main voice depending on the song. He didn't just play songs, he was playing characters. Always attentive to the life of the songs. He would often choose character over total perfection in singing technique. But that isn't a bad thing. He's a performer. Hunter's Season would have been a good addition to this list though. That one is a solid demonstration of him settling into his lower comfort range as he got older.
