Its good to give respect to the lower tier monsters. They were always a important part in a persons journey in getting to hunt the big bois. Especially since many of them were peoples walls and why some people remember them were BECAUSE they helped them get better. Yian Kut Ku for me when i first started in MH1 still has a special place in my life cause of that. Its also a reason why i love Yian Garuga so much, making a stronger more cracked out version with even its own theme song just makes the whole Yian line so special to me *cept you blue, literally 0 reasons to exist lmao* so yeah never forget your early game monster bros folks. They were the ones that helped brought you to the point of fighting Gods, love em or hate em that is a fact.

I came into the series with Rise, so my experiences with the Great Soggi are a bit different than most. He never really posed me much of a challenge, since my first playthrough was with LBG so he wasn't my first wall, that was taken by Rathian. Though since then, Royal Ludroth has become one of my favorite low-tier monsters. I think it's a creative design, fun and simple moveset, and great lore. There's not much I can say that wasn't already said in the video, but I hope Royal Ludroth becomes a mainstay of the series. I've finished world, and am working my way through 4U, and I've missed him in both games.

Been around for a little bit, and to be honest, I remember watching your Rathalos video and saying "Wow, that was cool, shame that I'm probably never gonna see that guy again." And then, one day, bored as hell at 4 AM, your Teostra video comes up. I immediately recognize your voice and name, and figure I should check out what else there is to see. This was awesome! It needs a little bit of polish, but you've nearly perfected the formula! Can't wait to see what you go over next. As for an early game monster that I love, I adore Tetranadon. The Kappa inspiration and the sumo fighting style, his preferred diet of Goocumbers that he will just shove his face into the ground to find, the mix of frog, turtle, and platypus in his design, his wondrous armor and weapons, I just love him so much! Not to mention the fact that the males will literally perform sumo matches against each other to impress females!

My first game was tri on the Wii. Got scared of the night hunt for Jaggi and turned it off. Picked up 3U on the switch, didn’t understand how to play and got stuck at I think rathian. So I started over, focused, and read all the instructions and dialogue. This probably is what led me to love monster hunter, the dialogue and world building of 3U felt so cozy. Dude I played conduit as well, only the campaign cause I had no idea there was a thing as online (same thing with 3U) Purple Ludroth isn’t my favorite but I’m a sucker for his shades of pink and purple. It’s such a “monster hunter” looking monster.

It was definitely one that taught me how to deal with faster monsters especially in the water of Tri. But my fish Gobul just beats him a bit! But to answer your question I have one in particular that was a wall for a while and now it's become my marker between the low chair to the entry of the tough ones: Barroth. Now I don't know if anyone remembers the Wii version but I remember him being particularly tough on the village quest. He would be out in the hot area he would start to roar which would cause distractions and if you had the mud he had different weaknesses. Which i didn't know at all! He's the one that I eventually tried the hammer on and great sword to knock em out! ... And all he wants to do is chill in the mud and eat ants lol

I can deal with much stronger enemies without too much stress, yet the guild strikes me with fear with three simple words. Hunt 1 Blangonga. The snow monkey that hails from a twisted universe where fun is not allowed. Capcom even made him the HR2 urgent not once, but *twice.* What sick, twisted mind would subject us to this horror that early.

i think the difference in lore details between elder dragons and the lower level monsters makes perfect sense in universe too. of course more is known about ludroth and royal ludroth, they're much more common and easier to observe ! way easier to get your hands on a specimen to study. on a different note, i don't think the sponge on the weapons serves a solely decorative purpose. instead, it's probably the exact thing that gives them the water element. water being stored in the spongey bits and released upon each hit is a really neat concept to me, and i like how grounded that feels. anyway royal ludroth has been one of my favorite monsters for a long time and i really enjoyed this video on him ! i even learned a lot about his ecology that i didn't already know :) makes me appreciate his design even more

Was never a wall for me, but Najarala always stood out to me as an amazing monster. I think it’s because of how big it is after fighting other low-mid threats like nerscylla and gypceros, and that its the first (and only) large snake wyvern. In general though, low-mid monsters have always been some of my favourites (great jaggi, yian kut ku, zamtrios, the aforementioned najarala, bishaten, even iodrome). There’s such a good variety of monsters that isn’t seen so much in the higher tiers, and the monsters have such personality that goes beyond how scary and badass they are. Really cool video! Love that you’re focusing on lower-tier monsters. Royal ludroth is such a great early game monster!

My first MH game was World/Iceborne. At the time I was breezing through the start of the game with Defender gear. I just picked them because they had such great defense or did great damage. And I loved blast. Might've hit some bumps in difficulty but I didn't struggle that much. Then Iceborne came around for me eventually and it started getting real for me. Viper Tobi Kadachi, Fulgur Anjanath, Glavenus, Brachydios, Nightshade Paolumu, Tigrex, and others proved to be really challenging fights for me. But Velkhana... Velkhana was the absolute worst for me. I hated fighting it, and I was determined to fight it solo. I would fail countless times and I contemplated every decision I ever made in my life that had brought me to this point where I was suffering fighting an ice dragon. Somehow, someway, I killed it. Then came Shara... But Velkhana was the first wall in Monster Hunter for me.

I must add: tri’s royal ludroth is considerably harder then 3u’s or portable’s. Many think that tri is the hardest in the 3rd gen because of the lowest armor stats of the hunter. That is wrong: tri’s ai is drastically different and cleverer then any of the 3rd gen. I love royal ludroth and did hunt a lot of them in mhp3. I first played tri in 2021 and even I sometimes carted with royal ludroth. Tri’s monsters do less 60-degree turns and instead usually use attacks to turn. They also do lesser attacks that live them open. In mhp3 royal will unlikely perform his ultra attack with the run and usually does hipcheck. In tri he spams run attack, rarely hipckecks and jumps

To me this is THE monster of resentment. I started with MH Stories, yes Stories. As a pokemon fan i saw a knock off that was actually well made and i tried it out and fell in love with the creature design. Only after I dug deeper into this rabbit hole and played through everything i could of this amazing series. But, during my first playthrough I had to choose between two monsters that I really liked, Zamtrios and Royal Ludroth. To me they were pretty much the same in terms of looks, but powerlevel wise, the former felt better. I played through the whole game with that Zamtrios and always thought about that one Ludroth i left behind. I legit almost couldnt sleep because i felt bad. I wanted to get as involved as i could but i was getting hit with backlash 😅 This little bond really tied me to the monster a lot, and when I played through MH3U and GU I farmed the hell out of my boy. Loved the fight, love the design, now i love it even more thanks to all the little details in the video. I hope that i’ll be able to make it up to my boy. I wasn't expecting such a big monster to be as fast as it was, and the arena you first encounter it in was "small" for such a big monster. The area you first fight it in is actual pretty big; I was just really bad at the game. It actually got me to change weapons from great sword to heavy bowgun, one that I'm grateful for since it allowed me to fall in love with the ranged weapons in MH. I still use bows or heavy bowguns as my main weapons.

Despite the fact that I also started with Tri and was also goddamm TERRIBLE at it, at least I managed to figure out how to upgrade my equipment pretty quickly, so I managed to get past Luddy just fine. I still fought it plenty of times, though. It was my favorite test fight for any new Fire or Thunder element weapon I ended up crafting. It was back when I thought elemental resistances had a way bigger impact on damage dealt than it really did, so I did have multiple monsters to test new weapons with. Obviously, I only used their armor set's resistances to figure out their weaknesses. We didn't have the detailed Hunter's Notes we have now back then and I was a bit too prideful to look up the full stats online. So yeah, I don't have that big of a connection to it, but I do still have fond memories of it as a decent practice partner. My first very big wall in Tri ended up being the Barioth, funny enough. Its speed was so overwhelming to me back then and it's the main culprit for making me the Lance main I am today. Because hey... didn't matter if I couldn't figure out when and where to dodge its attacks properly if I could just block them. Also, as a Lance main, I do approve of wanting to bring back underwater combat. The Lance was surprisingly fun to use there, with the Lance charge making you attack like a huge swordfish.

To deal with the Wilds hype I borrowed a Wii and am replaying TRI, my first monhun. It is like...so good. But also, it tries SO HARD to make you quit in the first 10 hours or so. Weird fetch quests, putting lagiacrus in one of the first missions, and secret Key quests. But man. I'm so glad I hear my head against this wall until I got it.

I've had exactly 3 walls, the first one was Gobul, similar to you, Tri was mas first game, i didn't had a pro controler so i played with a wii mote and nunchuk, Gobul was an underwater fight so add that to the fact that my depth perception was an absolute joke since it was one of my first games on fully 3D with a whole 3D camera (i only really played pokemon games lol) it was a nightmare, i had to come with diferent ways to bring the dam fish out of the water to even had a chance to land a hit on him, upgraded my sword and shield the best i could, i learned the food mechanics etc. It took me a lot of tries before i could lower his hp enough on land for him to go to sleep and finish him rather quickly. The rest of the game tasted like glory until Giginox came around and made me stop playing 😅

Younger me never really struggled with the royal ludroth... barroth bullied me for 2 weeks straight tho... Tri was my first game too. It was rather satisfying to get past him, but I really needed to look into a new armour set/weapons for him. Renoplos was the only "improvement" I could reliably get my hands on. I had a similar experience in 4u. As a kid I was equally as embarrassingly bad at the game lol. My first ever full armor set was molten tigrex, cuz I didn’t even know about set bonuses until I got to late G rank and someone called me out for not having skills. Anyways, my personal wall was the gypceros- I just kept getting flash banged and hit afterwards. I gave it half a dozen tries before giving up entirely on the games. A few months later, I came back (like everyone eventually does) and explored my options before actually fighting him again. This is when I learned I could upgrade my gear, and so I did. The moment I saw him finally go down was the moment I finally got hooked on this series, and now I’ve probably got like 1000 hours on 4u ALONE

I have 2 sets of Top 4 monsters in MH (because of the prevalence of 4 as a number in MH, and the separation between Low and High Rank; (Interchangable Orders) While my High Rank Top 4 is full of heavy hitting flagships; (Razewing) Rathalos (Hellblade) Glavenus (Stygian) Zinogre (3 Lords) Lunagaron It’s my Low Rank Top 4 that I find myself going back to time and time again for their unique designs/ecology/genuine fun-factor Royal Ludroth Barroth Zamtrios Nibelsnarf These guys are some of my favourite creatures in the entirety of the series and I desperately want a system of monster variants designed to amp low tier basic monsters into flagship level threats. I want to see what happens when monsters like Great Jaggi/Maccao, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Bulldrome and the like get new versions with over the top moves, incredible gear, and newfound respect within the player base.

And now thanks to your video i know a lot more than I used to and it makes me like this Leviathan even more now! I always assumed that Royal Ludroth was an Alpha male, but not like this I didn't expect him to run a harem like Elephant Seals do but not being the lazy lumps of fat that those seals are. And to answer your questions: My favorite skill check monster is without a doubt Anjanath! He scared the hell out of me when he launched his first fire breath at me after only doing nothing with his sneezes

Anjanath was my skill check in World too but that's cuz my dumbass was rushing lmao. Thanks a lot though! @@cr-volcanic For me Anjanath was a wall because my stupid brain thought picking up the Charge Blade as my first proper weapon would be a good idea. But yeah seeing the biology about these animals is amazing. I always say in discussions about, why I love World so much and Why I prefer it over the pace and combat focus of rise, it just gives a larger emphisis on the animal aspect of these creatures. They have their daily lives, the hunt they drink they sleep they mark their territory and interact in different ways with the other monsters Tobi Kadachi for example leaves your hunter alone when, you are out on an expedition and gather materials. I was very surprised that he just walked along with me, while I collected bugs and mushrooms for potions.
