You become part of a family that civilians can never understand. Grandfather, dad, myself, my son in law, my brother, 5 nephews, 2 of my kids....we all served. It's not stupid, it's duty to your nation

I'm a former US Army paratrooper. Was in the first gulf war and am a father. My son is Autistic so I worry about him even more; regardless of the fact that he won't have the option to join the service like I did.
@A-aron8008 ай бұрын
My younger brother has a similar mental disability. Me and my older brother have already got together and figured out how we will take care of him for the rest of his life. The relief in my father's face when me and my older brother sat down with him and explained our plan I will never forget that.

My son is Autistic, he’s high functioning but he has his quirks. I know he could never be in the military. His sister was looking to join or it being an option. But she has epilepsy so that’s not there anymore. I wish the Military would be an option for them if they wanted too join. But they can’t and there is no higher calling than serving your country!

I believe that the new Royal Marines Commando flash on the blue background with red lettering is the original flash from ww2, i love how they are going back to the commandos roots! Its a really good thing because they where slowly starting to appear as just another infantry regiment the way they where getting deployed to Ahfgan. They are far from just another regiment, some of the raids carried out during WWII are incredible and it would be criminal to lose them capabilities!

What makes a good soldier in military doctrine is the “will to fight“ and the United States have that in spades.

The adds make me tear up do to, 1. pride and dedication to serve a country you love that afforded you the life that you lived up to that point because so many that died to give you those freedoms, 2 a sense of personal responsibility to follow in the footsteps of the many that died making the country what it is, 3 picturing that scene with my 2 kids if they decided to join. Both kids didn't follow mine and my fathers path but both got good college educations and moving on with life and I'm still damn proud of them. The oldest has a degree in Anthropology and the youngest in political science and is currently in politics because he's/we are so discussed with the political nature of the country atm. and the desire of a party to turn this country into NAZI Germany. To me if he can make a difference in that fight, I see it as the same as serving the country.

My great grandfather was a Royal Marine based on the southwest coast of England! Since then our family has had several uncles, Dad, and grandfather in the military! This is why I’m so patriotic. My only regret, I’ve been rated 4-F and haven’t had the honor to serve!

My mother was horrified ... my older brother served in Vietnam as did my older cousins. I was in uniform for just one day in ROTC but I was physically and emotionally unsuitable ... but smart. So 32 years in civilian military contracting ;-) I had a disabled daughter instead of a healthy son ... so no issues there for me.

As a father of 3 I totally understand that you want to protect your young ones. You're a good dad from what I can tell. That being said, other than maybe your wife and kids, i have never heard you discuss a topic more than The Royal Marines, and you tell your stories always with pride. In fact if the thumbnail didn't say "Royal Marine reacts to.." 90% of us would never know who you are. So it's literally the reason you have the career you do now. Just playing devil's advocate here, mentioning the good that came from it bro. Also, construction workers die on the job every day mate..

It's sad to me how much fighting is a part of our genetics. Rather than be afraid of it, I've learned your shadow can be like a razor blade. With control and mastery of the self, you can do anything. I can't imagine joining the army, but you'd better believe I'd fight to the last to protect my home if it came to it.

I think that The Armies of the west.. And perhaps other nations, have to approach the young generation, where they are. On puplic platforms. They need men and wemon to fill their ranks. I know that they think of it as an adventure.. Breaking their moms and dads hearts... (Irak and Afghanistan to say a few). But when you get home, you have some skillsets you can not learn anywhere else. I know some have scars on their souls. But should we not have the place for a job and a thank you home again.. That is perhaps the best wellcoming home of all....

You've reacted to some pretty rough and home hitting ads. I think you're more than welcome to take the piss out of the goofiest of ads the US Military has done. Everyone in the US older than Gen Z remembers the Marines ad where the dude goes and fights a bad CGI dragon......because why not. That's a Tuesday in the Marine Corp., right? Monday, over throw a dictatorship...AGAIN. Tuesday, fight a bad CGI dragon.
@AlexBizzar8 ай бұрын
I'm sure it's just me, but these ads are mostly lame cheese. The only decent one was the last one showing the ghost of those who didn't accept defeat. That said, I've seen a bunch of TikTok videos that were far more motivational. Sadly, we'll never see it because it's not "Telling a story" (as the buz phrase goes these last 5 years). We don't need a story. We need to see badass shit happening, supported by badass music, and *maybe* denoted by a badass voice about the branch shown. The creativity potential is high, and then we get flaccid bullshit like, "So what do you think, mom?" All of that can genuinely fuck RIGHT off.
