itchy boots completed 4,500km on her prototype [ genius piece of PR by RE in my humble opinion ] and she's a very competent rider and I noticed straight from her first ride on it while riding down this horrible gravely road, she went into tourist mode and showed her viewers the amazing scenery, you don't do that on a bad handling bike, looks like RE have another winner on their hands and if its under or around £6k mark, their gona sell shedloads.

Morning Jezza. I thought that making a reference to Itchy Boots (and adding a link), could tell the story far better than I could. You are 100% correct, there was no hesitation when she first took it out. An excellent ploy by RE ! In the description, I have listed the prices I found on Google this morning. They are competitive, though obviously more than the older Himi, unsurprisingly considering the upgrades, and hardware. Thanks for the comment, appreciated.

I've seen a lot of comparisons between the new Himalayan 450's and the new Triumph 400x and I don't understand why. The two bikes are completely different bikes they arn't even in the same segment besides price. These new Himalayan's are ADV's laser focused in regards to offroad use where as the 400x is as advertised it's a scrambler meant for not much more then soft trails at best. I have no doubt the new Triumph 400x is a solid bike for the money but anyone who knows better knows it's a street bike trying to wear it's ADV dad's clothes that don't fit.
@ianhughesroyalenfield10 ай бұрын
I totally agree, the Triumph is a dressed up roadster, whereas the Himi 450 is more off road biased. The Triumph will suit a lot of people, who don’t intend to go getting down and dirty, the Himi will thrive in it. Two different animals. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks Mark. The Himi 450 is definitely well made, and from looking at vids coming out of India, performance is quite good. I have seen them happily cruising at 70mph, with top speeds about 86mph. Booked mine on 14th Nov'23.....will probably see it around 1st week of March'24. I don’t think it would be much good on motorway’s etc, but would be brilliant on back lanes, and coping with our knackered, pothole ridden roads. Only a test ride will show it’s limitations. They are both rugged, with the black one being more blingy 👀, and the white one looking more purposeful. Apart from the tubeless tyres, they are the same. They do the black one with tubeless tyres, but I don’t know if they are still gold. Another RE that will sell well.
@Fake-moon-landing.9 ай бұрын
I thought the black one was the more expensive. Cosmetically the welds look good, but I can't visually see how good a weld actually is without doing a macro, it's all about penetration. The tubeless tyre is optional extra for all the Himalayans. Specked the same the black/gold is the more expensive one. Seat height has a low and high setting.
@ianhughesroyalenfield9 ай бұрын
Yes, but out of the two I was showing here, the white one was fitted with the tubeless rims, making it more expensive. I could only talk about them, with the very limited information we had at the time. Unfortunately RE hadn't given a detailed information sheet with the bikes, which would have been helpful. As for the welds, I bow to your greater knowledge. Though I doubt you would be able to carry out a "macro" on any bike you were looking at in the dealer showroom. The welds "looked" better than many other bikes I have ridden/seen over many years. I did forget to mention the pull down rods underneath to make the seat higher, but I will go into more detail like this when we manage to take one out for a demo ride. Thanks for the comment.
@Fake-moon-landing.9 ай бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I know you can't chop the frame in half to check the welds in a show room, unless you want arresting. Doesn't alter the fact that's how you tell the difference between a good weld and a bad. Not by looking at the remaining surface weld. Saying they look fantastic kind off implies you are getting a better weld than rivals.
@Fake-moon-landing.9 ай бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfieldAlso I think but I could be wrong there is actually three different colours and the third is a plain colour being the cheapest white in the middle and the black and gold being the more expensive.

@rustyblade5845 yes. It is called the "Slate" followed by the colour. As previously mentioned, I didn't have this information to hand as RE didn't give any details, so I was just talking about the two in front of me. They were at face value too, as the dealer didn't know anything more than I did due to lack of information from RE. He just said that the white one with the tubeless rims was more expensive than the black one with tubed rims, which stands to reason.
@ianhughesroyalenfield9 ай бұрын
@rustyblade5845 I am not going to argue the toss with you on this one. I understand about weld penetration etc, but at face value, the welds looked tidy, with no spatter, and that is as far as I will go.

Hi Ian, does look the business but it doesn't seem to have the Royal Enfield DNA in it for me. Yes it's a nice looking bike make no mistake about that but it looks like a lot of other adventure style bikes. I am going to my local dealer next Saturday to see them, will be interesting to have a look and feel of it and check prices and specs etc. I had the original Himalayan and loved the agricultural look and feel of it, speed isn't everything at the end of the day. You say you could be tempted, would you consider swapping Clementine for one?🤔 Thanks for posting the video. Cheers.👍
@ianhughesroyalenfield10 ай бұрын
Hi Jonathan, I wouldn't trade Clementine for anything anytime soon. The Himi 450 shouldn't be confused with any other RE in my opinion. It's a totally modern bike, with it's liquid cooling, upside down forks, ride by wire throttle, so I don't think traditionalists will like it. It will sell by the bucket load though. Cheers
@bigwangmark9 ай бұрын
The tubeless rims are odd looking. Wonder how they are strength wise compared to traditional spoked designs. Also with the rim sticking out like that it would be harder to remove the tyres? And also easy to damage when off road eg rocky surface and a larger rock flips up and then jams into that rim sticking out. I think sticking with tubes is a better option if you are planning to really use the bike for what it's designed for. Far easier to fix a hole in a tube when off in some remote area than a hole in the tyre...And more so sidewall damage. A hole in the side of the tyre means you are stuck vs fixing the tube and being about to continue even if you still need to watch the speed till you can get a new tyre.
@ianhughesroyalenfield9 ай бұрын
I think they are similar to the ones offered by the more expensive brands, like BMW and Honda, and have no doubt been thoroughly tested. I haven’t done any serious off road stuff, so can’t comment on the pro’s / con’s of tubed vs tubeless. Cheers

Having not ridden the new one I can’t comment. I wasn’t too keen when I took the 411 out, a bit too “agricultural” for me. I will know whether the 450 is worth the extra £££’s when I have ridden it.
@Fake-moon-landing.9 ай бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I think that agricultural go anywhere don't care if you drop it, might be the appeal. No frills, I think I would be a little more concerned in dropping the black and gold one. @ianhughesroyalenfield10 ай бұрын
Hmm, you have me there. From what my dealer said, the bikes were “touring” the uk dealerships, so it’s strange that your dealers haven’t heard about it. That said, unlike when Triumph did similar with the new 400’s, there hasn’t been any promotions about it that I have seen. In my case, Roger just contacted me to say when they were coming. Promoting events like these, is another area which RE could/should improve upon going forward. Are your dealers quite small ones ? Where are you located ?
@classicrider527410 ай бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield I’m in Lancashire and the dealers have decent size businesses, I bought an older model Himalayan from one. It would be great to do what you did and see or sit on one and asking a few questions before going any further with a purchase. Thanks for posting the video, it seems that you have a good dealer in your area. Cheers Paul

@classicrider5274 hi Paul, we actually live in Carnforth, but coincide visits to this bike shop with trips down to stay with family. We don’t have any RE dealers close to us here either, hence the 90+ mile drive to do demo vids. Bloody north south divide again 🙄😂. The thing is, even going on the RE website doesn’t bring anything up about the “tour”, very odd. Other than ringing round dealers further afield, I don’t know what the answer is. I do know that after Crewe, they were going to QB Motorcycles Brierley Hill, so you could try ringing them, to see where they were going after, and so on and so on. Very long winded, but I can’t come up with any other suggestion. Good luck.
@classicrider527410 ай бұрын
@@ianhughesroyalenfield thanks Ian, I will try a few other dealers but worry I might end up chasing the bikes further south and I’m not really interested in doing that. Maybe I should just wait until stock arrives and try one that has been pre sold before the new owner takes it away. I understand all of the first bikes delivered to dealers will be pre sold and “available” stock for demo bikes and sales from stock will come later, understandable really. I’m happy with my old model and would not sell it unless I really feel the new model is better all round for the type of use I put it to (I don’t need a faster bike). Let’s see how I get on but I’m glad to have seen your video which prompted me to try to find the bikes.
