Royal Enfield Classic 350 Touring Review | Astral Ride | Is it as good as a RE Himalayan in Ladakh?

When the good folks at Royal Enfield invited us for the 2021 Astral Ride, we sent ZigWheels' main man Kartikeya Singhee to brush up on not just his rough road riding skills, but also to pick up a new talent for astral photography. While the Royal Enfield Himalayan would have been the first choice for a Ladakh trip, we wanted to mix things up a bit and chose the new Royal Enfield Classic 350 instead to see for ourselves how this new motorcycle handled a proper touring assignment. It was going to be an interesting trip indeed and both man and machine were put through their own tests. Dude less kept, Thank God there are roads now, Like 6 years ago there were no roads there😂. The roads over there now are not less kept they are just under construction phase by phase😂 I am apolitical but the new government has been doing good since 2014 (not all good as is in the nature).

Lets be honest, Classic 350 has been all over India since the 1950s, but, the fact nothing broke and no oil leaks is a testament to the new engineering, and it looks fantastic. Nice vid, thanks for sharing.

I did Delhi-Pune on the new Classic in two days, with 50 kgs of luggage and a crash in between. It could do 90-100 ALL DAY and held up like a tank! Incredible job by RE

My father bought one and its surprisingly good. The exhaust sound in this new version is excellent from the stock. There are pops from the exhaust at times when you make a perfect gear shift and it makes you smile a lot

Nice to see your comment fellow biker. Never knew that interest in RE is growing in Europe! Anyways, Classic 350(Bullet) has a huge cult for what seems like a century in India. I don't know how they would launch it in other places coz it has a waiting list for many months already here. Don't know if many Europeans would even be interested in it but RE classic 350 is an emotion. It's simple, it's heavy, it's steady, it's slow, it's torqy and it's tough. Not 'Retro', it's how it's always been, with modern regulations and necessary upgrades. Have a nice day!

WELL! I have never been to India. The roads in the “middle of nowhere” are paved better than many roads in America. The mountain switchbacks in the dirt and rocks are another matter. You are a very good and BRAVE rider to run that hard with no guard rails. I love the 350 and I intend to buy one this year. Congratulations on a wonderful video. Beautiful and educational!

Fantastic report and video👍. As an Interceptor owner, it’s always good to get insight into RE’s other model. Best of all though, is understanding Indian biking culture, seeing the phenomenal landscape, and concluding that you and your countrymen are just as crazy about bikes as I am , even though we are separated by 6000 miles!

I always hated Royal Enfield but when I bought Continental GT 650 I saw the shift from past to future, don't get me wrong I still hated RE even after I bought GT 650 for its idiotic 350 cc engine. But then the new 350s restored my faith As it's the same engine at 650 but with one less cylinder, And boy oh boy would an engine this is I rode on my friend's 350 the newer one and it's absolutely a better bike as whole package than any bike out there in its category. Yes honda cb 350 i am looking at you(Jawa 300 with Mahindra engine are in a different league so I'm not going to compare them). Honda did a great job but RE did better.

where i am now, we frequently use bikes with engines around 100cc, to go off road carrying a sack of hog field through miles of wet dirt tracks. The advantage choosing a smaller bike is picking it up when you are alone. The frame joining positions on the back of the frame will need reinforcing if you are going to fully laden the bike and go off road. These are excellent bikes paint work and corrosion resistant. No they are not super fast but they are quick enough.

This is the best video I've seen in this week, month, year. Just so fascinating, both the bike and the end. We are tiny beings in this Universe, the place reminded us of the same. But our hunger to discover and conquer such landscapes are and will never be tiny. And we have perfect companions for that, our will to go on and our motorcycles. Your work is Outstanding, and I can see the passion in every video you make. The whole video is to the point. Royal Enfield 350 Classic is actually made for Military purposes in the second world war. Classic Never go out of fashion, Made to fit in all conditions. Made like a Gun as it say. I have it from 2017 till now I haven't had any issues with bike nor any repairs just using stock. This is inspiring, and is really encouraging. I was looking for a motorcycle with classic styling that could handle the occasional adventurous offroad conditions, while having confidence and solid safety features like ABS, all around the Classic 350 looks to be EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Lovely video! This is nice as it does to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 what I will never do with mine! I live in California, and my bike won't see the likes of those dirt/rocky roads, but sure is nice to know it can handle it! Of course the scenery is fantastic, and I enjoy your delivery. I'm 61 and have had my Royal Enfield Classic 350 for 6 months now, and I love it! At 6'-4", I find it incredibly comfortable as well. There's nothing bad I can say about it - get one! Ride Safe 🙏🏼

Hi from germany ;) I love my himalayan and daydream of a classic350 Most of the Time. In comparisson to our modern Western bikes a royal enfield is like grandfather, teaching children whats Important … And they are Built bulletproof Like Tanks 🥰
