@elite_m975 жыл бұрын
There was a better replacement. I'm sorry, I think you meant to say Vasilis Georgiou there. Too bad he sounded very much like Khan to actually make it. But given how Kamelot has been getting worse and worse since Khan left I'm glad it never happened. Karevik may try to sound like him but can't even come close. Still a Tommy fanboy? Listen to Forever ''2013 edition'' live.
@a.m.74385 жыл бұрын
I like Karevik a lot but find the albums with Karevik to by lyrically incomprehensible. The writing has gotten really strange. Even the metaphors are difficult to digest as sensible. I know it sounds harsh but really read some of the lyrics. Especially in Shadow Theory. Several of the tracks aren't even logical even for poetry. This isn't the case for all the new songs. But it is much more noticeable now.
@annapassero-koennecke67105 жыл бұрын
Roy's ability to add a sense of complex character to his singing voice is what really allowed Kamelot to do these multi-part songs and two part concept albums and have them come off as masterful pieces of storytelling instead of feeling overdone or even cringy. The way you can hear the character development in not just the lyrics but also his voice is incredibly rare.

Yes! He feels younger and more esuberant in Epica, somber and more desperate in The Black Halo, matching the slower tempo and dramatic songwriting. All very tasteful and masterfully mixed and produced. Both records are among the finest in the genre imho.

Great reaction as always, thanks for doing these :) Time for some trivia! - The song is about Elizabeth Bathory, "the Blood Countess", who was obsessed with eternal life and tried to achieve it by bathing in the blood of virgins. That's why the female singer does the little performance with the mirror during the first part. - The awesome keyboardist (Oliver Palotai) is married to Simone Simons, the singer of Epica (which you already reacted to) - Actually, Epica is named after one of Kamelot's albums. Metal is just a big family after all :D

The song is a story about the life of Elizabeth Báthory, Hungarian form; Báthory Erzsébet, (born August 7, 1560, Nyírbátor, Hungary-died August 21, 1614). The evil that Kahn spoke about was that she was rumored to have murdered hundreds of young servant girls to bathe in their blood to regain/keep her beauty. Her exploits have become part of the Dracula/vampire myths, the seductive and immortal parts. I must admit that I think that Roy Kahn is a rare and awesome singer. His voice introduced me to the Symphonic Metal that is blossoming around the world.

When ripping CD's with dBpoweranp this is part of its metadata, so you can have your music player basically lower the volume of louder stuff so Everything's at the same volume. Then you listen to KZbin and it's super loud cause Replay Gain.

Tommy is such a monster of a vocalist, as opposed to most of kamelot fans i actually prefer him to Roy, not saying that he's bad cause his very good ( in a different way) but what tommy has done in the last two albums and specially in Seventh wonder is just amazing, few vocalists have impressed me as much.

Roy Khan is a GOD! I adore his vocals - he is in a "new" band now called Conception - you should check those out, also. I say "new" because he was with them before he joined Kamelot, he then left Kamelot took a break from music and then went back to Conception. I'm so, so happy he is back in the music scene, I have missed that wonderful voice of his.

He was in Conception before he was in Kamelot. They went on a hiatus while Khan was in Kamelot. Then they revamped years later. So in a sense, they aren't "new" per se. They have a new vibe in comparison to their older material though.

@@randomninja83 that is correct this is Roy's old prog metal band ..they formed in the late 80's.plenty of stuff on youtube of live performances from the early 1990's and full album tracks.he was in his ultimate form back then

This whole concert was just out of this world, and is easily the best performance I have ever heard!!! Only thing negative is that it could have been a much bigger venue! Roy Khan, you are in my heart forever!!!!!!!

Roy is definitely one of the best .. That you mentioned "theatrical" and two voices in one .. Check out Impellitteri doing "Phantom of the Opera."

Poor Beth, if she heard me singing along in concerts, she'd cry in dispair! I have a very nice tone and range, but I can't breathe so... Dispair!
