Nice! Royal is my favorite vacuum brand, particularly among vintage machines. I'm fortunate enough to have TWO 888's in my collection, along with one of the portable conversion kits you mentioned. For several years I've been on the hunt for the attachment adapter which connects the hose to the front of the machine when the nozzle is removed; so far no luck, haha.

I love the color of these vacuums, I have an 880 and an Everlast 8100 and I love both of them, but I do love the 880 even more since it reminds me of the one my grandparents used to have.

That royal 880 looks just like mine I’d love a 888 though I’ve never seen one either. Wow man how many machines does your store throw out? I sure hope you take what you can!

Metal Royal upright and Powertank canisters,, metal Elevtroluxs and Kirbys should always rebuilt or deconstructed so that people like you can fix them for your collections, sold or donated to Goodwill or Habitat so that they can live on durably for people who could use a real break in not needing to replace them when they can't afford them. It really bothers me that so many vacs don't clean well and require a person who can't afford better needs to replace what they can't afford to begin with so frequently.

In one of your future videos, I am wondering if you could give the spotlight on a straight-suction Royal metal upright? Although the final household version, the Electro-Hygiene 2-230 (which was a descendant of the older models 80, 94 and 230), ended production in 1955 in favor of the model 285 with the revolving brush, in the commercial market the model 311 (which replaced the 130 after 1945) had _quite_ a long run, up to 1987.

Good job! These removable head examples were produced from 1969 to 1987. I know, Kenny Heon has another 888 that was built October 1985, and that one of course has the 5.4 amp motor. I even saw two Electro-Hygiene model 2001 (a special "50th Anniversary" model first introduced in 1984 to commemorate the, yes, 50th anniversary of the founding of the brand) cleaners, both with these removable heads... one was dated December 1986 and another was dated May 1987. I also know what you're saying about the Adjust-O-Rite plates being non-removable on these examples... not to be tampered with unless they are to be replaced. Royal also made a version of this removable head, without the Adjust-O-Rite button on the belt lifter, for the polishing brush roll.

Do royals lose cfm over time, or they stay pretty static in that area?
@PerformanceReviews5 жыл бұрын
Good question It's an antique vacuum not going to test it . I would imagine it stays pretty consistent ,like all direct air machines
