It makes me giggle whenever Ian sees a piece of electrical equipment that has an electric motor - “generator?” No it’s not Ian. It’s just an electric motor. Connected to a fan to maintain the supply of fresh air! A ‘generator’ - a dynamo for DC, alternator for AC current, would require some form of mechanical drive - a petrol or Diesel engine - which would be noisy and create toxic exhaust fumes underground. Some places do have them; but most of the small WW2 bunkers ran off municipal supply. Criticism aside, great explore, amazing to see such places; thank you for putting yourselves in such places to create a precious historical record. One thing that gets to me is the fact almost everyone who designed, built, maintained and served in these tunnels will have passed away. The graffiti may be one of the few material traces of those men

Bar codes. First was Wriggles chewing gum 1974 US. British Isles very late 80's started to take off, plenty of small shops here in Ireland still don't use them, sure its the same everywhere. If that crisp wrapper was outside I'd give it a year. Great explore thanks.

The painted “Diamond” crest at 17.28. Mins. This company made Anderson Shelters in WW2. I have examples of other makers crests. There is about 15 different makers of this thick galvanised corragated iron.

Absolutely fantastic , even with the rotten wood , still so much history left to see , but talk about risky , though , but still, you all worked out best way to get higher, Guess its the explorer in you all, drives you on, taking risks, its not knowing , just what could be a bit further up, yet to discover of the past, thank you 👍🙂

Back in the early 90s I was a student at Greenwich University in the Chatham docks. Their are several bunker doors? and plant rooms dug into the hill side. Wondering if these are bunkers ww2 and cold war bunker associated with the Docs. Id Love to know more as I always wondered?

in the ladies wc there was no plumbing, if the did it all in buckets it would stink the entire tunnel system. i really dont think all these tunnels were built before and during ww2, the tunnels existed way way long time ago and were repurposed
@Queen-of-Swords2 жыл бұрын
A bucket with a lid doesn't particularly stink. You have to think of emptying such things though and the practicality of carrying them up and down. Small buckets with lids, I guess.
