I have watched the presentation of the Medal Of Honor to MSG Benavidez at least 10 times. He was a true Hero! I have younger children and each Memorial Day and Veteran's Day we take time to learn about America's Best; your Dad was certainly the Best of the Best! May God bless you this Memorial Day weekend.

after kinda randomly finding the videos about your dad , i watched them in jaw dropped amazement . this man was everything every soldier strives to be . A warrior dedicated to his comrads , his country and his service . he was a true man among men . his humble speech left me misty eyed , i thank God there are men like him , and my own father who did several tours in vietnam , who answer the call when needed and despite overwhelming odds , persevere and overcome. God bless your family and your Dad. so glad his beret was returned to its rightful place .

I joined the army in 2006 right after high school. Besides the events on 9/11 the story of Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez time in the service greatly influenced my decision to enlist. What he did in Vietnam and the events leading to it will never leave my memory.

What a wonderful story! I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting your dad in 1985 when I was a young officer candidate at New Mexico Military Institute. His visit and story inspired the whole Corps of cadets and it still affects me to this day. Years later when his GI Joe doll was released I bought one for my son. I also bought another for myself because I couldn’t bring myself to share one lol. It’s still on display in my office. I must tell you all my children know the story of Tango Mike Mike and I think of him often to put things in perspective when I think I’m having a bad day. Que Dios los bendiga.

Through my time in the army so far, it was such a privilege to learn about him, and even more to know who he was, and that a park, here in my town was named after him. He is the prime example of what we can achieve everyday.

@@RoyPBenavidezTangoMikeMike I wish I could show you, the inspiration and motivation, your father provides for me everyday. When I feel times become rough, and that there is no end in sight; especially during extended training events. I re-read the words your father spoke, and everything falls back into place, to accomplish the mission.

I recently came across your dad’s story on KZbin. I have listened to it 3 times and have listened to so many other accounts of your dad’s heroic story. It is so reaching for words amazing that it almost doesn’t seem real and I know it is. I wish I could have met your dad just to shake his hand and say thank you . I have never in my life heard of such a heroic act in all my life not taking away from the many other hero’s but what your dad endured before and that day. I for the life of me cannot believe that a movie was never made. I’m so glad that gentleman found you to return the green beret. I am going to buy the book that was written about your dad. Thank you for sharing just another story about this amazing man!!

Never had the pleasure of meeting your Dad while on active duty. I only heard about him. What I heard sounded more like a super hero than a man. Just goes to show that your only as good as you try to be and your Dad... Was the best.

What a beautiful story a/b the beret, and cool move by MSG Benavidez! That beret is finally home. I can assure you, and I'm sure you already know, your father will NEVER, EVER be forgotten. Many a SF recruit at Ft. Bragg has yelled out - TANGO MIKE MIKE - in order to summon your Dad's legendary strength and courage when needed to overcome an obstacle. I also have my father's St. Micheal medallion he wore in Vietnam! I can still remember my Dad telling me a/b your Dad when I was a kid. If they made a movie a/b your Dad, no one would believe it. The absolute epitome of a true American hero. Godspeed to you, and your family. De Oppresso Liber!!!

Your Father's story is amazing to say the least. His photo is in prominent place inside my office space. I first heard his MOH citation in 1980 while standing in fomation. At the end, all I wanted to know, did this man live! My thought was this man is amazing. Bravery above and beyond the call of duty. God blessed Master Sargent Roy P Benevidez. A Man, that all Men should emulate.

I met your dad in Panama while I was recuperating from a collapsed lung at Gorgus Army medical center in 1988. He was in country visiting troops and was participating in the 4th. Of July parade and was honored in being the grand marshal of the parade. He came by the hospital couple of days before the 4th. visited with us patients. I got to talk with him a bit and got a pic taken together with him and he gave a signed card identifying him as a MOH recipient . What great moment in my life and a great man. God bless you ma'am.
