Roy had about a 5 octave range. First saw him on Ed Sullivan singing Pretty Woman in 1964. When he did Black & White Night in 1987 a whole new generation got to see him. Sadly, he passed away not long after that. Great singer and a good man.

He not only wrote his music, performed his music, but he lived and experienced his songs. So much beauty but so much heartache. He's a national treasure.

I'm so glad I got to see Roy perform in a wonderful large club in San Francisco in 1983. He always sounded so perfect.

Surely one of the greatest voices ever to be heard on this earth, The BIG O as he was known was not only a fantastic singer he was one of Gods gentlemen. Simply wonderful too hear this again TY for reacting to him again. I would suggest and recommend you watch "A BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT" sadly Roy's final DVD with a cast of backing musicians that rank as the greatest ever collected on stage with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, KD Lang, Elvis Costello and many many more. I think it really showcases this wonderful man so well as he does all his big hits. Ty for your efforts as always it is a pleasure to enjoy your honest reactions. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🎶🎶🎶

Most pop artists, it’s easy to spot where they come in and their mark in musical history. Roy Orbison is the definition of unique. Nobody was doing that kind of music when he arrived on the scene and nobody has done it since.

roy has one of the most amazing voices ever. he could have been an opera singer i swear. btw, my dad told me something. most people seem to think he is blind and why he wears dark glasses. actaully he used to not wear those very early on but one time at a perfromance early in his career, he forgot his regular glasses and wore these dark ones, every one liked the look so he just did that from then on

The movie was called "Fastest Guitar Alive". I think it was his only movie. He signed with MGM from Monument Records because he wanted to be involved in movies just like Elvis Presley was. MGM didn't promote Roy and even though Roy recorded many songs with MGM they didn't get much air play. Because of this his star faded as a new generation of young music lovers found a new style of music. A couple of big hit Hollywood movies - Blue Velvet and Pretty Woman featured his songs and he was 're-discovered' so to speak. His star began to shine again when he formed a group called The Travelling Wilburys with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan around 1986/7. Sadly Roy died in December 1986 from a heart attack aged 52 just as his music was becoming popular again. Roy was/is my favourite singer. in 1961 when I was sixteen and had just started work I heard his song Running Scared on the radio. I knew nothing about him (being in Australia) but I just had to save up and buy that record. I bought it in April 1961 and it still captivates me today. I have chosen his song 'Life Fades Away' to accompany me as I exit this world.
