He actually divides the signal of the bass, one has an octavor and a fuzz pedal, and the other one is just the bass, each one goes to its reletive amp, super original!!

Lauren nah, bro. He uses fender guitar amps, and bass amps. And there is always an octave generator on.

He has 5 amps live on stage. His secret is that he actually splits his guitar lines more than we think. One is his fender bassman clean tone. The other smaller bass amp has a slight distortion to it. Using two POG octave pedals... One has a distorted guitar tone while The other fender supersonic amp has more of a fuzz tone setting to it. All that together gives him his signature tone. The tube combo guitar amps do not require any pedals to get there respected distorted tones. Great amps

I have the smaller version of his rig... Using a fender supersonic amp and a fender rumble 500 in bass. The fuzz tone is a built in distortion effect. I use 4 guitar pedals. 1 which is the POG octave pedal. A noise suppressor (this also lets me turn the guitar line off and on) and a chromatic tuner pedal (to turn the bass off and on) and a pitch shifter pedal (He uses 2 of these) Hell...I even have the $300 gretsch bass 😜

But there is a lot more, they have nice lyrics, and they are catchy.I'm into a lot of stoner rock and heavy psych, so i usually do not listen to other generes of music, but, hey, if band like these are going to mtv, maybe i should turn it on sometimes... (however, never talked about copying bands, only copying the "method": bass amp splitted signal into two amps)

+Tobias TK As a fan of both bands (DFA > Royal Blood imo) they aren't that similar. It's like comparing DFA to Lightning Bolt. DFA ranges between noise punk and dance punk, bass tone comes from the amps (and still sounds like a bass). Royal Blood is straightforward, no nonsense, catchy, radio-friendly hard rock that brings back nostalgia of the old days of hard rock and hope for the future of hard rock, and in terms of bass tone, Mike got his tone from his pedalboard more than amps.

i like royal blood, i just disagree with people calling every type of music with loud distorted stringed instruments rocknroll; rocknroll is expression in musical, sexual, conceptual, physical and spiritual terms; and even if they can fit this definition to some degree it doesn't resemble presley or jagger or morrison or brown or plant or the intensity they brought to music. i love royal blood but i hear no blues in the music, no desperation, no pain, no real sexual honesties, no frantic improvisations. rocknroll in this generation lacks these ideas that came from the blues that made rocknroll into what it was.
