I now have the DNA two stage air filter and high flow filter cover, with the Fuel X lite on my Hunter 350. Neither made a huge difference, alone or together, but together they feel like they make the bike more complete. Together, the mods make the bike pull a bit stronger, run a bit cooler, and the engine braking is a bit less severe. Definitely worth the investment.

Thanks for the post. Seriously thinking of fitting the lite to my 350 Classic. Seen one guys vid and he checked the cyilinder temps to prove if the lower running temp claims were true. After fitting the drop in temp was significant which suprised me.

I just installed the FuelX lite on my Hunter this afternoon. I would never have noticed that little cubbyhole under the tool tray and behind the centre spine, if you hadn't shown it so clearly in this video, so thank you ever so much. Once I knew where it was supposed to end up, it felt like playing a game of Tetrix, twisting the thing this way and that in order to position it: so hat's off to your ingenuity and perseverence. My Hunter's engine felt as if it never freed up after running in. It always felt somewhat hobbled or restrained. So the DNA stage two freed it up a little. And then a stainless steel decat exhaust system from Delkevic with a fairly open 9" (225mm) shorty end can freed it up a whole lot more. The S/S exhaust changed the bike's appearance in a big way, but I'm coming around to liking the new look. The bike's manners also improved, but the sound was somewhat raucous on heavy acceleration. Enter the FuelX. After a brief 25mile test run, I can say the bike runs beautifully. It now does everything I want of it. It can plod like a tractor and sound like a tractor when exploring leafy little single track roads with grass up the middle. But it can also hustle. Interestingly, when pushing the bike, the raucous edge has gone, instead sounding more refined and focussed in its bullishness. Only thing is that the bike wouldn't start if I didn't give 10 -15 seconds for the mapping to set itself up (this despite having let the bike tick over for well over fifteen mins to settle the ECU). As a result the engine management light came on (but self extinguishes after several starts with proper procedure). However, I have a feeling that the FuelX might have learning software that will in future allow immediate start up as soon as the fuel pump stops whirring. As it stands, I'm delighted with the fuelx. The bike is now everything I wanted it to be. PS, wishing you well and full recovery after your dreadful accident.

PPS, the FuelX now works perfectly. The problem I had with starting the engine was due to the battery failing intermittently!!! on my 16 month old bike. Within days, the battery failed completely. With a brand new battery the bike starts immediately, with the Fuelx setting itself up in less time than it takes for the bike's fuel pump to prime.

Did it improve your final speed?
@alexugur
@alexugur 27 күн бұрын
@@alejandropavan3366 No, not in any significant way. This is because the ECU mapping and the gearing are still essentially the same. Freeing up the engine simply means it is happier to spin up and run at slightly higher revs. The engine no longer feels as if it is labouring. I specifically got the Hunter to explore the back roads - many single track - around my home in West Cork, Ireland. Being now able to have a bit of a blast down some of the more winding B roads is a welcome bonus. However, if I really want to go faster or travel longer distances on A roads, I still have my old 650 V-Strom for that.

I put one of these on my Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, and it made a mild difference. That bike was almost bone stock intake and exhaust, but anything that corrects the extreme leanness of the factory mapping is a good thing 👍

I wish that I would have had more opportunities to ride the Hunter with the FuelX, DNA intake, and Coffman's exhaust before it was totaled. The brief highway run I took felt like the engine had more power in the mid and upper RPM range, so I think the upgrades netted a few extra ponies. I'll try to get another Hunter 350 and revisit that project again next spring. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

My input (based off my own experiences and my videos on the subject) I have a Stage 2 DNA, Full exhaust and the Fuelx. It's made a massive difference to the bike in terms of how it runs. Smoother, can take highway speeds easily, basically it's a happy bike that doesn't really struggle (except acceleration but it's a 350 1cyl thats heavy) That being said a stock 350 is a 14-15 0-60 bike. Mine is at 12 seconds. Which i imagine a Hunter could be faster with these same mods due to the design of the bike being lighter and more aerodynamic. Also warning for anyone. If you make any performance mods... You will want the Fuelx before the exhaust. If not the spark plugs will foul extremely quick and damage will happen longterm.

I had a bundle of extra wiring in there for the Denali T3 switchback LED tail lights ( www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/denali-t3-rear-switchback-led-turn-signal-pods?sku_id=10041373 ). That made my task even trickier... shoehorning everything in that cramped space was a trick! That makes sense. If you want to keep your tool kit, that seemed to be the only.place to put anything. I was a little jealous when I saw the open side space on the classic as well. But all fit in the end, and the throttle is much more enjoyable and refined. Just need the exhaust swap next year.

Hi guys. Need your help. I got fuel x lite installed on my meteor along with BMC air filter. Since then I have been getting recurrent check engine light. Took the bike to the RE service center. They checked everything and told me that there was nothing wrong with the bike. They unplugged and replugged the fuel pump and the light was gone but it is back again. I suspect there is something wrong with my fuel x as the error code was system too lean. The bike runs absolutely fine though.

Hi. I have booked a Super Meteor 650 and yet to receive it. I came across this device on the internet and then found your video. I wanted to ask, does this increase fuel efficiency or does this increase the performance (read power or top speed) of the bike? I am not a fast rider, so my priority is fuel efficiency. I am wondering if this would help.

It looks like the Hunter gas cap is the same as my 350 Classic cap. I have had problems with my cap since it was new and it finally failed. The key was stuck, wouldn’t turn and the cap was open. I had to tear it apart just to get my key back. The dealership is currently looking into whether this is covered by the warranty. Have you noticed anything with your cap malfunctioning? Hope all is well with you.

Did I miss something? I installed a Fuel X Lite as well on my '21 Himmy after installing an AEW muffler and DNA air snorkel. After 200+ miles, it stills pops on the decel. Not sure if the Fuel X is working properly.
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 10 ай бұрын
That's a good question! Some minimal popping (sometimes mislabeled as "backfiring") is normal due to emissions controls. The EGR and PAIR valves on many modern motorcycles will cause them to pop on decel just a bit, particularly when they are running on the cold-startup map. To properly test these gadgets, we would need to install a wideband O2 sensor in the exhaust and monitor the emissions both with and without the FuelX connected to see what's happening. Alternatively, we could use an OBD2/CANbus reader to monitor the engine parameters (e.g., perceived O2 readings at the ECU, injector duty cycle, ignition timing, etc). I was working with a telematics company in India that is developing a custom interface for Royal Enfield motorcycles. Our plan was to use their system (hardware interface and custom software) to gather long-term metrics on the Hunter 350. That would certainly give us some real-time data to monitor how the FuelX modifies the O2 readings headed into the factory ECU. Unfortunately, all of that is on hold now since my accident on Oct 18 that totaled the Hunter: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKqofYCqesqfbsk . I'm hoping to purchase another identical bike in the near future so I can resume the project where I left off. Cheers, and wish me luck! 😉👍 --QM

Why doesn't the stock program adjust the fuel mix depending on the O2? Or does it, but just keeps it too lean? Is this typical across all brands? Obviously ime a noob here... 😂
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 10 ай бұрын
Great question! Most factory ECU's will adjust the fuel mixture up/down by about ~15% to compensate for temperature and altitude/barometric pressure changes. That's usually sufficient for most operating conditions, but these newer engines that have EURO-5 compliance are forced to run even leaner than ever before. The lean condition helps them to run more frugally and pollute less, but it also makes them run hotter (lean = HOT) and produce slightly less power throughout their operating range. The lean burn can cause low-RPM stumble and stumbling off idle, and the engine can feel "flat" at higher RPMs. Keep in mind that an ICE (internal combustion engine) is just a glorified air pump that's driven by a fuel charge in the air mixture instead of using an external power source. Whenever you add a performance intake or exhaust, the engine's airflow characteristics are changed... usually toward higher airflow. Feeding the air pump more air with the same fuel charge results in a leaner mixture (HOTTER combustion), and that can be detrimental to the engine. When you upgrade both the intake and the exhaust to perfornamce pieces, you can nearly guarantee that it will result in a lean condition. If the factory ECU can't compensate by adding enough fuel, then cylinder temperatures can rise too high. This can cause damage to valves, valve seats, piston crown, and piston rings... very quickly. The loss of power and heat stress at higher RPM's is usually subtle (not felt by the operator), but it can cause catestropic engine damage in mere seconds at full throttle or high-RPM operation. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
