Love the RE! Great sound! My Grandma used to work at the RE factory in Redditch. I'm told she won an award for being one of the longest employed people there. I notice you've got the 2013 Scrambler...same colour as my 2013 Steve McQueen Bonne! And you are wearing my Raven jacket! Mike in Vancouver Canada.

Hey Mike - small world! Sold the RE now, but working on another one. When they moved the RE factory overseas, they created some interesting interpretations of manufacturing tollerances but i guess thats part of the RE charm! The Scrambler is a keeper - ive added plenty of bits since the video and planning on uploading soon. Ride safe. Tim

Hi Martin, exhaust was a new header and standard open megaphone with baffle removed - all from Hitchcock's in the UK (pretty much everything came from them) The efi compensated for the reduced back pressure quite well so no backfires. Main mods were 6 inches added to the swing arm, single seat and lots of polishing! Wheels were respoked in stainless and the rims/hubs powder coated. Engine was pretty standard bar competition valves. First project I did and I've sold her know but plan to do another this year. Thanks for the positive comments :) Tim

Hi Tim, I have an RE Bullet 500 and love the look of your mods. I really want to install a similar headlight as well because I don't like how the stock one is incorporated into the triple tree. How did you go about elongating your swingarm? Did you bring it to a local welder and had him weld in some slugs to extend it?
@timball748 жыл бұрын
+Alexandre Radburn Hi Alexandre, I had a local engineering firm (Goddon Engineering) extend the swingarm by welding two steel lugs to the existing. I used Goddon because they have experience and I wanted to retain the structural integrity and keep the wheel alignment tolerances spot on.

Gorgeous!!!! Just a little question buddy, how much roughly did it cost you to make it look like this. I am thinking of buying a bullet 500?
@timball747 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate - cost including purchase of bike was around £3,500 but this was my first project and I went a bit over the top on new parts, rather than refurbishing. Most of the cost went on stretching the swing arm (£200) and refurbishing the wheels - stainless pokes, powder coating and tyres (£450)
@lionelpereira46457 жыл бұрын
Very well built, looks awesome. I have 1 too, could I plz know what changes u'v done on your swingarm and your chain kit? does it handle the same after the mods?
@timball747 жыл бұрын
Lionel Pereira Thanks Lionel. Swing arm was cut and 6 inches added. Chain was lengthened by 1 1/2 links (you need to buy a half link - used on most old British biked) Handling was fine - bit like a Harley.
@lionelpereira46457 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tim Ball, my bike will soon undergo a change and will surely keep you posted. should try the swingarm mod as you guided. thanks, cheers.
@timball747 жыл бұрын
Lionel Pereira Cool - don't forget to buy a longer shock when you lengthen the swingarm I used a 365mm one to keep the ride height good and avoid the swingarm touching the frame when compressed.
@lionelpereira46457 жыл бұрын
Oh ya, thanks for that. I will definitely do that.
@malcolmcartlidge37438 жыл бұрын
Tim, you enlongated the swingarm, were you able to keep same shocks (thus lowering the back end)? If not can you let me know what you used. I've just gone up from a 17t gbox sprocket to an 18t -feels better than the 17 original and gives 8k better cruising speed no noticeable change in torque, am told a 19t would also work (20t needs grinding case to fit), any advice?.
@timball748 жыл бұрын
+Malcolm Cartlidge Hi Malcolm, I had to increase the length of the shocks because the standard ones were too low with the elongation of the swing arm - it fouled the frame when sat on it so I needed 365mm shocks to compensate. (tec bike parts in the UK - absolute bargain) On the gearbox sprocket, I personally wouldn't go above 18t - I've heard of 19's and 20's but when all said and done, it's still a 500 single built for slow cruise thumping not top speed.

Tim Ball but is it steel, the stock swingarm? pardon my ignorance!

Yes it is - I used a firm in the UK called Godden Engineering to do it for me. You will need longer shocks if you lengthen - increase to 365mm to compensate
