The curve is due to the hop up system in the gun that spins the bb backwards to give it lift so it goes further. "The scopecam" you see is also mounted separate to the scope so what looks like centre scope actually isn't in this case. The biggest difference between airsoft and firearms in terms of aiming is that rather than dropping like a bullet the bb goes up for the first however many yards then drops after, like an upside down u.

Wind is also much more important because the BBs usually weigh less than half a gram. Maximum range is determined by the muzzle energy/velocity of the airsoft gun, tolerances of the barrel, and type of BB. Airsoft fields regulate the muzzle velocity of guns on the field, with snipers and DMRs usually having a higher muzzle velocity, but there are rules governing the minimum engagement range, because getting blasted up close with a sniper would suck. Better quality airsoft snipers come with more accurate barrels, and some brands even offer upgrade kits. And finally, heavier BBs will reduce the muzzle velocity of the rifle, but will reduce wind drift, and give more consistent accuracy.

I watch novritch regularly and he was a trained sniper for his country, he’s mentioned numerous times about wresting his gun on the window ledge, he does it so the barrel can’t be seen outside the window he makes sure to keep the muzzle only just poking out the window but everything you mentioned about snipers sitting on the back wall is what he has said in one of his previous videos.

I'm an airsoft sniper... let me tell you about this: Novritsch is sniping with a spring powered sniper rifle (there are multiple other options that include pressurized greengas, pressurized air and electric pumps whereby these are rarely used in snipers) When he racks the bolt he compresses the spring. As he presses the trigger the spring is released and pushes a piston forward which creates the pressure that accelerates the bb into the barrel. Right at the beginning of the barrel there is a small cutout hole on top where a piece of rubber is locatet, this is called the hop-up. This piece can be adjusted so that it sticks more or less into the barrel, giving the bb more or less backspin. The backspin pulls the bb upward while gravity is pulling it down. You could actually make the bb go perfectly straight before it succumbs to gravity, but most people prefer a very slight upward curve before the bb drops down because this gives the longest possible range. To help against the wind at long ranges sniper bbs are usually alot heavier than other ones, which does help quite alot, but can't eliminate the effects. There is a technique against steady wind which consists of tilting the rifle so that the bb spin counteracts the force of the wind. The youtuber Silo Entertainment is really good at this and I recommend watching some of his videos, either with the SSG24 or the SSG10 (both snipers by Novritsch) -your friendly airsoft sniper :)

The BB would spin because there is a hop up inside the gun, that makes the bb spin upwards when its moving inside the barrel so it would fly farther when its leaving the barrel to get maximum range (magnus effect) , rather than curving down in a short range, maybe novritsch using a heavier bb like 0.38gr or 0.40, normally rifle airsoft use 0.22-0.30 😂 i dont know, the heavier the bb the straighter it will be traveled but requires higher power spring and compression inside the gun.

.4 or heavier for sniping. Less effected by the wind and more joules carried downrange. I personally use Geoff super precision .48s and will be trying their .50s as soon as i can get hold of some. I get hits out to 100m with my heavily tuned rifle, which while it does not sound like much is a fair distance to be shooting a BB and significantly outranges the 60/70m most people shoot at.Put simply people assume they are out of range beyond about 60m.

Range depends on power / fps limits in a given country (e.g. in the UK it is 2.5 J => ~ 520 FPS on 0.2 g BB). With this power, you can easily pull 80-90 m, when hitting an A4 card with 10/10 effectiveness. In my country, where the limit for sniper rifle is 3.9 J, you can accurately shoot at 110-120 m (in good, windless weather).

2:34 This looks like one of his older videos. He once explained he used to mount a full size cam-corder to the top of his scope because go pro and other action cameras weren’t giving him the zoomed image quality he wanted back then for the “kill” shots As for the weird behavior of the rounds . Airsoft guns typically have a “hop-up” mechanism that imparts a back spin (like striking a cue ball at the bottom) to take advantage of the magnus effect. This backspin provides lift to the flying BB and allows the rounds to travel farther while still keeping within the fields joule/kinetic-energy limits. Once the projectile’s velocity and spin slow to a certain point the magnus effect starts to wear off so the round will start sinking more rapidly from gravity and the decreased lift. Unfortunately airsoft BBs can’t be manufactured perfectly spherical so they occasionally have a somewhat erratic flight dynamic where the imperfections combined with the hop up and velocity will cause the round to either diverge left or right even without a crosswind mid flight.

Airsoft guns have a thing called Hop Up, and what that is is a little nub inside the barrel that provides backspin to the bb. So if you’ve got it fully applied when the bb is shot it will come out the barrel and pretty much instantly go up. You can adjust this to apply more or less to your preference.
@generalgrievous6689
@generalgrievous6689 4 жыл бұрын
It's hop up. When the target is far away, you adjust it to spin the bb, so it goes up and then dips down. And then there is wind, you adjust it and then tilt the barrel so when it goes up, it goes against the wind.

Whats also really wild with the hop up system, is that if you tilt the rifle you can make it curve, and if you know your gun well enough you can actually predict how far out that curve is and shoot around things quite nicely. Its pretty wicked actually.

ton of factors go into airsoft sniping 1) what type of rifle you are using ( gas, electric, spring ) 2) your hop-up which puts backspin on the BB to make it fly straight/up/down to make adjustments (all airsoft guns have hop-ups) 3) weight of the BB you are using 4) spring, barrel, and piston inside of the rifle 5) how much FPS the gun has (feet per second) which determines how fast the bb is flying (some fields have an fps limit so you don't hurt people)

Hey dude, The reason there's so much variation on the BB's comes down to a few factors such as Wind, heat and humidity hust like a real bullet. The reason that these dance around in the air however, is mainly due to two things. 1. Weight, they're incredibly light. 2. Unlike bullets that are precision engineered to have as few surface imperfections as possible, these BB's are almost all imperfect. Buy a tub and you'll notice some have small bits of plastic hanging off, little holes, bald spots etc. Thats why you'll see a BB fly all over the place because the imperfections cause drag/lift on the projectile sending it in different places. I once met a marine on Fairford who told me a story about how he fell over and broke a magazine and reloaded the round into another magazine. He noticed that one of his rounds had been scratched up pretty bad but he loaded it anyway, later on they were engaged about 300 yards out and he watched the tracer he scratched up go pinging off to the left. I don't know how true that is, all sorts of bollocks is said in the naafi.

8:25 this is called 'hop-up' where there is a slip bump inside the inner barrel which as the bb passes by, it puts back spin to get the bb to go further. so it hops upwards and then falls. as opposed to a gun shot or a paintball shot which just dips and you compensate by just aiming higher, you can manipulate the shot by increasing or decreasing the hop-up effect on an airsoft gun. in addition, you can tilt the gun left or right to compensate for wind by using the hop-up effect to counter-act side wind

I play airsoft and in this video, Novritsch has the main scope ( bottom one) and a scope cam ( top one) so the view you see can be a bit shifted to what he sees through his scope. snipers can be very accurate and the curve can be: hop up ( backspin on the bb), wind, luck and other variables.

The build of the gun, hop up system, bb weight, barrel length and tightness, etc can very much influence its range. Back around 10 years ago I was heavy into the hobby with well over $20k into it. I built record breaking guns that could shoot well past 100 yards with the correct weight BB. I’ve had airsoft sniper rifles chronograph 1,350 FPS on a .20 gram bb powered by propane gas. I would use a .4 gram bb for play and it would shoot around 130 yards. This was used at a field where FPS requirements were not a thing. You signed a waiver and you could use whatever you wanted. Only experienced players would ever play this but man was it a blast!

Airsoft guns have something called a hop-up. It makes the BB backspin while in the air. That stabilizes it and makes it travel further, but that backspin doesn’t carry all the way through the BB’s flight path, so that’s why it dips so quickly

with regards to the airsoft sniper the reason the guy in the vid is aiming lower and the bb pellet is going up is because he is adjusting the hop up on the rifle basically you can change the amount of backwards spin on a bb as it is fired to give it more height which allows for much longer shots - essentially makes the bb hop up

One thing to note is the crosshair we see is added in post edit of the video. The weird "scope" you looked at, at the start, is his camera and how he hides it. So, what we see is the video feed with a crosshair overlay. So really he can make himself look good by making the cross hair, accurate, in post. However, that doesnt detract from the adjustments hes doing at the time. There is spin on the bb's usually backspin as this helps them stay straight and travel further. the side to side is likely wind though.

airsoft guns have a hopup system that rotates BBs out of the barrel, using the magnus effect to make them go up instead of down right away. Well synced hopups (like novritch's) will bend the trajectory of the BB, but it will land where it's desired. You can also use the hopup to counteract winds by tilting your gun. Since the hopup makes the BB rotate upwards, if you tilt your rifle to the the left you can counteract Left to right winds. If you tilt the rifle to the right you will counteract right to left winds. Sniper are great at using their hopups to maximum effect. Also, he is probably between 80 and 110m from those targets, by the looks of it.

Your hop up Weight of BBs Wind/elvation Magnification In this video im pretty sure nov is using 0.3 BBs or something like that, if you watch his more recent videos he uses heavier bbs which arent effected as much by wind. The typic sniper grade bbs are between 3.5g and 5.5g. BBs are typically 6mm across but Novritsch released the Full Thrust system, which implements larger bbs. The rifle he’s using is his own rifle, the SSG24, which caps at about 300ft accurately. The larger box/scope on top is the scope cam so he can record when “zoomed in”. This rifle in particular fires at about 400FPS (feet per second) I think. Although it comes in different FPS variants, due to a wide a range of springs available. Hard to tell for sure though as the FPS limit is different in Austria to the UK, along with everywhere else. Each country where airsoft is legal has a different FPS limit. Austria has one of the higher limits I believe.

As an airsoft sniper, it based on how you zeroing of your scope. I use an SRS and I set my scope as the followings: With my setup I can shoot to 90m far, and I set the scope to 60m, means that if my target is roughly that far I have to put the crosshair where I want to shoot, between 45-60m I need to shoot i bit under because the BB will elevate, and over 60 I have to shoot a higher and higher because the BB will fall excessively (the velocity and the backspin will slow down). Minimum engaging distance where I live is 20m, and between 20-45m it shoots like laserbeam - just needs to aim where I want to land it. The BB has a parabolic way, so you have to count with that, and the basic thing is you have to practice and know your "gun" and to estimate the real distance of your target. The gratest enemy is the wind, it can flew the BB meters away from the target...

NOVRITSCH uses one scope in which he aims through, and the other on top is the scope-cam, which he doesn't see at all. Although, this is an older video, so he might have changed his setup and other stuff. The reason why the BB seems to go above the crosshair is due to the scope and the scopecam not being aligned. I think that since the scopecam is above the scope, the crosshair is above the round when he fires. But after a second, the backspin that was put on the BB kicks the round up, and over the crosshair. Then it curves back down. It differs on guns, but I think that some guns have a setting where you can enable and disable the hopup on it.

The reason the bb rises is because of a backspin put on the bb called hoppy which makes it rise and then fall. It is adjustable as well. And the reason the bbs sometimes go to the side and then come back is because the rifle is canted sideways a bit and you he hookup makes it go to the side and back.

A lot of things can change the accuracy of a sniper rifle in airsoft, but what matter most is : Hop up unit Spring power and piston compression Barrel BB used With a good hop up unit and power you can reach far away, but you'll need a good barrel and good compression inside the gun to have regularity and thus precision (BB always reacting the same way, exact same volume of air propulsion from each shot). In term of BB used you have a range of weights from 0.12 to 0.5, 0.12 being shit, it's often 0.2 minimum (for airsoft in general). You need a good hop up to lift heaviers BB and the heaviest also need a lot of air (Sniper have the most air volume) An heavy BB will be more stable, decelerate less, but is slower at the start. You'll actually reach your target faster beyond 30m with a heavy ammo. Heavy ammo is usually used with snipers, often in the 0.4-0.5 range When you have all the good parts you must set the hop up and the scope. The "scope" you see here is actually a scope cam, not is actual scope. It's the device you see above his scope, and the crosshair is just a video filter, so it's probably not perfectly aligned to his actual scope. When setting up the hopup, you have two choices. Either you set it to go straight the longest, then go down or to go straight, up a bit, then down. In the latter case it's a bit harder to be perfectly on target, but you can reach longer distances. it may be the case here.

Also, due to the effect of hop up (spin backward to keep the bb up longer) shooting a target at a different elevation will change how the bb react.

Probably has been said before, but the curve is caused by the hop up system in the gun. On airsoft sniper rifles you can adjust the hop up to change the curve of the bb (which is what he is doing when he says he is adjusting his rifle). A good sniper can actually use this at long distances to curve around cover and hit obscured enemies.

One thing is, the sniper rifle he uses is his. Not like he bought it but he designed it, manufacturers and sells it. He has a website where he sells and lists all his gear most of which is his brand. In addition to that he is a trained sniper for the Austrian Army. Some of it transfers over quite a bit but obviously not all. He has a Playlist where he was able to record some of his sniper training. And to pronounce his YT name it sounds like No-v-ritch. Knowvrich kinda sounding. He says it in a few of his videos but quickly. I have been watching him for a few years now and seen like 99% of his videos. Seems like a good guy too.

The variables you have are your spring power which determines your BB's velocity. The weight of the BB which ranges from .20 to .48 grams. The amount of backspin applied to the BB. Which is called hop-up. You can adjust the amount of backspin. A little piece of rubber presses down on top of the BB. You can apply more or less pressure to this which causes the backspin. No backspin and the BB dips down very fast. Too much and the BB will fly upwards. Just the right amount gives a pretty flat trajectory. the more backspin the more the trajectory is affected by the wind. But even with hop-up dialed in correctly, the BB will still lobb with a pretty good Arc over long distances. Maximum effective range for the snipers is a little over a hundred yards. For standard rifles around 50 yards. So you will definitely get to know the ballistic Arc of your rifle and BB set up. And usually dial your scope in accordingly.

the reason the bb is curving down and up is because there is a thing called hop up which makes the barrel go up or down which changes were the bb goes

OriginalHuman The maximum effective range of field-legal airsoft guns is all around 100 m (110 yd) with a highly upgraded sniper rifle replica. Most airsoft guns used for field play will have an effective range of around 43-67 m (47-73 yd), depending on the intended role of the equipment.

You set a hop up system in the gun that spins the round up and then it drops, so you can have it shoot straight and then drop, or rise some and then drop, depending on the distance. Tilting the gun will also curve the round the way you tilt the gun, allowing you to shoot around some corners or compensate for wind.

Oh wind is crazy too, me and a buddy with some wall mart $20 airsoft rife were shooting into the wind one day fir kicks and found that at a point we could actually shoot a bb about 100 feet into wind and have it lose power accurately enough to find the margin to have it fall into the other person's hand, with zero remaining momentum. I always test an airsoft by shooting straight up and timing how long till the abs fall back down. :)

it always seems going to the left because his scope cam is offset, also the spin on the BB is the reason it goes up then down again so he figures out the range by shooting at center mass predicting it will go up then come back down and hit center mass, as most people dont want to get hit in the face if at all possible, Great content as always!!!!

In airsoft sniping, the BB sometimes does not hit the dead center or scope even it is properly zeroed. Wind is also a factor, he is constantly compensating at different distances and different wind direction and strength. The scope cam he is using is not integrated with the actual optics, but it is right on top of his scope. the cross hair you see on the vid is just added when he edited the video. You will not see that he is actually compensating because he can edit what the camera captures. all his shots in the video are not from a scope but it is from the camera on top of it. That's why you will never see him compensating. He just put a cross hair on the video and align it to his preference when editing.

The scope is a normal scope with a camera bolted above it for the scope cam. The crosshair isn't his actual crosshair so it might be a bit off BB ballistics are different from conventional firearms. There's spin but it's backwards, which causes lift. This means the bb won't arc at all until it slows down at which point the bb drops fast. Too much spin and and the bb "bounces" up just before dropping. Things to account for: wind, level gun and distance. Though distance tends to be rather binary either you're in range and you aim at the center or you're not in range. There's couple meters of play at max range where you can, in theory, shoot at things behind cover. Bolt action has higher energy limits allowing heavier bb:s and faster speeds. My bolt action has twice as heavy bb and the same muzzle velocity as my assault rifle. Some fields allow semi auto only weapons to have slightly higher energies too. Wind is only really an issue for bolt action, with full auto you can just look at the stream of bb's and adjust accordingly Edit: things I forgot: Some use non white bb:s in their bolt actions to make them less visible, downside is that you can't really see them either. But as you probably know: tracers work both ways. Suppressors are mostly just for looks, though some bolt actions can be so silent that it's really hard to hear them at range.

While sniping looks fun, and it is, i know many people who buy them as a first gun and have since quit. Its like watching a "best bits" compilation. Sniping is a lot slower than this in most games, for a first time, having a semi/full auto AEG is a much more fun way to play the game. Ive been playing since around 2012 and i wish when i started someone told me not to get a sniper as my first gun. However, you could allways get a sniper and a small SMG AEG thing to go with it.

So above his scope is his camera (he has a video about it) AEG airsoft rifles have an effective range of about 100-150 meters, an average of 350 fps, and normaly shot 0.40 gram bbs Airsoft sniper rifles have an effective range above 150 meters, 450-600 fps, and normaly shot 0.60 gram bbs The trajectory of the bbs is also affected by the barrel length, barrel inner diameter, and how the hopup is set up The hopup system is what makes the bbs go hi above the crosshairs in this video

In addition, with the help of the "hop up" it extends the range of a bb by spinning it upwards. The cause of the bend of the bb to the left and right are caused by several factors, such as: The wind, The alignment of his hop up, the quality and cleanliness of the barrel , and the quality of the BB used.

In my Airsoft experience, what you want to do is hop up the BB where it goes straight then up a bit then straight again, in order to reach max distance, so what I would do is zero the scope to the max ish distance, what you are seeing in the video is his camera, that's why it looks weird like that, wind will affect the windage the hop up only effect's elevation
@marcos340loko
@marcos340loko 4 жыл бұрын
A bit of Airsoft explanation, the dips and a bit of inconsistency is due to a non optimal hop up( the part that gives the bbs backspin) if it is not optimal it’ll deviate a bit to the sides, this is an older video, can tell by the camera on top of the scope, his sniper wasn’t the most accurate back then, also the wind can affect them in longer distances, also you asked that if he has the scope zeroed for a distance, yes, usually snipers will zero their scopes on the furthest they can hit a body sized target, so they can hit longer shots without compensating. Also you can tell a bit of the distance by travel time, the bbs usually travel at 300-350 feet’s per second with heavy bbs, and they lose a bit of energy with time. Novristch has a few videos about sniping, he has some in depth videos showing max distance he can hit(80m usually, but has a few 90m shots)
