The ropes are durable and just like the ones at the gym. kzbin.infoUgkxTFxba6lNeHrZaHoY_LXe6ZzmMfaipnwu Caution: I bought the 50 feet ropes and they are long and heavy so make sure you have the space (I do have the space). If I was to do it again I would probably get a shorter version as 50 feet (25 feet each side) is a little long.

You are all right in your own ways....unless you have actually gone through it then you can only have an opinion and perceptions.....the weakest can achieve incredible feats when called on and the strong can fall weak...self belief is powerful if achieved and maintained... It is a massive achievement for some people to climb a rope, however they could be the one that pulls you out of a life death situation when you are not able...in our unit we were jig saw pieces... A priceless picture with all the pieces, but worthless if one was missing..!!! I am proud to have served in the army and navy......

For goodness sake. SEALS are a generic special force , a cross between the UK SBS and the SAS, The SBS are the anphibious special forces of the Royal Marine Comandos. The SAS of course are the best special forces unit in the world. Royal Marine commando's are a tough specialist unit in itself, very hard to get into and complete training, which takes 32 weeks. US Marines are just foot soldiers who train for 13 weeks and are like UK Army squadies. Respect to all of them TBH but you cant compare the US Marine to a Royal Marine comando. The only thing they have in common is the "Marine" bit.

@kinectman
@kinectman 7 жыл бұрын
Marine Force Recon is a Special Operations Capable unit so you can't really compare a unit as such to the RMC's because they are practically special ops but don't come under any of the SOC's. It's like comparing the UK Para's to a random basic Army regiment.

US marines are a hard tough force that are a large conventional sized outfit. They do not train to the level of British Marines but they are not intended to be of that standard. USMC are trained to the level they need to be at for their size. USMC do not train for 13 weeks. That is just the basic part of their training. USMC are are unique in world military. They have their own air force.

All the guys in blue/red shirts are recruits, at week 9 doing their "gym tests" to show they are competent to progress to the Bottom Field (where you do all this again, and much more, with weight.) The guys in red tops are potential "PT superior" grade, and wear the red shirts during the gym tests so that the PTI's can identify them easily to determine whether they are up to the required standard.

In reply to shrek. My lads just joined RN as an engineer. He's big and strong (6'4'') from six years of playing rugby since he was 13. He had to really up his running and stamina but his strength was ok. Just shows how relentless the running requirements are for recruits and on the job - he was shocked with that part!

@EdofEngland they don't isolate the transverse or rectus abdominal groups. Wasting a lot of the effort on hip flexors which can be worked out much more effectively with hanging leg raises whilst working out the the lower abdominals as well. If I wanted to strength my core I would use full crunches preferably weighted,, with other exercises.

Just to put this in perspective for our American brethren(?) what you are seeing is Royal Marine Junior recruits 16-19 years old in their 4th to 6th week IMF (Initial Military Fitness). The Guys in the red shirts although I am not sure as we never did it this way are "Potential Recruits" These are guys that come to the Commando Training Centre RM and are assesed for Training. If they Pass they will be asked back to join a New Training troop (in the Blue Shirts) Training lasts 30 weeks (BASIC) the last week of your thirty is only when you can be called a "COMMANDO" if you pass the tests 1.9mile speed march Boots Full combats helmet webbing and rifle Approx 34lbs (FFO) (90 mins) 2. Tarzen course immediately followed by the assault course (full kit) timed(13min) 3.Endurance course 4 mile march to start, then approx 2 mile obstacle course including Submerged tunnels underground tunnels chest high water obstacles, more tunnels then a 4 mile race back to the ranges where you are required to put down 10 rounds onto target (must hit six or fail) every miss adds time to your run. Timed 73 min 4. 30 miler Full kit over Dartmoor carrying a 50llb safety rucksack (BETWEEN GROUP) 8 hours 7 hours for officers

Those people who keep arguing "america kicked your arses" "no britain kicked YOUR arses", "us marines are better" "no RMs are the best" why not you just join the respective corps and see for yourself. I bet most of you will stop gobbing by the time you pass out. Britain founded America, we fought each other many times, realised that was not the best option, made peace and became great together. We are still the best allies and we should be proud of this bond.

Im thinking about the RMR as im really am up for the challenge and i love anything to do with fitness I've done Muay Thai (thai kickboxing) for a few years now love it better than MMA by far the drills they do in it are very hard boot camp style. But im considering the RMR as a better option because it gives me a chance to travel and that determination to be part of something as a team :)

tahoevista the guys in red tshirts are PT superiors, as in theyve been picked out as theyre seen to be the stronger members of the troop physically. lousky619, the gymtest is not about how many pushups you can do, they are doing wot is called 'swedish PT' its all about discipline, whilst in the gym, ie no scratching or fidgetting. the only criteria on it is a minimum of 3 ropeclimbs as far as i can remember.

@Choice777 It's not down to inspiring confidence. They're there to make sure the recruits are doing their exercises correctly, and in turn to they'll assess the recruits on their fitness levels and general attitude. Effectively they're acting as the first layer of quality control to make sure they take on the right candidates, saving them wasting money on training people who will never make the grade.

Hope this helps

@inky326 I highly doubt that. If that was the case the tarzan assault course would be no more. Yeah it may not be safe but this is the Rm we're talking about. I saw a guy fall from 3/4 the way up in my troop 2 weeks before gym pass out. He burnt his hands bad but carried on with the troop for the pass out. Lucky guy though his back messed up on him around week 16 and that was probably the main cause. Only thing they may of stopped is mud runs because half a troop went down with D&V before.

Regarding the first time buyer scheme, I know people who have used it and are happy it is there. I also know someone who is planning not to use it, even though they are eligible. It certainly helps people get on the ladder, which is good. Is it fuelling a bubble is the question? While house prices only rise slowly, I don't think it is. However, even if it is, the housing market didn't really crash properly during the dire conditions of the credit crunch. Prices just dipped a bit.

@@rocky76dude7 Well considering everything you stated 9 years ago has failed to come to fruition, it's doing very well. The country's afloat, which you said it wouldn't be, as you predicted that they wouldn't be able to get ahead of the debt curve, but that was achieved in 2017 when debt stopped rising as a proportion of GDP; the housing market demand has been consistently ahead of supply which you said it wouldn't be; The country has maintained net immigration throughout, which you said wouldn't be the case. All your nonsense 9 years ago was off the back of the credit crunch. We have new challenges now and the same overall outcome will result. How is the rock you crawled and hid under for 9 years?

Hey buddy ! What did I say 9 years ago about a complete collapse? Debt was claimed to be reduced in 2017 , but now has surpassed anything corbyn could have dreamed of with his spending .The opposition supports the policies and Johnson had to rely on the opposition to get his mandates as an anti mandating libertarian through the parliament .Yes , going great with record illegal and illegal immigration with 17 billion a year in housing illegals . Yes , record inflation and inability for many to buy housing .

@@rocky76dude7 None of what you have just said is due to what you were saying 9 years ago. Like I say, new era, new challenges. You stated that everyone would be looking to leave the country ... seems the opposite is still true. Everyone has had the pandemic and everyone is paying increased fuel prices. Not much of that has anything to do you a UK cause. As for housing, since we last spoke, all three of my kids have graduated. The first two bought homes with no issues last year. Heck one of them bought while working part time at the university she's now doing a PHD at. Yeah, it's really hard to buy - LOL. Too many people making excuses. There's record employment and no reason not to be able to buy. Being sensible, you'd avoid this coming year until interest rates come down next year. As it is, the interest rates are below what they were when I bought in 1998. Too much doomsaying by too many losers.

BTW, I take it you are aware that it is the International Development Committee talking about the amount of meat being consumed by the western world. The first nation to take heed of such advice should be the most obese. That being the USA with 34% of its adult population fitting into that category.

@Tommy123D until you have completed the task, well during testing you do all of them whether you were successful or not. I know in the past if you fail you get back tracked in training. And during your training you should be doing PT everyday whether it is orginized with the platoon or not, you are expected to keep yourself in shape.

We found america, you are over 50 times bigger than us and yet we still have the best trained army and special forces(who train yours) in history. With a country so small, with less numbers in our army we still managed to conquor a quater of the entire world. This is why we have EARN'T our title of Great Britain. You should have respect for anyone who joins any army. You should celebrate the union of the United States of America and Great Britain.
