If you have been floored with a 500 Classic that is powered by an aluminum-alloy 4 stroke engine casing and cylinders sparked by a 24V Mikuni Japanese carburetor and enamored by its torque, you can imagine the feeling of the rides on the 1950 - 1980 Electra and Regent 350 12V Lucas carburetor sparked cast iron cased engines and their mighty thuds exploding from the exhausts with water trickling down and the thud thud thud booms resonating miles away! My father while serving the Indian Army at Jammu in 1970's as an Inspector in the Military Police, used to ride one of such armed forces issues, covered end to end in dark green paint and regimental stripes. Riding from his base camp to our cantonment home up and down the mountain slopes on rough terrain and treacherous roads. It was an easy ride for two hours at 60KMPH speed and never tiring for him in both hot summers and chilly winters. The Army let him keep his British Webley & Scott service revolver and that Bullet that he used to ride after his retirement and he rode it till his very old age and never sold it. It still lies as an heritage at our village home, cleaned oiled and polished and occasionally ridden.

I agree, Shyamal, except for the "mighty thuds exploding" and "enamored by its torque" parts. If I saw your father coming, I would surely run and hide; if a Bullet he was riding with a Webley on his side.

So glad you were able to get one. I'm in NY, USA and found a 2018 classic 500 in chrome (just like yours) last year with under 800miles. I'm never selling it. Already gotten so many compliments. For a petite female it's really the best bike. I'll never need anything bigger or faster or any more bells/whistles. I love the bare bones. Mine came with the buddy seat which makes it look a bit bigger. I use it for cargo and net it to the seat. Have fun riding!

I bought one here in the United States as my first bike, and I can absolutely say that I love it. It is extremely unique and is exactly what I was looking for in a bike; a machine! It is not just a round, boring Harley Davidson, but a beautiful machine. People always come up to talk to me about it. I did not know however that it was the almost completely original design until thankfully I watched you video. Great videos by the way, it is nice to finally see videos about the Royal Enfield Classic from someone in the UK. I have had a very hard time understanding the videos from India. Very much appreciated, friend.

I agree Stu I love my 2019 classic chrome, it is no rocket, but I don't want one anymore, all I want is a great sounding great looking simple bike that is easy to maneuver and will sit comfortably on the a and b roads where I can enjoy the journey and the country that we live in. I don't want to come home from a ride with only memories of tarmac !! One minor point is that you go for a short ride expecting to get back soon only to find that you are delayed by someone asking about the bike I was pulled over by the police recently to check it was an essential journey, it was, but I suspect from the questions asked by them they were more interested in looking at the bike!

I am so proud of my Bullet. Stuart 'persuaded ' me to buy one last year, and I am besotted with her. Thank God I did and thank God for Stuart, bringing sanity and plain speaking to us in this terrible time, and to an industry more full of bull&*^% as every day goes by. Royal Enfield is going from strength to strength, even in this awful time. There are no other motorcycle manufacturers that can honestly say that. Just imagine how many bikes they would be selling if the winter wasn't so cold and the lockdown stupidity hadn't happened! I go shopping on mine twice a week, often taking the (very) long way home. Sometimes it takes me twenty minutes to leave the car park because people just want to stop me and talk about the bike - even a guy in a Subaru something or other did the other day!

After watching vids from you, Bullet Wanderer and Saddlebags 73, this bike just grabbed my attention and would NOT let go. I just had to have one. I found one last summer, low miles, Battle Green 2018 Classic that the owner couldn't get shifting right. Hmm..so I looked into likely causes and, determined that I could make it work, off we went in my truck up to the Denver Colorado area from my home in New Mexico. We picked it up, hauled it home and a few hours of tinkering, putting in new oil, checking tires and chain, it was good to go! Just needed a wavy washer to snug up the shifter shaft in the engine case for proper shift fork engagement. It shifts beautifully now and I LOVE IT! This bike is unlike anything I've owned before, from Harley Electra Glide, to Goldwing and several bikes in between. There is something special about these bullets, they just chug along in great comfort with confidence inspiring handling. Nimble, fun, unique, economical, endlessly adaptable, it is the most fun on two wheels for a very reasonable cost. I am SO glad I found this one as they are becoming scarce. I feel that I can ride the Classic for a long time into my later years, when perhaps my BMW R1200RT will become a bit too big to manage in the garage.

In between Covid restrictions I have been out on the roads and I have met so many folk, riders and non-riders, through the draw of the Bullet. I wrote this a year ago as a comment at IRidetas chain. : -What I love about my 2018 (euro4) Classic 500 Battle Green : 1- The torque. 2-The sound. 3- the off road capabilities. 4-The practicality of the kick starter. 5-The simplicity. 6- Having a agile and light adventure/ touring / utility bike simultaneously. 7- Being more fun and less stressful than any Mid/ Big Adventure bike. 8- Not fast, it's true, but allowing a lazy and relaxing ride to go far during a endless day long. 9- Having the certainty that my purchase was/is more rational than other heavy, expensive and powerful machines for all those same purposes together. 10- The fuel consumption. ...and I confirm your feelings about it, of course.

Hello there, i would love to ask you And even Mr. Stuart, if he reads this, a few questions. I am currently 20 years old, live in europe And have the A1 license, so i ride a 125cc cruiser, And i am planning to finally do the A2 license. I absolutely love the aesthetics And character of the Bullet/Classic 500. I would love to have this bike, but i am afraid, if it does have enough power for two, Meaning me And my girlfriend? We both together weigh about 150-160 kilograms. I know with certainty, that i will never even need something stronger, than those 35 kilowatts for A2 allow, because i love cruising And the ride itself, and speeds even around 100 kph Are plenty fast on bike. But Is 20 kW enough longterm As my only bike? Sometimes i will have to do highways (130 kph in my country), but mostly speeds around 90 kph. Does Bullet have enough to push two people even up hill at decent speeds? Or do you rather recommend a little stronger bike for two? I am sorry for such a long comment, but i Hope you can tell me from your perspective as owners. Thank you in advance and i wish you a good day

@@jakubduda6944 If you are worried about not having enough speed in highways on a duo you are right; you will cruise only around 100km/h with pillion and you have to accept being overtaken by lorries...and not to be anxious to arrive to your destination. You must accept also that 125 scooters are faster, taking off in urban traffic lights, with the rider only. The Classic has low power in fact, but an enormous torque to deal with the passenger weight easily. Be aware of the size of the pillion seat. It may feel short and uncomfortable after a while for your girlfriend; a hour perhaps...I ride mine mostly a solo, in north Portugal.... avoiding highways😁

Unfortunately for me, I waited too long to get this bike while it was still available. As you pointed out, the used ones (what few I see on Cycle Trader, that is) hold their value very well; the few used ones I've seen are priced the same as they were when new. Yes, Classic 500 owners here in the US also hang on to the bikes... :) With that in mind, I'm glad that Royal Enfield have brought back the bike back in the form of Classic 350. The new Classic 350, as you know, is based on the Meteor platform; it shares the same brakes, frame, engine, and switch gear. Since the Meteor is a splendid bike; since it has a GEM of an engine; I expect the same from the Classic 350. The new Classic is GORGEOUS! Who wouldn't want such a sweet looking bike? I've already talked to the salesman who sold me my Meteor, and I let him know that I'm interested in getting a Classic 350 Chrome Red when it arrives. I WILL NOT make the same mistake twice! Especially since the world is out to ban the internal combustion engine, I'm getting the bike while the gettin' is good...

I rarely get stopped by Joe Public with their admiring questions and such about my Classic 500. What am I doing wrong? I did, however, once get stopped by a policeman whilst on my Z650. He complimented my riding, asked about the bike and let me back on my way! Another interaction with Joe Public happened like this: As a youth I had a Honda CB 250. Parking at the roadside, I popped down the sidestand, but misjudged how steep the camber of the road was into the gutter. My bike fell over with me half on it. A passing motorist, a huge chap, pulled up and lifted the bike up as if it was a pushbike. Those bikes were quite heavy. I never forget his comments that "young lads shouldn't be on such big machines" . And I have never really used, or trusted, a sidestand since. - Chriso.

Brilliant commentary...you are so right on with your analyses regarding the current homogeneity of motorcycle design and how riders fit in to the current realities.....really only folks my age have the memory (muscle memory) to appreciate the raw, thumpy and sublime nature of old technology in a vintage motorcycle.....of course the these relatively new Classics and Bullets give you that without the 50 year old motorcycle problems...thank you for your good work

Bought my only motorcycle way back in 2005. It was a 🙏Royal Enfield Bullet 350🙏 , every weekend I would leave the highway, point the bike in any direction and just ride it peacefully over all the wonders a countryside could offer (dried up lakes, dug up field, old cattle trails). The world doesn't pass by you.. you go through the world on a Royal Enfield. Ps: The bike still owns me.

Thanks for this video Stuart. I am from Argentina, and I bought a classic 500 chrome like yours. It's my first bike at my 50 years old and I am really happy with it. I agree with you about the five reasons to Buy this one before they are all gone. The music of this video is very motivational for me for some unkown reason. In my County, only a few people know about Royal Enfield. Many of them ask about the Origin of the brand. They Think it is from India or China, not from England. Thanks again.

In India, RE’s most selling bikes are 350s. Classic, Bullet and Electric. All different in their own way and under 2,500 USD. It’s inexpensive because RE is Indian Company and everything is home grown. Intercepter 650 is under 4000 USD Basically 60-70% of what you guys are paying abroad.

@@4thinternational283 My mate bought the Latest model 3 months ago. Road ready with 1 km on it and paid Rupee 3,28,000 which is approx 4,400 USD. And it includes a bit of initial modding like rim change, tyre change and insurance. Its is still considered heavy and expensive as I mentioned 350 cc models are more preferred. If you consider average income in India 🇮🇳 and roads, 350 is affordable and inexpensive Yet So pure, basic and classy.

This is the best summary of this bike's heritage I have heard from someone other than myself in 10 years. Admittedly, I've been far too busy riding one to listen to people jibber jabber nonsense about putting Harley rims on it and turning it into a scrambler. Well done.

I like talking to people about my bike ( Interceptor) and the attention "proper" bikes get , best comment I had was at Withernsea , older chap walking by chirped up " lovely job you've done restoring that"......it had 78 miles on the clock ! If I had room for a Bullet I'd have one like a shot , no pun intended . Nice film as always 👌

Lovely. Can't say I'm in the hunt for a 500, because I have a modern "classic" of my own (2015 Vespa GTS 300 Super), Which, being my sole means of motorized transport, gets me everywhere I need to go, year-round (yes, even on the East Coast of the U.S.), but I totally get the vibe of your post here: a solid, elemental bike that can do pretty much whatever you need to do, and a lot of what you might *want* to do, provided you keep a realistic head about it. Frankly, my GTS could likely keep pace with a 500 without breathing hard, but I've always loved that bike's elemental status in a gee-whiz world. Looking forward to more of your adventures on this bike (among your others, as soon as we see our way past our Great Shared Calamity).

Hi Stuart I can add a 6th reason - They simply make you smile. After a year hiding from covid I finally managed to source one! 2020 model with 56 miles only so as near as new as it gets. I could get the tribute model new but it looks is a bit too dark - especially that exhaust! Had one a some years back so great to be owning one agian. Looking to get an Himalayan and a Guzzi V7 as well. If Covid has taught me one thing it is live for now and don't put stuff off cos you never know what is around the corner! I've finally signed up to uou tube and subscribed to your channel - Your videos are Excellent !!

You've convinced me Stu! Whilst I didn't buy a brand new one, I bit the bullet (pun intended!) today and lashed out on a 2017 Bullet 500 which belonged to an enthusiast who was previously the Royal Enfield dealer in my town. Marsh grey in colour, with a beautiful set of locally made aluminium panniers and top case on Hitchcock's racks, and less than 2000km on the odometer. Very carefully run-in and maintained impeccably. Whilst the finances couldn't stretch to a brand new one, I feel that I'm indeed fortunate to have stumbled upon such a well loved and fastidiously serviced example. I think it'd be similar to buying your Bullet Stu! Looking forward to taking delivery early next week! Keep up the great work mate - I always look forward to your videos.

One totally agrees (y) Fwiw, I've a BMW R1200 GSA (a sublime mile muncher with a supertanker like fuel capacity)... plus a KTM 1190 Adv 'R' (a veritable guided missile on two wheels albeit a ride which is often terrifying at how quickly one can get into serious trouble upon it)... and also a Royal Enfield 500 Classic (in black) and it's the RE that always put the biggest smile on my face and that generally provides the most satisfying riding experience... for all the reasons that Stuart describes ! Hi Stuart another great video and i totally agree with your views i own 3 bikes including the bullet and i love it! its the bike i ride most, it always puts a big cheesey grin on my face whenever i kick it into life, and i get the utmost satisfaction from the engine noise (exhaust note) while im riding it, its such a relaxing bike too own its light and handles well ! the fuel economy is brilliant ive never ever clocked it but i reckon the tank will give you the best part off 300 mile range with normal fun style riding and as you say im always catching people looking it over. keep up the good work

Some wise words regarding performance bikes. I think you are doing are great job in promoting the Bullet, showing that once over its running in period, it’s not the horrendous vibrator others who take a short test on a new demo model harp on about. If I had space in the garage, would probably get one, as I have looked at them in the past. However not sure if it would get much riding time, cos I love riding my favourite bike so much. The Interceptor. Good stuff , Stu.
