Please help!! I had this tree right next to my house-over 30ft tall. I knew nothing about this the other than I wanted it down so I cut it down 2 years ago. Suckers kept popping up as far as 20ft from stump, and under my deck. I did crawl under and sever part of the root and now suckers are growing on both sides. Do you just keep spraying with round-up until they eventually stop sprouting? Should I stump grind the remaining stump? Looks like there were 2-3 planted on too of each other so I have multiple stumps right next to each other
@HeirloomReviews3 жыл бұрын
just keep pulling the suckers dont let them gain any momentum or it will come back but the root system will die eventually. try a stump killer
@paullangford81795 жыл бұрын
If the tree was all branches, that means you weren't trimming off the bottom branches as it grew. Basically, while it's growing, clip off all the branches below 70 % of the height. That way, yiou can get clean, knot-free planks out of it, with parallel grain.

Paul, I live in Alabama. A registered forrester told me no one has been able to make it work here. I have a pine plantation and am looking for a tree to plant in the low lands. Many acres of wet land year round. What do you think? Will it sap up the excess water out of the mud?
@helenjohnson75834 жыл бұрын
@@tmo4330 You will never be able to control it. It spreads from the roots like an acacia. It is a weed.

We had three of these trees. My husband cut down the last one in December 2019. The tree was here when we bought our house 22 years ago. My husband has since passed away. I am having to deal the the suckers daily. I cut them and then I spray RoundUp where I dig them up. Any suggestions on how to stop the suckers? We were going have someone come out and grind the stumps down before the COVID lockdown. I am finding at least 6 or 7 suckers daily.

the suckers will not go away for many years! several people suggested to me to drill holes in the main stump and fill it with salt. i havent tried it my self but i do plan on it this year! hope that helps : )

It's like cedar compared to how light and easy to work with. I stumble across it after I cut it down. Easy to mill on the sawmill. I'm not sure how strong the lumber is but it's interesting wood.
@BushImports3 жыл бұрын
Is it as light as balsa? It is supposed to have some very desirable properties. I wonder if it would grow roots just from a cutting . Thanks for showing that to us.

That is a very soft hardwood. I could imagime that it would be great for making surboards. Unfortunately this tree is also invasive like the tree of heaven or ghetto palm (Ailanthus altissima) so I would not want to plant it outside of its native range.

The Paulownia tomentosa is extremely invasive. The Paulownia Elongata is non invasive and does not produce seeds.

A horrible tree for a yard. Mine got very big and mad a mess year round. I had mine cut down last year and now I have to get the stump ground out because it is sending up new shoots, (trees), all over. I’m worried it will be a problem in this yard forever! My advice, DO NOT PLANT this tree.

BBQNBLUES , Lumber wise the demands are quite high for skateboarding and surf boarding companies and also for musical instruments such as violins and guitars manufacturing companies. Each one of these trees fully matured costs from $3000-$8000 .
