Planning on signing up for the Basic Riding Course at the local Community College (as I haven't been on a motorcycle in about 35 years). Like you, I was inspired by Noraly with the Himalayan, but based on the riding I would be doing the Meteor makes so much more sense. I enjoy your rides and commentary on the bikes. Your enthusiasm for riding certainly comes through. Stay safe and sane!

Ronin, I'm really HAPPY for you buying the Meteor 350; that's great! BTW, I have the yellow Meteor. I not only like the color of it; I also like the blacked out look. I like everything about the bike that you do, and I like them for the same reason. As someone who just turned 60, I don't need or want to go fast anymore. I had faster bikes when I was younger; I've been there, done that, and lived to tell about it, TYVM! The Meteor goes as fast as I care to go on two wheels anymore. As for the Classic 350, I'm thinking of getting one of those too. Not only does the bike share the same GEM of an engine with the Meteor; it's freakin' GORGEOUS! RE really nailed the look; they made a modern bike, while making it look as though it came from the late 1940s-early 1950s. Anyway, I shall anxiously await your videos about the Classic 350... :)

Good morning, Sir! Great to hear you're making the Meteor your own. To my knowledge, RE doesn't offer an OEM rear rack but I'm very pleased with the GIVI rack purchased from Hitchcock's. The GIVI is nice quality and fits perfectly. I've just installed a GIVI monolock hard case. It's 29L and available from Dennis Kirk. Cool thing, it's easily removable with no tools and carries like a suitcase. Also ordered a separate monolock base from Amazon for the Interceptor to be able to switch the case easily between the two bikes. The case is good quality and looks great too. Not too big or small. Once again, your Meteor review is spot-on. Thank you for always offering excellent advice and opinions.

I have had my meteor for about two months and really love the bike for what it is simple no nonsense transport that is fun to ride. The only bits I don’t like are the tool kit and the brakes in the wet both of which are easy fixes. As to the cost of petrol ordinary unleaded is $7.50 per us gallon and super is $8.00 ish per US gallon in the UK $4 would be an amazingly cheap price to pay.

Hi Ronin. Your enthusiasm for the brand is a beautiful thing. I have a Classic 500 and that bike is a keeper. I call it HG Wells as it's my time machine. I sat on a Meteor 350 a couple of weeks back at the Scottish Motorcycle Show in Edinburgh and it felt really comfortable. Chatting with one of the dealers who told me she had orders in for forty Royal Enfields. I'm trying to persuade my wife to go for her motorcycle licence and I would buy her a Meteor 350, being a gentleman I would need to make sure that it was ran in properly for her. If you think gas your side of the pond is expensive at $4 a gallon ours works out at around $11 a gallon for 99 octane premium, which is what I run the bikes on. Our gallon is larger but not by much. Keep up the great content, always a pleasure watching your posts.

Hey Old Man Ronin, thanks for sharing your experience with the Royal Enfield Meteor. I've been riding since I was eleven and I just turned 67. I sold my last Harley last year and am really missing having a motorcycle. I don't need a big heavy bike that I can ride cross country, or one that will run 75-85 on the interstate. I need a small commuter bike to run around town or maybe 40 miles to my part time job. The Royal Enfield seems to be something to really consider. On thing I like is the price and that it's not covered in a plastic shroud, so it should be easy to do standard maintenance and some simple repairs. Thanks, Old Man Johnson

Hi great video review of the Meteor. Like you I have a Supernova and love it. Agree a back rack as standard would be great. I fitted some Bike Tek Diablo throwover panniers to my Meteor. Hitchcocks UK say you don't need pannier racks for these. There is a lot of strappage so I plan to leave them on permanently. The only problem is the straps across the rear saddle only tighten up tight and neat if they pass across the top of the grabrail, making it difficult to hold on to the rail when putting on main stand. I am getting a little chrome Royal Enfield grab handle which fits to the top of the rear forks. I don't think this will work that well and may end up bolting it to the existing grabrail.

Enjoying your vids thanks OMR. I own an Int650 in the UK, which is also a solid motorcycle. Not really sure the Meteor would work over here though due to the way the rider capacity rules are set up (new riders have to ride 14bhp until they pass their A2 test, but can then go up to 47bhp). Looking forward to your thoughts on the 650s.

I believe that those faster comments are based on the fact that there is a lot of bikes around the 300 to 400 size which are capable of doing up to 100 mph and certainly 30 years ago 250cc bikes could easily hit the ton, so a brand new 350 which will only do 75mph is why people say that it should be capable of 80+

About the Brazilian trick, its not really a trick actually, the dealerships called all meteor 350 owners for a ecu remap due the Brazilian unic pump gas we have over here (with 27% of ethanol mix)... So with this remap we gained 10km/h on the final speed and the motorcycle itself its a lil more awake over the low to mid rev range.

Thinking of getting a meteor as a weekend runabout. Re fuel economy, if I ride my NC750S like a scared child I can get 80 mpg out of it (though a UK gallon is maybe different to a US gallon? 4.5 litres anyway).
@ccooper87852 жыл бұрын
If you ever get the chance to compare the Meteor side-by-side with the Classic, do you think the Meteor fuel tank would fit on the Classic? I like the classics front guard shape and the foot peg position, but then I prefer the Meteor fuel tank and handlebars. It would be good if RE gave us the option to choose these items. It would be even better if they gave us the option of a longer and higher frame for those of us of a taller disposition.

RE make a very good right hand box pannier for the Meteor which I already have. Unfortunately they don't (yet) make a left hand one. This is because pillion riders in India are often women and they ride sidesaddle because they wear saris. LOL! I'm told there's a left hand pannier on the way, which I'll buy. If I was doing longer distance over night riding I would remove the pillion seat and put a luggage rack in its place. The mounting points are already there, so it's an easy thing to do (I might even make one myself). This would be better than a luggage rack because it would put the weight further forward.

I simply can't nor won't diagnose issues without being on the bike. I hope you appreciate this. Internet experts always offer their opinions, but in reality, you simply must ride the bike and do a full "hands-on" diagnosis to check out issues or possible problems. If the factory rep or dealer has checked it out and say no issue, then feel secure in what they say, for it's their butts now if something is wrong! I hope this reassures you a bit. I have had ZERO issues with either the Himalayan or The Meteor 350 and have thousands of miles on both! Cheers Chris all will be well!

Boy you Americans are lucky, in the UK the price of one gallon is around £6:76 or more! I've always thought you guys have been spoilt on oil price compared to UK certainly and Europe in general 🤷🏻♂️

I'm not a good reader.... I missed the running in rules only noticed them after I did 7,500km (4660 miles) luckily our maximum speed limit in NZ is 100kph (60mph)

In the mid 90’s Royal Enfield released a Diesel motorcycle which gave a fuel economy of 165 miles per gallon it was known as ‘Taurus’ Ik it’s a bit personal question but did you serve in the military?

Has anyone ridden the Meteor on unsealed roads, like forestry roads? If so, comments on handling and whether stock tyres are sufficient.

@@OlManRonin And the Honda Rebel 500 has a similar fuel consumption to the Meteor 350 if not lower, depending on the rider's way of riding and it's way more powerful for its fuel consumption. What's the point of having a 350cc motorcycle that it has just a bit more power than a 125cc?? Confort, maybe?
