Lovelyto see the old "haunts" of Glasgow...lots of change but still recognize a lot. Many memories of shopping and going to the dances they had then at the Tech. Its too bad she did not stop an speak to some of the men....I'm sure it would have made their day! Well done lads and band members - we don't see them that often.!

The Royal Band is the Portsmouth band. They were given that title by the Queen after the Royal Yacht was decommissioned. The Portsmouth band provided bandsmen for the Royal Yacht. They wear flashes on their right shoulder saying Royal Band with a crown above.

@@kevinking8170 Part of the Royal Band was in Scotland for the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo and they were filling the gaps for this occasion. Depending on each band's need, bandies and buglers often get transferred to other bands during their career. For portsmouth bandies they will keep their uniform with the flash until they get issued a new one without the flash. I‘m currently with Plymouth band but started with portsmouth band and had to use that uniform for two weeks before I got new ones

Did you focus on the camo marine at 40.08, etc., as an example of a sharp marching style? That's close to where I think you left your shadow on the pavement. And, thanks for responding.

How could I have missed that -- guess I was more focused on the drum major's "Get out of the way". Regarding the other marching camo marine, there's a Civil War story of a doting mother watching her son march back home, and exclaiming, "They're all out of step except Johnny."

I've been trying to figure out how you filmed this significant event. Did you have some kind of rolling platform, and if so, how did you maneuver it so deftly through the mass of people? There are panoramic shots, close-ups, over the head shots of both band, marines with rifles and crowds, and all very smooth, with no evidence of the gait of the cameraman. I think you left a footprint about 40.00-41.00, which kind of shows the shadow of a camera on an elevator stick. I've never been inside Glasgow, but you've captured an engaging portrait of an exciting city, but of course none of this would ever have happened except for the enduring record of HM Royal Marines.

The guard officer messed up big time!!! Before giving the command for the general salute he should have ordered the guard to shoulder arms after fixing bayonets. Because he gave the command for the general salute before the lads where in the slop arms position no one knows what the fuck to do, some slop arms, some slop arms then do general salute, some don’t move, some go from shoulder arms straight into general. A total mess!!! Officer should feel terrible and probably did, it’s hard work and a lot of pressure to remember what you’re supposed to do and do it without facing the group.
@charliekilo8944 Жыл бұрын
Surprising that there isn't a movement for a salute from shoulder arms
