This might be a stupid question. But why does a rack, solidly constructed and which uses the same attachment points as the passenger seat (whose weight can vary between 35 and 100 kilos (or even more)), can only support around ten or twenty kilos? ? I must admit that I don't understand this difference.

I bought pannier rails from Hitchcock's for my Scram as RE don't offer them and I need panniers on my bikes (my only transport). Excellent service, quality product and easy to install.

Bought a rack like this out of India a good 6 or 8 months ago. Wasn't expensive, but don't remember what was paid. Got a waterproof bag and bungee net to hold down those odd shaped items from the grocery that don't fit in the hard panniers. Together a useful system.

I got a new top rack for my little Classic 350 after market however, you will need to get a new rear seat bolt because as you will find out the original seat bolt will be too short. I don't know about the Hitchcock's model. I put one of my off-road 80L Top Box and it works really well. So I now have a top case I can lock and a good run around bike to hop to the stores and with the price of petrol going up I now have a 80 MPG rather than using my Harley to do the same thing but at 43 MPG.

I’ve been hoping you’d get this rack… i bought one from an indian eBay seller and it was absolute garbage, nothing fitted and it ended up in the skip!… currently have the Hitchcocks version in my shopping basket, just waiting to save up to buy it. 👍

If the "Pillion Pad" seat can hold a person then why cant the rack??? It has always puzzeled me how little the reccomended weight for any rack is.I understand the leverage on some designs may be restrictive and few people want to carry a bag of cement(about 25kg) but 5 or 10 kilos always seemed low to me.

Its Mr T very nice and eloquent video the bike looks superb I still would like a back seat in me younger days we all had back seats never knew when would come in handy any way back seat front seat was the one seat in 60s 70s what u think of the new 350 bullet very ice indeed pity not a 500 the seat a all in one makes it grander

should I acquire a used 500 or do I get the new 350? The chrome looks good on the 500 and the fenders match, the red and chrome 350 , meh, but the green with copper looks really good and the details are of a better detail.

Very nice lines and style on this bike. I much prefer lines like this that follow the curves and length of the bike. Not keen on a current fashion that has lines or two colours that run across the tank and seem to cut the bike in two halves.

Would have been nicer if the rack would be horizontal. Looks a bit tilted to the front end of the bike. Looks better on the 500. At least it lines up with the pannier rack which also seems to have the same amount of tilt.

@@hardburke4910 Its lined up with the pannier rails which is the most important thing and dont forget that the back end of the bike is raised as it is on the centre stand. The old model didnt sit as high.

Not keen on the jaunty angle of both the new pillion rack and indeed the pannier racks on the 350. I assume it not an optical delusion created by centre stand tilt but they both look better on the 500. Just one of those niggles that would fester with me I’m afraid - who knows, as the pillion rack is pre-production, maybe Hitchcocks are reading these comments…
