I am 70, own a 2020 650INT, two 2012 Bonneville 900's and just bought a 2020 Speed Twin. The Enfield has the best fuel metering, gets 70 mpg, and the best transmission of any of the dozens of bikes over a 55-year period. Update: 2020 INT650 has been getting over 75 mpg and now has close to 30,000 miles. The weight with full stainless-steel exhaust and some items removed: center stand, grab handle, passenger pegs, radial tires instead of heavier bias-ply is 196 kg /431 pounds. 11/25/2022 Update March 5, 2024. Nine months ago I installed WiseCo 83.5mm pistons and an S&S cam; miles on those parts is past 10,000 miles and total on the bike is 38,000, I highly recommend the mid-size big bore kit that is 743cc. The clutch, ECU, fueling can easily adapt to the nearly 15-percent increase in displacement and the added torque/horsepower makes it feel like a Speed Twin 900. I own Triumphs to compare the Interceptor with..

@@francisnorthwood7862 just turned 8,900 miles, have owned it 9 months. So far; rear tire replaced at 7,500 and front will be replaced at 10,000 miles or so. Brake pads are barely worn, should go 20K+ easily. I am getting 72 mpg. Have not had a single issue; chain has barely stretched! A lot of character in this forty cubic inch Twin. 18 months update 23 Nov 2021: bike is past 20,000 miles. I have installed the YSS front end kit; very pleased. Also pulled the entire exhaust and put stainless headers with stainless silencers, major weight reduction. Full of fuel barely 200kg (442 pounds wet) and mileage is in the mid-70's; currently 74 mpg, have filled up 107 times/averages of 190 miles per tank on 2.565 gallons per tank. I have worn out 3 tires on rear/2 tires front and headlamps last 7-8000 miles; on the third one due to low beam burning out. Solid dependability and the best buy value in motorcycles.

I got this model late last summer. A treat to ride... serious grin factor. I have 22 motorcycles and scooters and this is the " go to " bike for the back roads of Wisconsin. It's unbelievable how smooth the engine is and how well handles. It's a shame that the new rider today will miss the " joys " of ... vibrations... oil leaks.. gas drips... electrical gremlins, balky carburetor's, reluctant starting, poor braking, questionable handling, waiting for your buddy who owns a pick up.

As a newbie rider with limited means, I got a Meteor 350 to learn on. I promised myself to get an Interceptor as my next bike in a couple of years. It's my grail bike, and that's why I'm here. Maybe by the time I'm ready to get one, there's already a version 2 out.

@@martinrea8548 Honestly I won't recommend it for the motorways. It's for relaxed, stress free putting around town and in the backroads. Love my Meteor, I use it if I want to relax. I have some vids on my channel. Not as slick as Wildlife's though. 😅
@lowend55663 жыл бұрын
@@martinrea8548 I just came back from a 400km ride and continue to be impressed by the performance of the meteor. I'd advise a no on the motorway but I'm a learner so that might weigh heavily in my estimation. It seems happiest at the 90kmh mark so far as I can tell. I've put 3500km on it so far and it seems to loosen up with every ride. It really is for country roads rather than motorway munching, I think a sixth gear would be needed for comfortable higher speeds. Today I clocked 110mpg (UK) which is impressive because I wasn't trying to be gentle at all. The lack of a higher speed doesn't worry me to much because here in NSW you can lose your licence for blinking too often, it really is a nanny state.

I am long experienced rider and have owned a number of motorbikes including a Suzuki GSX750 and a BMWR9. The trouble with the Suzuki was it was fast, but uncomfortable, and motorcycling was setting it for bends and powering along straights which sounds a bit odd but not only gets boring, but one wonders how long one's luck will hold. . The BMW gave a cool relaxing ride but was expensive to run. In the end true motorcycling experience is to enjoy the open road, for long rides with a quality handling bike, that is easy to maintain with more than adequate acceleration for safe overtaking. Maybe I am describing a Royal Enfield.

I have been a fan of the Big 4 Japanese bikes since the 70's. I've owned 21 of them over the years, even having as many as 5 in the garage at the same time. I also had a beautifully restored 1965 Bonneville that i didn't ever ride, but only had for show. I liked all those bikes for various reasons - some more than others because, well - they were bikes! Singles,Twins, inline fours, a v-four, and a Goldwing. At the moment, i don't have anything to ride. So this.....I don't need to go scary fast anymore, i don't need to impress woman anymore,i don't want high maintenance or a non- useable garage queen. I really just want to go sight seeing in nice weather and take the wife out for ice cream. The RE 650 is making the most sense. It looks classic, sounds good, and isn't terribly expensive. Only problem now is which color dang it ?!

You make very good points here but there was only one point I couldn’t agree with. After riding the Interceptor and the Continental GT back to back, it was the GT that was a natural fit for me. I’m a little shorter and, ahem, a little older 😂. Punters should ride both before deciding, is my main tip. After 10,000 kilometres and 17 months I’m still loving it. I’ve just fitted Michelin Pilot Activ and they are brilliant so far - their replacement Classic tyre is not available down under yet......or so I was told🤔 Great work, keep it up because there are plenty of good ideas you are covering.👍

Good point. I guess my current set-up is somewhere between the stock interceptor and the GT (my bars are quite a bit lower than factory). Best thing is to test ride them both for sure. Thanks for watching.

An excellent video about RE's 650 twin. Clear, concise, enthusiastic and factually correct. If you are at all interested in this style of bike, you need to watch this video.

I grew up with bikes in the 50s and 60s and I must say this RE really hit me with its looks! It's like being back in the 60s and early 70s again!! It's just so damn pretty! Ps.I am still on bikes!! Lol!

I as quite an early adopter. Only things I dislike thus far is the crunchy clutch cable (Which hopefully will soon be sorted) and the slightly strange foot peg position. For me I would pay say an extra £1000 if it was maybe a 750 and say 60bhp as stock.

That was a great review, detailed interesting and heartfelt, but I'm biased as I have a Continental GT. This was the first review I've seen that went beyond the usual recitation of stats and picking out faults and niggles, and actually spoke about design and aesthetics. I figure if a bike can do the ton, it's fast enough and after taht I'm not looking for more power, but how does it look and sound, how does it feel to ride. I have another bike in the garage, a Ducati 748, and both of them are lovely to look at, each in their own way. So thanks for the review, it was nice seeing your iMac and desk lamp. I can't afford a Rolex, but I appreciate the look and appeal. I might have a look for one of those lamps though ;)

I don't know if my bike is a bit of a defect or not, but my first experience with the interceptor 650 was quite a mixed bag. The clutch feels a bit off, a bit clunky, I suspect it's the freeplay 'cause sometimes I hit false neutrals here and there. The front brake is... Not as responsive as I would like it to be, but hey, the rear brake works quite well in comparison. Sometimes my left foot would miss the gear lever 'cause it's right below the engine case and my left calf would hit the center stand in stationary. Handling it through traffic is quite a hassle here in Indonesia and with my current skills as a vertically challenged rider (164 cm or just shy of 5'5"), handling the bike while stationary or at low speeds is also a challenge. But other than that, if I have a stretch of open road in front of me, the torque is delivered very smoothly throughout the rev range. Btw, your videos on modding the bike has inspired my father (the one who actually owns the bike) to mod his bike as well~ Thank you 🙏
@WildlifeMoto3 жыл бұрын
Recommended mods for your bike would be the Venhill Featherlight Clutch cable. That should fix the notchy feel. Also get the sintered pads by Brembo to sharpen up the front brakes. Finally you could look at the new Tec bike foot rests so that you can tune the relationship to the leavers. All simple things to sort out. Glad the videos have been useful. Thanks.

It’s not a cheap bike. It’s a simple bike that costs about what it should given the components. It’s an awesome bike; I love it.

Another very well presented WM vid. Top Banana. Out of all the numerous YewToob channels which focus on the Enfield 650, this is one of my two equal faves, 'spesh the vids highlighting the various mods/uprades Mr WM has carried out. Looking forward to more Sir! Really, REALLY like the Conti GT and want a Ventura Blue one Ohhhh Soooooo badly. If I had enough space in the garage for yet another bike, I'd own one already.

@@WildlifeMoto I am considering getting an extension. I'm also thinking about making the garage bigger too! hehe. Seriously......if I did extend the garage I would just fill it up with even more bikes, and due to the crap weather we have in the UK (spesh here in Wales) I sadly don't ride the ones that I have already any where near enough, so really it doesn't make any logical sense. That still doesn't stop me from lusting after a Conti GT though!!!

You have made quite a lot of modifications, and even then it’s cheaper than any of its rivals! By the way, my second service was way cheaper at around ₹200 which is just £2!!! They just checked everything and did a top up of engine oil and break fluids and then again it was good to go! My next service is on the 11th of March when again it will need £270 as you said...😊😊😊 Overall, it’s one tough bike!

The only problem i find personally is the factory fit tyres,they slip a bit on corners . Except for the tyres the interceptor is a brilliant bike !!!!, nora (that's her name )is a beautiful ,nearly half the price of a triumph but twice the fun !!!!....dont get me wrong ,triumph make beautiful bikes but i personally prefer the enfield interceptor. Take care on the road mate 👍👍👍,peace

Yes, many of riders change out the stock tyres (and a lot think they are fine). Personally I’ll be fitting a set of Avon’s ahead of the season.

I was looking to return to motorcycling, and really liked your video. I was almost sold on the Royal Enfield until I read it needs servicing every 3000 km. Using it for a summer commute, no way can I live with that. Candidly, it is ridiculous, which is a bit of a shame, because I really liked it. I have now bought a Triumph Trident. Again a no frills no nonsense similar sought of motorbike. Although about 2 grand more expensive, it has a 16000 km service interval, and I only need to service it annually. It also is a lovely bike to ride.

Hi Malcom. The 3k service thing isn’t entirely true. The manual states a 3k service, but honestly it’s just a basic check over. The bigger service is at 6k and even that should be low cost given the basic nature of the bike. Congratulations on the new Trident, looks like a fantastic machine. I must take one out for a ride soon. Enjoy.

Loving your content, especially the custom cable, taking it to the next level. Had my bike since October, short commute to work at stupid o' clock in the morning so mod wise it’s the Oxford Heated Grips, DNA air filter and some cosmetic chutney from Baak, they could do with getting you on board for some instructional content as their laissez faire approach is a bit to free spirited for me. Been uming and arhing on the exhausts and finally bit the bullet, S & S in the post, Hagon shocks in the kitchen. Keep up the good work, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for you on the Cally Rd. safe riding.
